You've done a great job already with in-game economics and sale/auction tools. Why not take advantage of this instead of reinventing the shuttle? Create a facility to convert GTC into in-game item, which, when used, would add 30/90/100/50/whatever days to using character's account. But, lets look a bit further: this in-game item could be resold, auctioned, lost, looted, given to others, trashed (;>) - lots of possibilities, as it should've been from the start, this being part of Eve.
I'm probably not the first one suggesting this, but please - think about it :)

GTCs are direct representations of real money. Allowing them to be looted, lost or stolen is just ******** beyond measure. There is however no specific reason they shouldn't be more directly tradeable in game though.
However there is no way in hell they should be subject to any of the in-game mechanics.

Edited by: Ofca on 09/12/2007 10:44:06 How exactly buying GTCs for ISK is tied to real money? And why Time-Extending item should behave in any other way than any other item bought for ISK in game? Also looting/losing and stuff would apply only to resellers that wish to move bought stuff between locations for whatever reason. Avoiding such events is so far beyond trivial, that there's no point talking about it.

What James said. If I wanted to play a game where I can lose real money due to in-game events, I'd "play" Second Life or some random Asia-grinder.
Making the GTC bazaar a part of the ingame market would be nice though. It could be realized via a centralized, i.e. per-account "inventory" of timecodes that could be put on the market or sold to customers like usual items. There are however the usual concerns of "stashing" GTCs involved, so it's a question of whether GTCs should be applied to the buyer's account immediately. In no case should the current way of trading be completely replaced, since it allows trading with inactive accounts, which would be impossible with a purely in-game method.

Because GTCs are real money, while no other in-game item is. You (hopefully) didn't pay for your ships, weapons, ammo, blueprints, ... in hard currency.

No, I didn't. Neither did I for GTC. So?

[bump]
I would gladly hear more comments, especially from devs - whether they deem it even worth considering :)
