I have only one question, and that is, are you publicly traded yet, and if so, what is your stock ticker?

Eve-online continues to be a great game nd one that I really enjoy playing, it is a shame that your customer service has become so poor as the number of users has grown
I wonder how many more of these 200,000 users (like me) will evemtually leave the game because they become frustrated with a lack of support by CCP and an apparent unwillingness to admit to faults

EVE would be 400,000 if it wasnt for the current PVP policy stunting your growth.
PVP jerks make non-pvpers leave eve or not come to eve in the first place eve is considered a PVP first person shooter and an anti NON-PVP game
theres a reason about 80% of the players are in empire its just too bad you only think about the PVPers
just watching the dev question and answer session it was obvious all the questions were from PVPers. that to me says alot about how disenfranchised the non-pvpers are they dont even goto fanfests
the council is going to have the same problem and be dominated by the PVP corps
ya and the flamers PVPers responce is going to be if i dont like it "go somewhere else" which is proof of why eve is only at 200k.
I would love for the economist to do a whole report on PVP vs NON-PVP statistics of eve

What would be far more interesting is the number of subscribers, not the number of subscriptions. I have 5 accounts, by extrapolation that would mean there are only 40k subscribers. I know it's not that simple, but still CCP ought to know how many individual subscribers there are.

It seems like just yesterday I undocked for the first time in early June 03 on my first (retired) account. Congratulations to all of us on something that has become bigger (in many ways) than I think any of us old timers could have predicted or seen.
CCP, my thanks for a hobby that has kept my interest and attention through the last several years....may EVE never fade!

I am really pleased for CCP. That is a major milestone!
Is it also confirmed that Eve's population is now larger than Iceland's? That's kinda scary!

I have to wonder how much of this is due to the power of 2 promotion you just had.
Congrats though, even IF it was barely 100k people with an average of 2 accounts each, I don't know many MMO's that are good to the point where people will maintain multiple accounts to play. --- Some people think pirates are better. Pirates are clumsy. A Ninja you never see until it's too late. Your corpmates can't save you, your scanners can't see us, your gatecamps can't catch us. |

Originally by: CCP kieron As reported in this Announcement, EVE Online has surpassed 200,000 active subscriptions. This does not include the over 45,000 active trial accounts, but are pure active subscriptions. While that may not seem like a large community when compared to some other titles currently on the market, it does represent a major milestone for us. Our next goal? To hit 50,000 concurrent users (a record 37,481 logged in on Sunday afternoon) and 300,000 active subscriptions.
The list of people responsible for us attaining the milestone is large, but we could not have done it without the support of the EVE community. This is as much a celebration of your efforts as it is ours. Thank you!
Congratulation to everyone at CCP too! Without your dedication and spirit of the devs this would not have worked either! We the players do our "share" by supporting this fantastic experience, but its you who deserve the thanks and the congratulations!
So cheers CCP! May EVE be a shining star for ages among all MMOGs in the time to come!

Congratulations CCP on the 200K subscriptions. Having been here since the Medusa Beta and have had an active account since launch, I would have expected however at this point to have 200,000 people on simultaneously, not just total subscriptions. I know they are different types of games but I just see where WoW just hit 9.8 million subscribers. I have my ideas on why this is, but I was wondering what the Eve community thoughts on why over 4 years later there are not 2 million Eve subscribers.

10,000 in Jita alone, or FAIL.
Seriously though, should we be scared of having 50000 people on at the same time? Is this technically well within "Pleasant Playing Experience" territory? * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Or maybe zero. Most MMOs fail in fewer than 4 years, you see. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

No better way to pad one's 4th quarter results than to give away some "free" stuff.
Originally by: Mirana Niranne I don't know many MMO's that are good to the point where people will maintain multiple accounts to play.
Pretty much every single one of them? Not having multiple accounts in an MMO today is pretty much inconceivable.

Yay... It is a milestone, and one I'm happy that you were able to obtain. But...
That number wasn't just reached by obtaining new players - that number was announced just as Power of 2 deal ended - a deal only available to current players, which allowed a current account holder to get a second account for about half price. Which means lots of your existing player base added a new account, helping to bump your numbers so you can make a press release. How many actual individual players are there really? Me, I've got 3 accounts now, and I know I'm not alone in my multiplicity. I'm not hating, bashing or trolling, but it is disingenuous to proclaim 200000 subscriptions; it implies to the unknowing a far broader customer base than actually exists. It would have been a much stronger datum if it represented actually payer/player numbers, and not the individual accounts they hold. Just my .02 isk.
