So work with me here....
MC has always said they would never accept a contract on BoB unless the contract had a great plan and held clear goals.
1 - MC gets hired by the RSF.
2 - Following the hatched plan of attack, MC provokes BoB to open up another front (of no strategic value).
3 - RSF cake walks into Delve.
Follow the trail of who gets the biggest payoff... that trail leads straight to the RSF.
First of all, Outbreak is involved. Outbreak has continually said that they never wanted to get in to the political land grab game. They don't want stations etc... yet with 'Tortuga' they mysteriously want space of their own.
So what should BoB do?
If 'Tortuga' is actually a contract for MC then BoB is up to one-helluva-fight. I'm not sure if they could win against RSF + the hired mercs. No one can. The numbers are just that overwhelming. If this really is a contract, BoB is wasting time and money trying to keep PB while getting pummeled in every other arena.
What if 'Tortuga' is actually real? Then MC and friends will turn PB into a merc heaven sooner or later. BoB can't successfully defend PB indefinitely. BoB should write PB off as a tax deductible loss and focus on their other regions.
Any thoughts??
Oh, and I am a GBC supporter.

What exactly would merc heaven look like? I always thought it was out attacking someone else's space... and a region full of Hulks isn't really merc heaven either is it?

Why do all the forum warriors instantly jump on calling any player who doesn't belong to a big alliance an ALT? I play this game how I choose. And atm, that means trading and following the politics through CAOD. (tho the political toddlers in CAOD is slowy draining my enthusiasm).
Moving on...
Does anyone have any ideas on my two conspiracy theories?

MC does not want to go down with the GBC. They want to find new customers and stay alive even if BoB crumbles.
Does that answer your question?

Think I will give you a clue for free....
First of all, RSF are not paying MC. MC are doing this because they have noticed what we have known for a long time. BOB sucks.
Second. No mercs can work unless they have a fair backbone. That is, any mercs with a cap fleet. The new powerblock in that remote region can now stand together and fight a 4 front war with a decent home defence. If MC are in the drone regions and someone attack they're home, Kia, Outbreak and evOke can still hold off the hostiles fairly easy in the sov-4 systems along with the MC alts.
Third. Supercaps. EVE as it is now, do not allow for corps or alliances to field supercaps without a fairly safe place to 'store' and make them. MC, Outbreak, Ev0ke and KIA can after this landgrab start mass-producing supercaps.
BOB lost they're way a long time ago. BOB used to be just a few corps and 500-600 pilots. Then they got inflated, then they got inflated some more, and then they got Finfleet (best corp in BOB) and some strange remains of LV. It wasn't much, but, it was enough to get them to the size of a decent carebear alliance.
So, there they are. some free clues for you my friend.

My reasoning was a tad simpler: "MC probably thought this through and decided that this was the best course of action". Hence, it will benefit MC most. Everything else is consequential.
This beside the obvious advantages of a merc alliance without a political agenda.

Got to love wiki ...
"Tortuga is an island pirate town near Haiti, out of the jurisdiction of the Royal Navy and the East India Trading Company. While it remains a free port where traders can escape the high East India tariffs, it is a dangerous one and illegal transactions are common." ---

Dude of corse Tortuga isnt a contract, their motivation s blindingly obvious. Even if MC hadnt supported BOB in their final days and remained aloof while RAGoons marched through period basis, do you really think when the dust settles they would be aloud to keep their space? of corse not. RAgoons and firends would take that too afterall MC have been living in and assisting the growth of BOB space for what feels like an age.
But by doing this they acheive two things. One they can claim they were pivitol in contributing to BoBs demise. But they are also forming a new powerblock to solidify their position. Its simple survival. The Big question will be wheather or not it works. Only time will tell.
