Hate to burst your "new to eve bubble" but seriously, get a Rupture for missions, the Bellicose has its niche but missioning isnt it. The difference between the Bellicose and the Rupture is enormous, and you will more than likely make up the difference in price from doing the missions a heck of a lot faster. Also, dont rush into getting a battleship, eve takes time, learn how the mechanics work first, bigger isnt always better, I have been playing a year and dont even have the battleship skill trained. Take it slowly and get your support skills up a tad before getting into a bigger ships because you will only loose it to the first hard mission that comes along.
If you are set on using a Bellicose though there is some fitting advice Here
Good luck and have fun

I think my skills are adequite I am tech 2 trained in most of the fittings I want for it I am just training up my tanking skills before getting one? I dnt pve alone I am doing lvl 4 & 5 in gangs of 5 or so and have been using my thrasher, come close to popping once but that was all, dnt think there is a remote chance of loosing a btl ship missioning in the group I mission with Thanks!

Edited by: Flurren on 31/12/2007 14:34:22 You can use t2 BS guns and you still dont know how to fit a cruiser? Ebayer or what? Anyway i wouldnt use the bellicose for anything other than large fleet work simply because its a tracking booster that will never be targetted. For missions it lacks the firepower to get through them at a useful speed.
Imo CCP should turn the belli into a missile using ship to give minmatar some variety and a better reason to train for missiles before the typhoon obviously keeping the ewar bonus. It also needs another low turning into a med slot.
Another thing that doesnt make sense - the cost of a cruiser is nothing for a level 4 mission runner even split 4 or 5 ways (which is silly anyway imo since theyre so easy to solo).

can use bellicose for the following rats: Blood Raiders Sansha Angel (Unless they are missile spam type.)
With t2 afterburner, and nice set of drones, it's the highest dps t1 cruiser if your skillz are right.

People tend to underestimate the Bellicose's combat prowess, though I don't know if it is in fact the "highest dps t1 cruiser" there is.

I'm pretty sure my 400dps Rupture will beat a Belli in dps...
I would have to agree, that unless you are made of isk (which from your not wanting to spend money as you are saving up for a BS comment leads me to believe that you are in fact not made of isk) I would slow down a little bit on the sprint to sit inside of a BS. I advise all of the nublings that I encounter to wait until you have twice as much isk as is needed to get inside of your BS, usually this means about 250m or so. This should be very easily done by using a Cruiser for lvl 2's and a BattleCruiser for lvl 3 missions. The Rupture is hands down the best Minmatar cruiser for lvl 2 missions.
If you are running lvl 4 and 5 missions with a gang, and you don't pve solo, isk should not be a factor for you right now at all. The 10mil it would cost to buy, insure, and fit a Rupture should be made up within an hour of gang lvl 4's. It will easily cruise through lvl 2 missions at times when your buddies aren't online or don't feel like helping you out. Pun was intended if you caught it.
Now you don't need T2 weapons to fly a Battleship well in lvl 4 missions, but you do need T2 everything else. Make sure all of your basic skills are at 5, and all of your support is at 4, at the very least, before climbing into a BS. This is often a LOT more skills than people initially think about, and the phrase "just because you can does not mean you should" comes to mind very heavily here. I know, you'll read this, or someone will, and think "ahh that's bull I did fine with vanilla T1 gear and only 2.5mil SP" but those people are usually the ones running lvl 2 missions in a Battleship. Running lvl 4's in a BS with low SP requires a lot of patience and isk (rigs aren't cheap for newbies) to be able to solo. I ran lvl 4's at about 3.5mil SP in a Raven, but lvl 3's in a Drake made me more isk/hour. At 6mil SP all into Battleship combat, I feel confident enough to be able to power through lvl 4's solo and make good isk doing it. I would need a rigged and fully T2 (minus weapons) Battleship to be able to do this though.
Just some points to ponder.
In the end, get yourself a Rupture. www.the-bastards.com |
