As for why sweat loosing the drones, no other weapon in the game can be shot away, sure, you can shoot down missiles, but look how many more you have in cargo to follow it on, when i can pinpoint the lasers on the rats or even the other players ships, then i wont ***** so much about my drones going pop, (especially with the thin skinned Fighter drones that can cost more than 14 mil a pop) Can we have the drone durability skill increase the drones resistance instead of the hitpoints?
As for how to change drone settings, i figured this out when they were talking about it on this thread, oon teh drone overview, right click at the top just like you would change the normal overview settings.

Edited by: Hugh Ruka on 15/02/2008 16:07:23 Well I have to agree with the OP somewhat.
Cleared a level 4 mission in a Domi for my corpmate who was getting spanked hard.
Aggroed 1st group, lead them 200+km away from any other rat, released drones. As soon as the first rat took damage, all the other non-aggroed rats started mwding to my drones and shooting them with heavy and light missiles from 180+KM away !!! was a heavy shock to me.
Please note that releasing the drones did not trigger any aggro. But as soon as my drones shot a rat they got aggro. I could shoot any rat in the group without any intervention from other rats.
Seems ilogical to me. However the biggest surpsise was the big swarm of missiles heading towards my drones from over 180km distance. I mean WTF !!! I am sure they would not reach me, as usualy Guristas cruisers do not shoot heavies past 90km.

Now THAT, if true, IS a broken system that needs fixing. Did you try using sentries in the same situation?
Also unfair that NPCs can use MWD in deadspace and we cannot.

Do not have sentry drones trained yet.

You need to look at this from a RL perspective. This is really just a complaint that the AI isn't stupider than it currently is.
If I'm in command of a fleet set up in a defensive position and I see some bada$$ battleship warp in, I'm gonna tell my guys, "Stay back fellas, watch for drones, if drones come, kill the drones, but stay back and protect the base."
The last thing I'm going to do is give a command like, "Okay, there's the enemy, everybody rush him and ignore anything he does. Just keep firing even when there's only one of our ships left!"
So the AI in the mission makes you switch tactics. Bummer. That's called "interesting." Blind aggro over and over again gets boring. If you're impatient, fit an AB, fly to tactical points, draw out pockets of the rats, and kill each group faster.
Some of us (myself included) get too emotionally attached to our million-isk drones and actually feel like we've lost our ship if one gets capped. This is stinking thinking and should be discarded. If you lose a drone, go buy another one. The loot alone from the lvl 4 mission will buy you a fleet of Hammer IIs.

that's definitely an interesting look at it, though you shoot that group and all of a sudden this great AI that you claim it to be all of a sudden disappears. Creator of another Mining Calculator |

yep. That and well, if your drone is too far out often times it's a garaunteed loss of the drone because the ships that MWD to the drone tackle it for the bigger ships to take it down in no time. Creator of another Mining Calculator |

As to the 180km thing, some rats have a leash to their spawn point, such as in Worlds Collide. I don't know if there exists a leash in any other mission (whether it's set to 250km or nonexistant...) But that may have helped the AI's sudden turnabout.
As for Drone Durability, unless the drones are tackled, they tend to survive quite admirably. I have Drone Nav 3 and Drone Durability 3, and while my drones do take a hefty beating when they get aggro, I notice it enough in time to pull them back and just remember to repair them at the station.
And are you sure the rats are using MWD? Mabye they're just using haxxed out Afterburners?

Then complain about that, instead of the good points. ;)
