What's the best one to use and the skills required for all the modules? Should I hook up hybrid weapon rigs? Could someone explain or link me to a good guide on pirating in general? (Tactics, best setups, using scanner, etc.)
Right now, I've got 3 light ion blasters, an afterburner, a small armor repairer, a stasis webifier, and a warp disruptor. (or scrambler. I can't remember.)
How is that?

My favourite setup is still...
High's: 3 Blasters (biggest you can fit)
Meds: MWD or AB, Web, Scram,
Lows: 200mm plate or small armour rep, DCU or EANM,
Rigs: Hybrid damage and ROF rigs.
Get up skills for blasters then nav and armour skills.

Otherwise solid setup though. I see it benefitting more from the DCU then the EANM though. Sig removed, inappropriate link. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] ~Saint |

Does blasters mean no railguns? Also, could somebody explain the acronyms? I'm too much of a noob to understand them.

Edited by: Vikarion on 19/01/2008 00:32:28 Blasters are not Railguns. The are still hybrids, but shorter ranged in exchange for doing more damage.
MWD = Micro Warp Drive. Require more skills to use, but much faster than an AB. Also much more dangerous. To you, that is.
AB = Afterburner
Web = Webifier. Slows down enemy ships. Only web after scrambling someone, otherwise they will simply warp off even more quickly, since you warp at 3/4s of top speed.
Scram = Warp Scrambler. Keeps someone from warping out. Unless they fitted Warp Stabilizers.
Armor Rep = Armor Repairer. Does what it says. Slowly.
Plate = Armor Plating. More armor for your ship, but it makes you slower.
DCU = Damage Control Unit. Good, inexpensive module which greatly increases your resistances. It's an active module, which means you have to turn it on.
EANM = Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane (I think) If this is what I think it is, it's an all-round passive resistance increaser for your armor.
ROF = Rate of Fire. How fast you shoot.
I use CrumpleCorn(tm) Sigs, because they (and he) are awesome! |

Thanks. But blasters with antimatter, aren't they only for extremely close range, like, unattainable close range?
How do I go about training for/getting a micro warp drive?

I'd just suggest not rigging an Incursus, it'll blow up pretty quickly, but if you have the isk to spend, the rigs suggested are right on target.
Good fit. www.the-bastards.com Ask me about recruiting options |

Yeah, I've got a significant amount of isk laying around. Now, the question of what I should do with 1 mil of isk.
Thanks for the help.

Err, you might want a bit more in the bank than that or this is going to be a rather brief career move. I think one T2 neutron blaster is about a mil! Go for an all no name T1 fit using ions and microwarp drive, web, scram and damage control with an armour plate. In fact buy two.

To me not rigging a ship is like not using all your slots.
The EANM can be better if your using a repper and going after noobs in ratting cruisers where you may take the odd bit of damage from a light missile etc.

Well, that didn't last long. I did fine and killed a bunch of npcs but then got owned by 5 npc cruisers all at once. Good thing I had insurance. :)

Most modules exist in different 'qualities'; usually an "unnamed" T1 (Tech 1) module like "Light Neutron Blaster I", several "named" T1 ones like "Regulated Light Neutron Blaster I" and a T2 (Tech 2) variety "Light Neutron Blaster II". Unnamed T1 and T2 modules can be produced by players, named stuff only comes into the game through NPC drops. In many cases a "best named" module (the named one with the best stats) performs as good as the T2 one, but has easier fitting and skill requirements (T2 modules such as weapons often requiring the base skill at 5 and then a specialization skill on top of that), often making it quite a bit more expensive than the T2 one, because more players can use it, but its numbers are limited by what NPCs drop, whereas T2 demand is usually easily met by the players who produce those modules.

At least not in a ship that can't take a wrong hit at the wrong time.

Yes, but for the price difference you can just get two Taranises and do significantly better.
I agree on the EANM point; sometimes it can benefit you more then the DCU (in combination with a rep) when you're taking ratters down and take the occasional hit from heavy missiles at a slow pace. Here's a winning Incursus fit:
3x Modal Light Ion Particle Accelerator (upgrade to Light Ion Blaster II's when you can) Ammo: Antimatter S (upgrade to Void S when you get T2 guns)
1x 1MN MicroWarpdrive (MWD) 1x Faint Epsilon Warp Prohibitor 1x 'Langour' Drive Disruptor
1x Micro Auxillary Power Core (MAPC) 1x 200mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates
1x Hobgoblin (upgrade to T2 when able)
Set your MWD to manual. Your tactic is to use one burst of your MWD if needed to close range, then orbit real close (set your default orbit to 500m; your speed will make you actually orbit somewhere under 1km). Activate all your offensive modules (blasters, scram, and web) and launch your drone (most of us seem to forget this the first month or so).
You're depending on your ability to kill them before they kill you; you're hoping your speed and size mitigates their dps. That armor plate is really just buffer HP while you're on your approach, your most vulnerable moments of the fight. People with larger guns (mediums or large) will have a very hard time hitting you. You'll only take a fraction of the damage large missiles can deliver (much of their destructive power will be wasted on empty space around you). But someone with lots of drones can really hurt.

Dude, MAPC on a cursus and no neutron blasters ?

Better to fit a Magstab, a MAPC is far from essential on an Incursus.
