The only question which remains for me is: why aren't you in goonswarm?
Edit: Clarification. You can laugh about your own family members as much as you want. If they are dead or alive, your thing. And if your 'friends' approve you can laugh about your friends people also, and they about yours. But who do you think you are that you have the right to insult others in such a bad way without their consent??
I didn't actually insult anyone, I'm a proponent of free speech.
I didn't actually laugh when my mother died, but thanks for doing exactly the thing that you have been ranting about goons doing, making fun of other peoples dead family members.
Why don't you go and join goonswarm.
Luthien,
In todays society, Dark humour is not acceptable and is immoral. It is not illegal, well, mostly not, but this is not a free speach issue. If you find dark humour acceptable then go to likeminded communities and preach there.
Do not come to a community such as this, where dark humour is not acceptable and preach it is acceptable because your ingame alliance is working with another alliance that finds dark humour acceptable. If you have anything to say, then go to a dark humor community and say it there. Saying it here is like saying it outside the houses of parlament and will only get people to think negative of you.
And now, back to nol - More Caps pls or more braver cap pilots who dont leave their allies to die pls. --

If that's what you find amusing, and how you choose to spend your time then fine, there are plenty of places where you can indulge your humour with like minded people. If you've not yet managed to learn that there are things that you might feel are acceptable between you and your close friends but which aren't appropriate in a public context then I don't think any of us can help you.
Eve is not your playground.
CCP can ban people for saying/doing things that are against the EULA, you can hate people for doing or saying things you dont agree with and disagree all you like.
But dont for one minute think you should be protected from the *******s of this world just because its a game. If anything the internet is WORSE than real life in that regard.
Help someone who wants your help, we are fine thanks for asking.

Says who? That's like saying cartoons of a particular religious figure ought not to be published because it seriously offends a significant number of people.
Its a slippery slope, because first its cartoons and then you have people trying to get historic images of said figure from wikipedia.
The right to offend is a free speech issue. There's always someone getting offended.

Dark humour is not everywhere, and it's all about what is publicaly "acceptable" or not. You can say a joke being pure humour, but someone will not take it as you attended. This is because who is listening to a joke is more important than the joke.
Will you say to your boss "hey, you so fat you know", then say hey it's only dark humour ?
Then you start to understand that everything in speech has its limits. That's why RL laws protect offended people beacuse sometimes you just hurt them even if it's not what you want. That's why harrasment petitions exist.
I can give you a kick, it will hurt but will heal. Some stuff just can't, like someone death.
That's why when goons were laughing about a RL player death, a lot of BoB members took it personal, yes, we did.

Honestly, have we really digressed to a politically correctness debate?
Someone in goons made a joke about a friend of BoB who died.
Dead celebrities is one thing. There's a fine line between "dark humor" and morbid jokes. Depends on the circumstances and in some cases is certainly worth declaring war on someone in EVE.

Yeah well especially over this particular joke, I mean we have said so many more hurtful things since that why dont they mention those. Some of them were even funny for a change.

I guess im the Goon generation .. Some people might have been around and was the BoB generation .. But im the Goon generation young revolting and not giving a crap .
I could care less if the Goons hump Nol station and laugh about it or a donkey for that matter
Goons all the way time to move aside the past of what eve was and in with the new of what its going to be shaped up to be . And i think thats the point there making that old ways are gone now and embracing the goon generation is essential to sticking with the current fashion . Thank you Goons for being what you are ignore the haters .

I agree with Luthien Firefoot here. I have been in a similar position and understand what he is saying.
All this dark humour whatever, morbid and fat jokes have been around for ages from all sides. Sure someone may have insulted you on a personal level at some point, but had this been on some obscure forum somewhere you would have ignored it or gone on some verbal offensive, **** like this happens all the time. Hate-mail collecting is even a hobby here in Eve.
In this case however, you are about to lose home systems to Goons & friends and out come the mass-petitions. It sure reeks of another meta-gaming way to gain the upper hand disguised under a thin layer of personal insult. I mean, if it is so bad why don't you just give up fighting Goons? It must be unbearable doing this day-in, day-out, right? ---

I'm pretty sure that in the 3 + years I've been playing this game, I've never petitioned anyone.
Yes, it's a required, valid tool for ppl who are being persecuted or have some kind of issue they can't fix themself.
For the ppl who petition others because they said **** or **** in local, for the ppl who petition because someone made a joke that offended your pompous, vegetarian, social worker, liberal, sensibility - I would just like you to know that I think you are the lowest form of life there is, not just in eve, but in day to day life, you are the kind of ppl who have destroyed society.
If you can't take a bit of dark humour then, seriously, you should just move to wales and top yourself and save us all from your poison.
Dark humor? You should move yourself to a mental instution if think making fun of someone that took there own life ok.
Next time you go out for a few beers with your mates (Or if you're not old enough, maybe a ribena in the playground).
When one of your friends tells a joke, say for example the latest joke about a recently expired celebrity (Every time one dies there is always a proliferation of them)
Let's hope you remember your 'high moral' sensibilities, or will it be the reality that you will just 'laugh' like normal people do.
If you are so easily offended, perhaps you should just stay off the internet, it's rampacked with dark humour, come to think of it you had better keep your tv turned off and perhaps not go outside, you might overhear someone tell an offensive joke.
Maybe, it's not me that should be considering the mental institution...
Only problem is that with goons mocking recently deceased eve players they directly confront relatives or friend of the deceased with their black humour, mere hours or days after that player died. If any1 in here thinks that is funny in any way, please explain how and why that is funny.
Also goons were petitioned for a focused campaign with the objective to harass a single player. Said campaign lasted for over 6 months, with pm's, corp apps, evemails etc containing insults you wouldn;t even dream of. Now i like my fair amount of smack from time to time, but focussing your coalitions smack efforts on a single player to grief said player is pretty ****** up, and makes me wonder why people play this game.
For me it's just another reason to dislike what goons stand for. For the rest of eve it's apparently becomming the standard. But it's all cool in the war vs bob amirite?
we're having a blast either way, and are glad to see there's people that take this game far more serious then we ever did. Please do not post pictures of players in your sig - Mitnal |

Why stop at free speech? Why not go a step further and let people do what they want. If that involves hurting people physically or emotionally, who cares - its freedom right?
Well, thats why laws exist. Not to catch criminals - oh no, since Criminals do not respect the law, therefore the punishment is irrelevant to the criminal who thinks that he can get away with it has no need to worry about consequence. The laws exist to keep members of society from exorting their freedom to rob, murder, maim and other harmful activity - be it written, verbal or physical. The power to do the above is reserved for the ruling classes who have better things to do than play eve-online.
You seem to think freedom is a right. Well, it is not, but perception of freedom is. You are free to do anything you want - You have to accept the consequence. Therefore cartoons of racism etc are free to be published, but expect some retaliation from society in some way.
Then you will say something along the lines about how society sucks since what is acceptable changes with time. Well, my answer to you is sue society then. Just Say'in, thats all.
Now let us take this topic back to NOL. What has Iron Achived in NOL so far to warrent such posts from its members. --
