Edited by: Solid Trust on 05/01/2008 18:31:19 I never thought the day would come where I would say this, but nerf the polycarbons. They are tooo damn expensive and I want them nerfed so they are not in the equation and I don't buy them due to my weakness of wanting the faster and more agile ship. They are worse then drugs and they destroy my Eve wallet. 120mil for 2 Polycarbs is just insane.
Due your job CCP and nerf some more.

No you have it wrong, the true flavour of the month is the rookie ship. You see everyone has had one and most have still got one, we have all trained for them and they can be used as cheap goon ships to zerg in large numbers all those poor little industrials in high sec. Basically they are overpowered because everyone uses them. Yes thats right, CCP said that if something is used too much it must be too good and needs a nerf.
So please, leavy polycarbons alone till rookie ships are nerfed.

Have you seen the prices on Alloyed Tritanium Bars lately? Hint: Polycarbons aren't the only popular rigs out there that need ATBs to build.

The real problem is that polys are way more effective than the comparable t2 speed mod (the nano)

120mil for 2, where have you been buying your poly rigs.
Look around and you may be able to get 2 for 80mil.

I completely agree. I also want every ship I fly to be 100% free and I want a big red, yes red, I WIN button installed in the place of my guns. Furthermore, every ship in Eve should automatically warp to me, thus saving me the trouble of actually know what I am doing and having to find them.
Also, drones should look like kittens.

first off. i like speed, i dont like speed nerfs. there...
however, as a goonie said up there, the issue with the polycarbs is that they are better than the t2 low slot modules. not only that, you naturally are boosting two attributes with the mod.
'almost' every other rig is subpar to the high end module equivelent. if this were true for polys they would still be viable, slightly more balanced and definitely be cheaper, thats for sure.
but like i said, i like speed fittings and way i see it, if you want to pay for the polycarbs, you deserve the speed (though, i'll be damned if I would ever shell out that kind of isk for them :P)
"one more spam thread will get you a warning. - Thanks Hutch. " isn't a warning of a warning a warning? or just a warning of a warning? didnt he just get 'the warning'?

You could mission run or Rat...cause building the rigs is normally cheaper than buying a rig itself. (note this is even correct when buying the salvage from most markets in high sec)

Of course price can never justify how good they are...
The price is determined by the players depending on how good something is, not the other way around...
If there was an i-win module in eve that let you instantly destroy any fleet, it would probably be worth hundreds of billions of isk.
That doesnt mean that if a person spent 100 billion isk the module is balanced.
Everybody who says a module is fine because of its cost needs to think a bit more.
Last time i checked this wasn't 'isk-online'.
Or perhaps i'm behind the times, maybe the amount of isk you have should determine everything, regardless of player skill or teamwork.

I think they shouldn't be nerfed, the price has to be decreased so more ppl can afford it. The price can be decreased by changing BPO requirements to use less expensive components.
Tbh there are more expensive modules and implants which give greater effects the polycarbon rigs, such as snake sets.

its a sweet generic (yet valid) response, but i should have been more clear. As most ppl know you can not only buy rigs, but actually build them... imagine that.
I should have said something indicating that not only those that bother to pay the prices deserve the speed, but those that build the stuff deserve it too. As for it being an 'i-win' module.... well, sure, whatever.
I said in my first post, i hate speed nerfs. Know what else? I hate all the other ones too. Everytime they come out with something a bit revolutionary, different, or out of the norm, ppl crying they cant kill it.
Its called eve. M*ther**ckin Eve-Online.
Learn to use countermeasures. Know your opponent and formulate a plan to kill him. You think this is one more super powerful mod only the rich can use? Or is that just the arguement that seems to fit best atm?

Are you saying a group of skilled players are incapable of taking down a speedfit ship?
And price certainly dictates how good you are, in everything. In a world with artificial limitations you can only be so good based on skills alone. Competition motivates people to use the very best equipment possible in order to eek out just the slightest advantage over another equally skilled competitor. The difference might be 3% better damage or 2% higher shield resists... but you pay extraordinary amounts of money for that slight advantage. Welcome to the real world by the way. If you want a computer that can -handle- EvE Online You wont have to pay too much money. But if you want a Computer that can flawlessly run EvE Online at the highest settings with multiple accounts at the same time, prepare to shell out some cash. Competition drives the Market in EvE. Take away the really really expensive things now, and lesser modules of the same type will sky rocket in price.
Lastly, You can put together some ships that can tank any 1 ship in EvE and some that can even tank a large gang of skilled players. They don't cost 500 isk.

Bare facts:
aux trusters t1: +10% < overdrive t2: +20% low friction t1: -15% < inertia stab t2: -20% polycarbon t1: -15% > nanofiber t2: -12.5%
Polycarbons: (1) affect MWD speed (2) affect agility (3) allow packing low slots with Overdrives
95% killmails for t2 cruiser-size ships show "Polycarbon engine housing: 2" Common speed junkie remark: "uber ship, but without 2 polys it suck"
Definitely, something is not right with balance here, if it is the ONLY viable option left...
