My first attempt at EFT'ing a drain setup, in this case a Vexor (my favourite cruiser). I'm not sure whether I've got the right idea when it comes to drain setups or not so I'm hopeing by posting it you'll either complement me on my superior EFT warrior skills or I'll get flamed to hell and back. Either way at least I'll know if I'm on the right track or not. So here goes:
Hi -- 1x Medium Neutralizer 1x Small Neutralizer 3x 150mm Autocannons
Med --- 1x 10MN Microwarp Drive 1x Warp Disruptor 1x Medium Capacitor Booster
Low --- 1x 800mm Armor Plate 1x Medium Armor Repairer 2x Energized Adaptive Nano Membranes
Drones ------ 5x Medium Scouts 5x Light Scouts
So the idea is to get in fast and cap them out asap using both neuts whilst keeping yourself in power with the cap boosters. Once they've capped out you can then turn off the medium neut to save your boosters but keep the small neut running to stop them from getting any cap recharge. The auto cannons are mainly for taking down enemy drones but will also add to your own drone firepower. I've gone for 5 meds and 5 lights to give flexibility at the cost of some dps.
Rightio this all seems good in my head but I'm wondering what somone with more experience with drain setups thinks so fire away.

I think you are on the right track, but I think there are a few possible problems with this setup.
1) I'd try to pack more than 1 med/1 small neut on a cap warfare ship. The small really isn't going to make much difference most of the time. Without breaking out EFT (and not knowing your skills) I don't know exactly what I'd trade off, but trying to get at least 2 medium neuts would be a first step.
2) Without a webber, you are going to have to rely on the MWD to manage distance. That's not a giant problem, but you have to consider who your targets are going to be. If you are fighting someone smaller than you (AF/Inty/frigates) they're probably going to have MWD and be able to outrace you. If they're bigger than you, they probably have more cap than you do and so cap warfare isn't going to work well.
It seems to me that cap drain in a vexor is more of a secondary effect, something to do while your drones are gnawing on the enemy. It's never going to be a primary attack like in a dominix or similar ship.
That's just my 2cents of course. This would probably work fine in a variety of engagements. If you are in a gang, it might be quite effective if your gang has lots of neut-equipped ships with a variety of tackling.

Awesome, thanks for the input. I think I've found the trick to making this work. I didn't realise that small neuts also have shorter cycles than medium neuts which means that two small neuts are actualy more effective than one medium neut, and with smaller fitting requirements (except for using two slots). That means I can get more neuting power on my ship without having to sacrifise tank. I do have to loose the autocannons though. Therefor I'm thinking of fitting either a small smart bomb perhaps, or maybe a remote armor rep to give my drones the edge. What do you think? Anyway here's what it ends up looking like:
Hi -- 4x Small Neutralizers (II) 1x Small Remote Armor Repairer / Small Smartbomb
Med --- 1x 10MN Microwarp Drive 1x Warp Disruptor 1x Medium Capacitor Battery
Low --- 1x Medium Armor Repairer (II) 1x 800mm Armor Plate 2x Energized Adaptive Nano Membranes
Yeah the lack of web is a problem but I dont see what I can do about this since the other mid slot modules are essential. I'll just have to hope I can drain smaller ships fast enough that they cant escape me.

Dont fly one, but these might work:
5x small neut II
mwd scram small cap booster (200's)
1600rt plate damage control II 2x EANM II
or*
3x medium unstable neuts 2x small neuts II
10mn afterburner II 24k scram small cap booster (200's)
1600rt plate damage control II 2x EANM II
all depends on solo/gang and situation but. mix and match, something will work how you like it.

Using small neuts might not work so well if your target is a cruiser or larger. Even fitting 5 of them only neuts 250 cap and the range of 6km is also a pain which means a) you will be in web range and b) it will take some time to kill his cap. Better to use medium nos/neuts and stay out of web range till your target is drained.

