Questionable Intentions

I've been seeing these more and more often. But, I've never flown a rohk, much less a smartbomb rohk.
First, what are the advantages/disadvantages? Second, good setups? Third, good tactics?
P.S. I've already searched for this topic and didn't see it.

Amazing thread. You do realize how narrow the use of a discoboat is? The only use for them is to head in and blow up a blob they in advance know is there - and normally using a scout to do so. No other ship is made for this and hence there are really no disadvantages or advantages - except for within the class.
Most discoboats use the mids for cap and go with a passive tank, lows for stabs. This means the rokh is a boat with very slightly higher survivability than the Raven - but at 50% higher cost.
There are no tactics involved.

disco ships suck unless all you want to kill is frigs and maybe the occasional cruiser solo. they don't have much of a tank if you want to solo tank sentries solo

fantastic poasts really. I understand it's a limited ship, but it's been pretty popular in lowsec for pirating and I was hoping to find out more.

And the thing is - there's really not that much to find out. This goes back to those "Hey, I just bought my first Badger, how do I fit it out? It'll be used for hauling back minerals from my 1.0-belt miner alt.". Fit Cargo Expanders - the rest of the modules doesn't really matter.
You don't need much tank on it, you don't need scrams on it, you don't need webs on it you don't need anything but Cap, tank and smartbombs enough to survive long enough to run out of cap, tank and targets. This normally means Smartbombs high, Cap boosters in mid and shield extenders in mid, stabs in low.
If you manage to actually phrase a relevant question about it, sure it's answerable, but just mentioning a topic that is this narrow...

Theyre great in 0.0 combined with a bubble or so.
Try this..
highs:7x smartbomb 1x cloak mids: 2x inv field, warp disruptor, MWD, 2x cap recharger, lows: 5x capacitor power relay
if any, ccc rigs
The disruptor helps to kill lone cruisers or indys you may find..i once even killed an arazu with it.

That may work...provided that you can actually lock something in order to use the scram. I'd lose the cloak and stick a heavy unstable Neut on there. Sig locked, I will not make fun of the forum mods |

The cloak is more to hide at a safe or at the bubble so people dont know what to expect. You can fire smartbombs right after you uncloak, no delay, so thats kinda sneaky.

Go on, refute me.
Hint: use empirically collected data rather than cheap one-line accusations, it gets more people to vote for you.

I can confirm it doesn't work. That's how I fitted my first mega , smartbombs and cloak... before realizing there is a 15 seconds delay after decloaking. Couldn't catch anything , even watching the scanner.
Smartbomb Rokh is still the best. You can safely use it solo with officer smartbombs as long as you fit stabs , no really

Low sec disco-Rokh fitting assuming a station is in the system (you can drop a smart bomb for a cloak for areas that have no station, or 0.0).
8 sb's (duh). I often ran 2 em in the first 2 slots, a mix of kin and therm in the next 4, and 2 explosive in the last 2. Use your brain and adjust to the type of targets you expect to encounter. Hardeners, cap injector, etc. Not too complicated here. All warp core stabilizers in the lows, assuming you can fit everything easily. Platinum insurance.
Always be aligned.
Find a system with only two gates, or a system where traffic almost exclusively goes from one gate to the other, and rarely deviates to other paths. Rancer is a classic example, and while in klepto I used this setup there.
Fly from the ingress gate, directly to the egress gate (where you'll camp). Move off of the gate about 6km towards the ingress gate and bookmark it. Have a buddy do the same and see if he warps almost through you. If not, adjust your position and re-bookmark it.
Now the key part. Make use of your scanner. Set it up to focus mostly towards the other gate. Spam the snot out of the refresh on it.
With practice, you can start hitting, and possibly destroy, a target before it leaves warp.
If things look bad, you have your warp core stabilizers to easily break you away from the initial tackler. You should be aligned with a safe spot, and be moving from one safe to the next in a pattern that reduces the amount that you need to pivot prior to the next warp.
And there it is; the disco Rokh in all it's beauty. -- It's a pleasure to burn. |

Yeah. I had some fun a few years ago with a Smartbomb+Cloak apocalypse. It used to work. ______________________________________________ -You can never earn my respect, only lose it. It's given freely, and only grudgingly retracted when necessary. |

Wouldnt it be better to use PDU and cap batteries to allow longer smartbombing periods?
