I run a small martial arts club and I have a small website which is not the best.
My current website is made using FrontPage 2003, and has the normal pages, ie Home, Gallery, News, Location and General Information. It is hosted on a web.com Windows Business Plan. This is cumbersome and has limited features.
I am looking for a good website software that does all the above AND has a forums (both public and students only), Calendar and the ability for my students to log into a students only area to view students notes and upload pictures to a gallery and stuff like that. Ideally I would also like to be able to modify the look of the website to match the colours and theme of my martial arts club.
I have told by mates to look into various phpbb portals, and also none phpbb stuff like mambo, joomla, e107, etc. I did a test run of e107 but found it difficult to modify the template and since I have not heard of them before, was reluctant to spend time on it, in case it was not that good. I am not an expert nor have the time or experience to try out different software.
Any suggestion or at least point me to somewhere where I can find the solution.

This is an example fo joomla / mambo and the host is http://www.surreal-media.com/webhosting/HostHome.php For z20 or $40 a year this would do the job. Setting up the joomla site is as simple as clicking on the install button.

Why dont you set up a Wordpress blog. They are free and extremely easy to use. You don't even need to setup a host as they will host for you.
Or you can download the software and run it on your own server.
