Edited by: Sir Ibex on 13/11/2007 03:18:29 I decided to try doing Gallente missions but they seem to be broke/glitched.
The game has me doing EXACTLY THE SAME mission for 4 advisory agents in a row!! I have to kill a pirate take his documents, bring them back, and then take those same documents and bring them to another place. First two female agents, and then 2 male agents have me do the same exact mission. Once I got to the fourth agent, he asked me to do the same damned mission again. I was upset and declined the mission. Now when I speak to him he say he got no jobs for me....
What do do now? The storyline doesn't continue.. It doesn't even start! I don't know where to go... I checked people and places, and there are no new agents there.
I decided to check if it is the same for other races, and sure enough it's NOT! I made a Minmatar alt, and in this case the mission progression happens nicely and gradually. There is only one or two advisory agents, and after that the missions kick off very nicely. The storyline is progressing also, and every mission is different. I get cool new items and rewards for completing every mission. That proves Gallente must be broken... or is it?
Can anyone tell me what's going on?
Also... Are all storyline/advisory missions geared toward military characters? Are there storyline mission that involve doing something other than killing stuff?
I know there are regular mission that involve hauling for example, but those are lame, boring, and only give money as a reward. The storyline missions are much more interesting both story wise and reward wise.

Don't decline storylines!!
They are the only way to increase faction standing and are a very efficient method of getting other agents to become available.
They might be tedious, but storylines only come along every 16 missions.
If you're getting the same thing over and over, then move to a different region within the same faction.

You're redoing the last part of the tutorial over and over again. It's a 2 part storyline and that's it. There should have been a new agent added to your people and places agents tab and that's where you need to go to get to your first "real" storyline agent. You should get a 10 part mission from him/her in which you'll earn a lot of free skills, implants and a couple of free ships.

I don't know much about agents, instead I will try to address your frustration.
Missions and NPC's are a form of resource gathering, they don't advance any kind of backstory.
You mine asteroids, you mine NPC's, you mine agents.
Its all the same.
You say you don't know where to go next.
One place is as good as another except for the amount of available resources, and the number of people living there.
Imagine any kind of business you would like to do in space.
In Eve you can do it.

Well if this was the case I'd be given access to the next agent, no? This is just strange... And I never declined a storyline mission. I declined the last, fourth advisory agent which was giving me the same mission I did 4 times in the row. ;)
Ok... I'll try to right click on the last agent, select his corp and see if I can find the next agent this way.

I know this is the case because I started a new alt a couple of days ago just to play around and I did the same thing (albeit only twice). Keep in mind that the new storyline agent might not be in the same station you're at (and probably isn't). You should've gotten the obligatory "I have an important thing to talk to you about..." Evemail from them. They should also be listed under your agents tab in the People and Places window.

That's the thing. That never happened. and because I made this account a while ago, and only now bothered to look for the root of the problem, I am kinda screwed. I made a petition, but the support guy told me the issue is known, and "might" be addressed in the future. That is off course not good enough, but the support cant do anyhting else for me. Too bad, what can I say...

Ok.. I now ran into a similar problem with Minmatar.
First of all all mission are exactly the same as with Gallente. Go kill drones, deliver synthetic oil, intercept the transport, bring the militants back. How lame is that? I though they at least had different missions for each race, but no... That is something I can easily get over off course.
But what's really bad, is after I did some storyline missions, the agent eventually told me she has no more jobs for me and I should go look for someone else. So I found another security agent and after doing about 5-6 missions from him, he started offering those same missions AGAIN from the start all over again! What the heck is wrong with this game? How do people find higher level agents? Why couldn't the devs make it so that the agent STOPS giving you missions after you completed everything he has to offer INSTEAD of "looping" them?
I can listen to those who told me to click on the agent and look at his corp to find more, but how do I know the next agent wont be just as lame, and wont make me do exactly the same missions again?

There would appear to be two issues here:
1. If your tutorial mission is looping you need to petition under missions, if you get the same result as last time, then I'm afraid the only option is to wait.
2. The very nature of missions is that there are five (with more planned) levels of missions, the idea that the more missions you do at level one where you start, the quicker you move up the agent ladder and can take on level 2 missions and so on.
It is by level and agent type that determines what missions you will get access to, going to the same agent repeatedly and not moving up levels will limit the quantity of missions available to you.

Missions are randomly generated. The agent just assigns you a mission chosen from a pool of available missions. They are not 'looping' they are just being randomly picked.
You can expect to be given the same mission over and over again.eg you get a lvl 3 'blockade' then after 2 missions you have not done before you get 'blockade' again.Just because you have run a mission once does not mean you will not be given it again.

I just created this character and had this problem too. I've ran through the tutorial before, I know how it's supposed to work. After the first two missions you get a contact who's supposed to give you follow-up missions.
Except now he doesn't. You talk to him and he says he doesn't have any work for you.
I haven't resolved it. Next time I log in I'm going to petition. In the meantime I'm doing low-level NPC corp missions. Ibex, if you think you know enough about the game to do so, try this out.

Hey, did you know that in soccer you can't pick up the ball and run with it? How lame is that?
There is a finite number of Missions in Eve, I'd suppose there are rather less of them than in some other MMORPGs because there are many other things to do that are not in other MMORPGs. Eve was originally designed to be primarily a PvP spaceship combat game. The number of different PvP fights you can have is endless! New Missions are added from time to time, but they are not a high priority.
Quote: What the heck is wrong with this game? How do people find higher level agents?
They find out how to do it by asking around and reading Guides. The Agent/Mission system is quite easy to understand, but until you take the trouble to do so you're stuck.
Go to the 'Missions and Exploration' forum, select the Sticky at the top, and there are your Guides.

Edited by: Orikon Maru on 15/11/2007 16:17:36 Edited by: Orikon Maru on 15/11/2007 16:14:42 Although some of this seems to be connected to tutorial mission issues, keep in mind that if you spend most of your time running missions you will end up repeating missions fairly often. Once you are done with your initial training missions (the set of 2 and then the set of 10, which you should always do with a new character btw, you get a lot of good free stuff out of them) your missions are selected at random from a pool for the level and type you are doing. Although there are more missions going in at the next expansion, there are only so many so after a while you will be getting repeats. In fact, because of the random element, its possible to be offered the same mission twice in a row.
Also, the first mission chains (2 part and then the 10 part) are intended to be the same. They are part of the tutorial, and designed to show you parts of the game. The first 2 are always the same, and the 10 part one is different based on your profession, i.e. there is a set for military character, a set for industrial characters, and a set for business characters.
I think the best way to look at mission running is as a means of generating income, but its far from the "point" of the game. Mission income should finance your other activities, be it pvp, business, trade, corporation projects, whatever. But a steady diet of mission for the sake of missions can get dull fast.

Missions are also good to get your corp standing up for refining.

You didn't Read the whole thread carefully. That is not what I meant. The main idea was how do people find the next agent who will actually give HIGHER level, DIFFERENT mission for a change, and not simply how to find the next agent. Oh and yes, I admit I should pick my words more carefully.

Edited by: Anderrs on 15/11/2007 18:29:02 Sir Ibex,
I can't remember the screens and I'm at work so I can't log into the Client, but if you go to your journal there should be tabe called "Loyalty Points." Click there and it'll show your standing with the different corps. If you want to find more agents for a specific corp, right-click on it and click "Show info" (or whatever is actually written there that gives you more info on the corp). There should be a tab inside the Corp information for Agents. This will list all the agents with their type, level, and location. Choosing an agent with a different type might introduce you to new missions.
