Alright guys, as the title says, I'm having a major problem with the DPS on my ships. I fly a Brutix with a Heavy Neutron Blaster I setup loaded with Antimatter charges and a Magnetic Field Stabilizer for the small DPS boost. I web my target and get within 1,500 meters and as I fire, I notice that each weapon hits home very weak. I've done less than 100 damage per shot at times, which for a medium blaster is embarrassing. I also am working on fittings for my Hyperion, which also suffers greatly in the DPS issue. Aside from upgrading to T2 blasters, which I plan on doing very soon, what other suggestions do you have in order for me to increase my DPS? I'm open to all suggestions and positive criticism, from setups, to required skills, to actual pvp tactics. Thank you all ahead of time.

Get named blasters like 'modals' and load navy antimatter m charges =) And buff your general support gunnery skills to min 4s :)

Edited by: Bronson Hughes on 01/02/2008 17:53:37 What are your gunnery support skills like? (i.e. Sharpshooter, Trajectory Analysis, Motion Prediction, etc.)
What are you shooting at?
Hitting for below 100 per shot on a Brutix with a T1 fit like you described isn't actually all that uncommon. What makes the DPS output good is the speed at which those hits come in and the fact that you're probably using 6 or 7 guns.
Try orbiting further out at 2km or 2.5km. You'll be in falloff, but you'll have far less of a problem with tracking so you may end up doing more damage. -------------------- "I am hard pressed on my right; my centre is giving way; situation excellent; I am attacking." - Ferdinand Foch at the Battle of the Marne |

use 7x Heavy Ion Blaster II(best named - Modal,if you can't use T2) w/ Caldary Navy Antimatter, 1 mag stab and 5x HH tech II, its easy to hit 500 DPS.

I would, but the penalty for fitting more than one would make it more of a waste I think. Plus the fact that I use my lows for tanking my armor.

"Modal" blasters, huh? I just noticed the damage modifiers on them, and I'm going to try them out. Thanks!

I think thats another problem I'm having. I need to work more on gunnery skills, most of them are at lvl 1-2.
The targets I shoot at are PvP ones. I was testing my damage against a Hurricane the other night and I noticed that most of the damage being dealt was from my hammerhead II's. I have a corpmate who flies a Brutix with a railgun setup and he hits harder than me. I also tested out my Hyperion against a Raven, and I couldn't even dent it's shield tank. Damn invulnerability fields. Those are the reasons in which I'm posting here now.
Thank you all for your quick replies! I will work on all of your suggestions and post later with more feedback and questions if I have them.

Yeah, the low gunnery skills will really hurt your DPS. Also, try orbiting at 2.5km or so to help with the tracking.
Good luck, and fly safe. -------------------- "I am hard pressed on my right; my centre is giving way; situation excellent; I am attacking." - Ferdinand Foch at the Battle of the Marne |

Edited by: The Djego on 01/02/2008 18:44:07 I remember my first steps with a Thorax/Mega.
You realy need your Skills up to 4 better 5, Named Blasters and Named Damage Mods(T2 Weapons and Damage Mods kick ass and a real improvement to any Damagedealer) to make the Thing called DPS happen. Also good Drone Skills.
Also it highly depends on the resistance of your target. First time I hit a Abaddon with my Mega in PVP i was about "WTF 50-70 Damage with Modal Ions, 2 Mag Stabs and Antimatter with high Gunnery Skills, your kidding right?"
If you have high Skills, T2 Guns and Drones and some Faction Mods to slove the CPU Problems on Blasterfittings they realy kick ass and you will look back and see the diffrence. ---- Nerf Tank - Boost Gank!

Your having tracking issues causing poor hits.
Getting your gunnery skills up to 4's should help that a lot. Also with low skills the smaller basters fit easier and track better, the base DPS is lower but with your skill you may wish to try out ion's or even electrons.

I would say its just your gunnery skills making you do poor dps i had the same problem when i was a newbie with auto cannons.
Once you get to 3+ your damage will get alot better real fast i cross trained a year ago to blaster's and with only Med blasters 1 with my gunnery i was hiting for 200+ with AM. Death is great rember where all dying to get there. |
