I had half an idea while answering another thread, so here it is due to a positive response.
Before Castor too much money was being made too easily from trading. Also introduction of tech2 needs agent runners. If you could make tons of cash trading at the same time then again it would be too easy to make ISK.
I would like to see trading come into its own again. However, it should be a profession which requires investment so its not easy money. How about new trading skills which give speed or cargo bonuses. New skills for specialist containers for specialist goods. Skills for actually being able to trade the goods in the first place. I reckon relativeley little coding for a new profession.

Also have faction ratings and standing affect the prices you can buy and sell goods at. Making alot of high profit from trade runs should involve a player developing a reputation and standing within the market, in other words time, effort and investment as well as just trainging skill packs.
I like the idea of needs specialist skills for shipping certain items (i.e. some cargo requires special mods to be fitted for transportation - life support systems for live cargo, containment equipment for bio-hazard or radioactive gear etc).
I have the body of a supermodel. I just can't remember where I left it... |

The faction connection and corporation specific skills could be tied into agent missions. Gives a different reason other than tech2 components for us that do not participate in research.
Thanks for the input.

Edited by: Gilgamoth on 17/03/2004 16:33:36 I know there are noob trade skills such as blackmarket and trade, but they aren't available in game yet, which is down right nutz...

Yeh my main char on my other account has the trade skills. They're not really comprehensive enough to define a specialist trader.

If they just made the trading market profitable again id be happy. You figure that with a lvl 3 agent and good standings you can make a minimim of 150k per mission. A mission can take from 5 minute to 30 minutes depending on your ship and its actual skill level.
They need to balance this out some. In order to make 150k in profit in the market you have to actually by millions of isk worth of a trade good haul it more then 20 jumps away(whish is usualyl 3-4 trips) and spend 6 hours doing it. This is flat stupid in my mind.
Before castor, they had the right idea. Make it profitable to run these types of trade goods around. This kinda stuff brings wealth back to everyone. People move around in eve alot more and pirates can camp gates and become more profitable as well.
Until they bring it back up to at least a decent profit in doing trade runs, I wont jump anywhere for trade goods again.
