I'm a Software Engineer/Programmer, and I try out various MMOs. Eve is ok, one of it's best aspects is that it marches to the beat of its own drum, which is good is this age of 'replica' MMOs.
But I'm just passing through Eve really, by passing through it means like a year, but that really isn't that long in Eve time. I've been wanting to try out Conan, but I don't like the notion of them changing iconic aspects of the game at the last moment, hope they don't shoot themselves in the foot.

Used to drive a forklift in a freezer. Now that I type it that doesn't sound like a real-life job. Quit to come back to uni.
What attracted me to eve was... nothing. I tried it and was bored mindless. One of my friends kept hassling me and hassling me though so I reinstalled and it's quite fun after the initial hump of "Not being able to do anything" has been gotten over. EVE RELATED CONTENT |

Work? Well nothing right now...
Recently Graduated High School student. Will be taking Entertainment Business Management at Vancouver Film School starting next september. I want to make movies or video games rawr. As sterotypical as that sounds.
What got me into eve? I once read another thread like this asking the same question, one of the posters surmized it quite well.
"OMG SPACESHIPS!"
That and I've always been addicted to sci-fi since I was four.

I used to do that years back. I actually nearly got a database job recently based on that they had to borrow forklift drivers about once a month from their neighbors to move stacks of backups. ---- Anything less is wasted effort |

I'm studying Dutch-English at a university in Belgium, and play EVE because of the feeling of accomplishment it gives me. It also looks pretty.

Low-level admin (not the computer variety) for a building society.
EVE is attractive because I've always loved sci-fi, and always loved multiplayer gaming. I've always had fantasies of designing my own super-duper space-ship-based MMO, ever since I was a kid and didn't even realise MMOs already existed. EVE is the closest any game has yet come to my old fantasy-MMO. Still miles off, but I can wait ------

For RL Job, I jump around a lot (SBC, Bellsouth, ATT, etc) doing usually Unix administration or Unix programming (my perl-fu is strong). Right now I found a quiet and STABLE company outside the communications realm. Working as the rather generic system analyst but it's paying good and is a lower-drama environment.
Love EVE because it's so big, there so much stuff to do. It's a very big challenge and I like challenge. |

Beancounter in construction.
I was introduced to EVE by a friend and was attracted by the promise of cooperative persistent-world gameplay. Any more CS or C&C would have eventually caused me to stop gaming. There is no fulfillment there.

Part-Time job in computer/software/TV store (Futureshop), I specialize in games, DVDs, and consoles -_-
A friend introduced me to EVE, I've stayed so long (1st MMO I've played) because:
-Real element of danger/death penalty (In lowsec) -Interacting with real people is x56.3 more fun than with bots -Beautiful graphics -Persistant gameplay (EVE is still there when you log out) -For the most part, lack of smacktalking ******s, lowsec weeds em out real fast -The idiots who couldnt be bothered to adapt go the same way as the smacktards --------------------------------------

Edited by: Mulletstation on 14/02/2008 22:20:29 I work in security. Making sure people are safe at sports games and other events. Have applied for a higher education within that field of work, and am hoping to get in. I like working with people and making them feel safe (outside of EVE of course).
Basically that means I need to put up with a lot of insults and violence on a regular basis. This is a great way to get back at other people who had no part in it, but in a much safer way. Unfair? Yes. Fun? Yes!

Retired Sys Admin.
Played Planetside and WWII Online before EVE.
The thing that attracted me to both these games was their scale ... or at least potential scale ... and that is one of the primary attractions EVE has for me.
Thousands of star systems, thousands of players all on line at the same time.
I like space ships.
I like pretty games and EVE with all it's multi colored nebula's is very pretty.
I like the way the ships are done.
I like a challenge
As I've said else where ... I had thought EVE was going to be about factional warfare when I started and am somewhat disappointed that it is not but it's still an interesting game.
EVE also fits into my play style well. So I'm pleased with that. That play style developed playing Planetside and was one of my reasons for giving up on WWII OL.

I'm a Heavy excavation equipment and agricultural equipment mechanic 21 yrs old. Born, fed, grown up & living in Norway. (occasionally doing toilet trips too)
Excavators bulldozers tractors dumpers... Wheeled loaders..
you name it ;)
Atm I'm working in a steel mill as Head maintenance responsible. And operating a cleaning processing plant for used water ;) Fixing forklifts.. and **** like that.
Now. Why am I into this game. Simply because I like it big.. In-space & robot-ish.
Comparison : Cat dumper with 900 Horsepowers ---> Mothership size :p Big as **** and nothing can stop it ;)
I'm also a huge Star Trek fan.. Wich has to take most of the guilt for me sacrificing myself for CCP's brilliant game!
Btw Devs. Can we PLEASE see some more Star Trek'ish looking ships?

German engineering in da house! Graduate engineer, soon to be master of automotive engineering. No job right now, as i¦m finishing the Master thingy. Working as an assistant on my uni parttime to keep my rig up to date. I came here from PlanetSide (acc there still running). And stayed here because i really cant be bothered to grind. Thats what i loved at PS, you just fight like everybody else and as a bonus you get a lvl from time to time. ^^ Played lots of other mmo¦s, but in the end it all comes down to who has the most time to grind. Which kinda sucks.