Looks awesome but sadly there's no way that will fit. You have given me a great idea though. With a passive tank setup I could drop the cap booster for a web which is something I wanted to get on. This would free up grid for swapping out small neuts with medium neuts. Finaly if I swap some neuts for nos I can run these to drain their cap recharge and keep my web and scram and such running once we're bothed capped. It would be very dependant on me having a larger cap reserve than them though, plus I'd need to micro manage the neuts and nos at the end to keep my stuff running whilst keeping them capped. Could get tricky.

I dont really see this as a problem. 5 small neuts will give you 250 cap drain per 6 seconds. I'll be able to run the neuts for 8 successive cycles in a time of 48 seconds before my own cap gives way (if I have everything running, that is mwd + repper) which gives a total of 2000 cap drain which should be more than plenty for a cruiser.
The bigger problem like you say is the range of small neuts and my lack of web. I might be able to do something about this though if I go for the passive tank setup. Still not sure if that's going to work though.

Also remember that your target will be using his cap with his guns, scrambler, web, armor/sheild rep, so expect his capacitor to be less than full once he engages. Infact I'd go as far to say not to use your Neuts until he has activated some of his own modules. Doing that will give you a advantage of having more cap to begin with.
If you dont use the cap booster, and you run across a target that does have a cap booster, you've nailed your own coffin. If you just fly without the web, the worst that happens is your enemy is able to put range on you and flee.
Use medium neuts for their range. Because of the lack of web you need to have a broad range. Any ship that uses a MWD to try and put range on you will lose a major portion of their cap doing so, and that ship shouldn't outrun your light drones. They will have wasted their cap to get away from you, leaving them little cap to tank your drones.

Really great advice Maverik 52. Man this thing is hard to fit whilst trying to cover all the bases though. Rightio, so this leaves me with:
Hi -- 2x Medium Neuts 3x Small Neuts II
Med --- 1x 10MN Afterburner 1x Warp Disruptor 1x Medium Cap Booster
Low --- 1x 800mm Plate 1x Small Armor Rep II 2x EANM
Sadly I've had to gimp the tank a bit to get it on :/. The small neuts are incase I can lure them into range, if not I've got the med neuts there anyway. I'm a bit concerned about having to downgrade from a MWD to an afterburner, but the worst that can happen is that they get away. It is possible to get the MWD on there but it needs a Reactor Controls in the lows to fit removing an EANM. I guess its a case of risk versus reward whether you fit it or not.

Klaatu varata nicto !!!
Awesome, just been reading up on bandwidth and dronebay changes, and if what I read on the forums is correct the Vexor will get a whopping 150m3 dronebay. This has given me a great idea on how to get the small neuts to work so I dont have to gimp the tank to get the meds to fit. Say hello to drain vexor mkII. Cant wait for the changes so I can get stuck into this thing now. Let me know what you think:
Hi -- 5x Small Neuts II
Med --- 1x 10MN MWD 1x Warp Disruptor 1x Medium Cap Booster
Low --- 1x 800mm Plate 1x Medium Armor Rep II 2x EANM
Drones ------ 5x Light Scouts (anti-frig) 5x Medium Scouts (damage) 3x Webby Drones
So the plan will be to get the webby drones on them first and fire up the MWD to get in range of the small neuts. With a web and mwd they'll still be able to stay out of range but they're going to have to burn their MWD continuously to do it. They wont be able to escape though and either way phase one of the plan will be accomplished - ie: drain their cap. You then swap the webbies for the medium scouts and pound away at their defenceless junk heap.

some tiny errors in your planning: a) Vexor only has 100m¦ dronebay atm on SiSi (was just there)
b) Cap is horribly unstable with that setup if you need to use the rep while neuting your target. (tested that setup a few min ago)
better go to the SiSi server yourself and see what i mean

Aww damn it. Maybe I'm going to have to give up on this idea then since there just doesn't seem to be a way to make it work solo . Those med neuts are just too damn power grid hungry.

Have you considered using neut drones to complement some of your own neuts, then swapping them for medium/light drones later on? My research services Spreadsheets: Top speed calculation - Halo Implant stats |

Yeah I considered it but the combined effect of 5 medium neut drones is only the same as one normal small neut. It doesn't really have a big enough effect for me to be able to ditch one of the medium neuts to free up some grid for a viable tank
