You need to get out of banking. My old boss was 38 and looked mid 50s. The demands just kill you. I was lucky enough to realise this when I was 25 and even more lucky to find a job that suits me perfectly (supremely lucky in this economy) in analysis and the ability to get out of the UK.
It's just an unhealthy atmosphere in all respects. |

You dont have to leave par se, but change place. I went from investment banking to analysis. Look for consulting firms in London if you're in the UK. They're still a growth area. If you happen to speak Arabic / Chinese or Portuguese you shouldnt have too much of an issue.
You said you work in africa based investments. This can be turned into experience in africa if you are familiar with the politics, trends and real world impacts going on. Especially in places like Angola. Although Angola is pretty much tapped out from my understanding with all that chinese money being poured into white elephants. But pick a country / region and specialise in it.
For me the middle east has always been interesting and there is never a dull moment... not even when I would like one.
Just got to think "what am i good at, and what would i like to do." And see if you can apply it elsewhere.
And I'm only 27 myself. |

The lyrics are both mysterious and strangely suitable, I know it as Amber's death song from House.
EDIT: Lunch? I'm rocking out with the manly meal of mash and fish fingers for lunch. Cheap meal FTW! "The louder they spoke of their honour, the faster we counted the spoons."

I'm making home made beef / lamb minted kebabs and pita for dinner (all made by me) and I'd trade this for that in a heartbeat.
God I miss British food.... I'd kill for a decent beef pie...
I often crave hmm... ok let me explain this first.
To visitng ISD. I would like to draw your attention to this.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faggot_(food)
Quote: Faggots are a traditional dish in the UK,[1][2] especially South and Mid Wales and the Midlands of England.[3][4][5] It is made from meat off-cuts and offal, especially pork.[3] A ****** is traditionally made from pig's heart, liver and fatty belly meat or bacon minced together, with herbs added for flavouring and sometimes bread crumbs. The mixture is shaped in the hand into little balls, wrapped round with caul fat (the omentum membrane from the pig's abdomen), and baked. Another variation of ****** is Pig's fry wrapped in pig's caul: the pig's fry and boiled onions are minced (ground) together then mixed with breadcrumbs or cold boiled potatoes, seasoned with sage, mixed herbs and pepper, all beaten together and then wrapped in small pieces of caul to form a ball. These are then baked in the oven and are usually served cold.[6] The first use in print cited in the Oxford English Dictionary is in 1851, from Thomas Mayhew, although this appears to be a calzone- or pasty-like dish, with an outer wrapper of caul, covering a filling of mixed pork offal. This was in London.
So I am not breaking the censor on purpose so please dont chew me out.
I often would love Faggots, chips and gravy. I tried making them myself but I cant get the mix right. |
