When using the MacOS client, the game will freeze if you attempt to select multiple mail senders and attempt to delete them. One at a time works fine, but otherwise it'll freeze the client requiring a force-quit.

I'm having a really irritating problem with the linux client. I can get it to run, log in, and get into the game just fine. Unfortunately the game process seems to sit on one of my two CPU cores showing 100% use while the other sits at zero, then whenever i move the camera around or do anything really, the process seems to jump to the other core. The core that was at 100% suddenly drops to zero and the other core spikes to 100%, this causes a terrible stall and makes the game totally unplayable for anything other than maybe changing a skill (at least i can do that). I did have this problem when running the old windows client in cedega, but i was able to resolve the issue by forcing it to a single core using taskset. Taskset now has no effect, i can only assume it's due to the 'eve' binary i run spawning some other process which no longer obeys the restriction to a single core, but so far my investigations have not found anything that helps.
Does anyone else have this problem? Any ideas? Send halp! |

MBP, OS X 10.5 Leopard
- Had problems with username entry (locale was set to Russian/English). - Often disconnects. - Cannot find Tranquility at the moment at all.
In Windows XP under Bootcamp everything works.
This emulated POS client is a joke. Give us proper native client!

Okay here's my info on the Mac client:
1) When firing it up, the 'server status unknown' hangs around for a long time. Eventually it does get it "right".
2) Lack of being able to set it to windowed mode in the graphics setup pane = fail. Having to cmd-enter it all the time = teh suck.
3) During play, the graphics tend to stutter at times. No apparent reason. Running this on a macbook pro with ati x1600 card.
4) Odd crashes and hangs. At times the client will lock itself up solid, and if this happens in full screen mode there's no other option than to power off the macbook -- this is extremely sucky.
5) Complete lack of documentation on where the EVE client manages to park itself and it's preferences. Fail.
Oh, yeah..
#4 seems to be either related to running fullscreen, or having your home directory FileVaulted (which I have, I'm paranoid like that). After a little digging expedition to find the prefs/cache folder, I moved it outside my homedir and symlinked it. Things seem to work now without crashing.
Overall: nice that a mac client is available, but it still has too many issues to be called stable. QA didn't do their jobs on this one.

I downloaded the linux version, and i was very sad to see that it is worse than when working on wine, i get about 50 fps when in wine i get 75-80 also finding the eve files and config is impossible, so i cant make tweaks or make it run on windowmode, i think i will stay with the windows version running on wine , its much easier and much better!

I do agree, Mac client is sucky, as any emulated program tend to be.
4) Option+Cmd+Esc will kill any active application, fulscreen or not. It won't work in extreme cases, when OS is locked up itself (unlikely the case).
5) 99% of apps keep their preferences in ~/Library/Preferences/. EVE on Mac is no exception.
And it "parks itself" at whatever place you drag it to (i.e. /Applications/).

Linux client works fine on my system, thanks CCP/Cedega.
Just need to find out how to change refresh rate on display, its set to 60Hz in-game and cant be changed, but I am using 1280x1024 a 75Hz in x windows.
As others has pointed out, it would be best with pure linux/mac client, not just windows eve-online client in a package with Cedega, but I am happy to no longer need to boot into windows to play. yes, i could use wine, its a great software, just could not get it to work, problem detecting my graphic card, even when I installed/copied dll files from a directx9 cab file.

Hi,
I am using ubuntu/gutsy. I have an ATI Radeon X1650 video card with ATI's 8.42.3 driver. This is a completely useless setup for eve. I can only run the client in 1024x768. I cannot change any settings, because after I change a setting then click the close window button, the computer interprets that command as crash eve client and reset the os screen resolution to 1024x768. If I click the undock button, that apparently has been reprogrammed to mean undock pilot, warp pilot to some unknown point in space, crash eve client then force end user to log onto to eve with a Windows client then dock pilot.

I like how it now says "pause skill training" rather than "abort skill training". I'm sure that will save a lot of noobs worrying over their skill points. Kudos to whoever thought of it.

I don't know about the lag being less but I have also been having disconnect problems. There is the possibility my machine/router/isp is the problem but this has only started occuring since the patch, never had disconnect problems before. The timing is certainly coincidental.
