What rigs do I fit to my Astarte? I find that with my current setup, 1 aux nanopump and 1 nanobot acc. I have real cap issues ratting angels in 0.0. Ofc the injector takes care of it, but I`d like to be able to run at least 1 rep more or less perma. is that an option at all? will cap rigs do it? what rigs to use guys...? PvP and PvE respectively, but the best would be one fit for both if possible...

You could fit 2xAux nano pumps. Is this doubling as a PvP setup as you usually wouldn't fit a cap injector in PvE.

Its a pretty standard setup:
2x MAR II Explosive hardener II eanm 0/1 Damage control II 2/1 Magnetic field satb
Y-T8 mwd med Electrochem w 800's fleeting web 24k disruptor
7 ion/neutron II's (thinks its 5/2 with current skills)
aux nano pump nanobot acc.
5 med tech II drones or 10 small
I use it to rat angels now, but I would rather be able to rat with my PvP setup than make a specific PvE setup, better to be ready when hostiles show up... :)
Apart from that I like best to have a balanced approach to things, no pure gank or tank as I find they don`t suit my playing style.

well if you want the brutal truth..
ive tried ratting angels, serpentis and guristas in an astarte and it doesnt work, for the exact reasons you say. its too cap hungry. if you want to use an astarte and avoid this you need to specificly fit for pve ie ab / cap rechargers etc.
but lets be honest thats not what u want in 0.0.
the solution is the deimos.
you can pvp effectively in a deimos with pvp fitting. i use ions + 800mm plate + mar t2.
it suceeds where the astarte fails as it is much more agile. ok it cant rep as much, but it doesnt receive anywhere as near as much damage as long as you orbit at around 3km.
trust me on this one ive tested it.

This is a PVE setup since PvP is a totally different animal.......
highs - 7x Neutron 2s mids - MWD, Web, 2x Cap recharger 2s Lows - MAR 2, DC2, Cap Power Relay 2, 2x rat specific hardner, MFS 2/reactive membrane 2 (for angels since your exp hole is huge)
I have maxed fitting and cap skills so thats how I can run this setup up non-stop. Pulse the MWD to get in range and then orbit the rats at 2500m. If you find you are still low on cap/run out, change the MFS to a relay. This is also counting that you are ratting in 0.0, not complexing, since those require you to setup for the situation. This should fit without rigs, depending on your skills.

weak npc setup tbh :D
dunno bout anyone else but for me, npcing (when i do lol) is about making isk fast. with 1-0 mfs its not fast :D.
7x neut T2 mwd T2, fleeting web, 2x cap recharger T2s MAR T2, eanm T2, cap relay T2, 3x mfs T2 5x hammerhead T2
funky stuff :D kills rats rele bloody quickly hehe

Well he was saying that he couldn't tank the damage long enough to kill the rats......
So I proposed a setup that would......Tank

Edited by: Hans Angry on 28/11/2007 06:12:34 its an astarte... not ment for ratting, but i have two setups, gank and tank
Tank: 600 dps with Federation Navy Antimatter Charge M, and skills to level 5 and 4, also runs around 75% to 90% resists with good compensation skills, 4's. High: 7x Ion Blaster II
Medium: 1x 10mn MWD II 1x Disruptor II 1x X5 web 1x Medium Cap Booster II
Low: 2x MAR II 1x Explosive Hardener II 1x DCU II 1x EANM II 1x Magnetic Field Stab II
Rigs: 2x Aux Nanopump
Drones: 5x ECM medium
Gank: gets a little above 900 dps with max skills, and Federation Navy Antimatter Charge M, tank is poor at best for a CS, but the ecm drones should be your tank, great solo ship if in a 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 1, if your pirating or killing ratters with it, it will be really tough for them to tank above 900 dps. High: 7x Neutron Blaster II
Medium: 1x 10mn MWD II 1x Disruptor II 1x X5 web 1x Medium Cap Booster II
Low: 2x MAR II 1x Explosive Hardener II 3x Magnetic Field Stab II
Rigs: 1x Capacitor Rig, forgot the name but its like an RCU rig, should only need one with advanced spaceship command 5. 1x Aux Nanopump, hardener rig or second ^
Drones: 5x ECM medium

well, thx for answers, though only a few of you actually answer what I`m asking: which rigs to fit... :)
As for damage and tankability and so on, killing the rats and living is no problem at all with my setup, I go through a triple 1,7M SP BS + BC faction spawn in a few minutes with it, the problem is I`m totally dependent on my cap booster, which I`d rather not be, at least not all them time...
So what I want to know is if there is any better rig configuration than my current (aux nano pump and nanobot acc.)...? I use those two instead of two aux pumps to lose the stacking penalty, but it will ofc. drain more cap... so would a CCC instead of the nanobot be of any use for example? I will try out a few different fits on SiSi, but feedback is always good...
as for the cost/benefit aspect, I`ve found that a PvE-fitted Ishtar tanks triple BS angel spawns quite well, and with berserker II's it kills them off quick enough, though not nearly as fast as the astarte...

H: 7 x neutron II M: Web / 2 x Cap Recharger II / Named MWD (or ABII for deadspace) L: Faction MAR / Faction EANM / Rat Specific hardner/ 2 x MFS / DC II
RIGS: Hybrid Collision damage thingy and Nano pump (more repaired)

go on the test server and test (its the best way to find out)
my own astartes rigs are the power grid one and the nano pump, but thats part of my pvp set up, i just use the same ship to npc in. my npc armor tank doesn't really come into it as their usually all dead b4 i run out of shield!!

I will have to try this, but it sounds like gank is the solution after all... Will look at a neutron setup with the power grid and see how it fares...

neutrons are more cap hungry which means more of a problem.
there isnt an answer to your question as you arent prepared to change your fitting to pve.
if you want the setup you have, whatever rigs you fit, you will always need to use cap boosters.
thats the answer im afraid.
if you want to use astarte you will always need cap boosters for that fitting.
if you dont want to use cap boosters - change setup or alternatively use a deimos which can pvp much better than an astarte without using cap boosters.
