Is it possible to send EVEmail using the API? I find tools that actually do this. Does anyone know how? |

The API lets you pull data from the server but wont let you put your own into it.
If it did huge security issue.
I dont see CCP ever doing this.
There are applications to let you recieve your mail as a POP3 email. |

No, you can't send mails through the API.
Those 'tools' emulate a normal web session to EVE gate and HTTP/POST the mail. Not really science, but IMHO also not really welcomed by CCP.
But you are required to use your login credentials - something which I wouldn't give away to a 3rd party tool. |

I see. I also just asked a third party and they said they do their mails manually.
Does CCP disallow acquiring e-mail addresses to make accounts at third party sites? If I could do that I could limit registrations but it could also arise problems. |

I'd love CCP to give a official method of sending EVEMails, it would make things a lot easier for various tools I've made.
Even if it had a hard rate limit, or even charged a CSPA fee per message i'd use it. |

I'd want an opt out option for API generated mail so I never receive them or know they were sent.
Not that I have anything against spamming, just so long as its not to me.

It would be cool to allow EVE mails and have members decide if they want to receive messages from certain tools and sites. It does indeed pose a security threat though...
Also, I asked a second question. Does CCP allow us to acquire e-mails from users? |

Not so concerned about sending EVE mail. But it would be cool to receive EVE mail on a smart phone. Say your POS gets attacked, you get an alert on you smartphone so you know to get online ASAP.
Is that possible? I am getting a new android in the next couple weeks, I would love to load it up with EVE apps.lol. |

I use the Aura app for android, and yes it can pull your mail so you can read it. |

Check out the tool I build, it pulls your evemails from the API and then sends them to you via regular email. It's free, and this way you can see it on any device you view email on (not just android). Especially nice if you're sitting at your comp but not logged in, your email client shows you the evemail you were sent.

Are you allowed to steal the evemails sent to the users? Yes, if a user gave you his api key you are allowed to do what you want with it.
Also, it is possible to send evemails via javascript on the igb, if you want to test that method. You could have the server generate the mail and view the page ingame and it would send all the required information automatically. CCPEVE.sendmail is the function afaik. Meh. |

Meh, all I ever "sold" was the names of characters in a corp. That same service is now free (evewho.com) and run by the same group of guys with which everyone trusts ALL their killmails (eve-kill.net). I actually don't sell anything anymore, I just released it for free because I already had built it to use for my own toons.

Additionally, I am planning on developing a dedicated mail app over the summer with some interesting features for corporate use, both military and economic.
+1 for CCP allowing mail sending. |

Exactly. Meaning he (and his service) has access to all of the kill mails people trust eve-kill with.
