And now we inspect the same event from the other side. Careful readers will find that today's story illuminates several little details left unexplained by the last chronicle. Careless readers will likely ignore all of that and instead hope for more seminude chronicle pics.
On the subject of pics, we'll be changing our format a tad. For the time being, we'll be using the same template picture for new chronicles; only the title will change. We don't yet have the RSS feed fully functional, and given recent events our priorities are understandably elsewhere, so be sure to look in every two weeks for a new instalment; don't wait for a new picture to remind you that a new story has been published.

nice keep em coming and I soooo want one of those guns =)
though the last section seemed a little too quick or missing any atmosphere or something... not sure just doesn't seem right.
also it took me a while to find this without the regular link at the bottom..... well actually it took me 2 min to find where it should be then 15 min to realise I'd missed it when it had been staring me in the face
also about pictures: will the little flash thing on the main page have the picture title change? My Opinions are my own, not my corp's, not my friend's, and not my pet fedo's

Oddly enough I found a link to the story from the front page so I managed to read it before the announcement!
A nice story from another POV.

When ambulation comes out, can I get me one of those guns? Please? Please? =D
Seriously, when he was explaining how the ammo works, the only thing I was thinking was "Damn that's gotta hurt..."
Very nice job though. I had to reread "The First Half" again and kinda put the two together like a puzzle. But that wasn't a downside. On the contrary I found it quite nice.
I also noticed you sneaked in a similar tactic with the titles of the pieces. Tricky tricky!
Keep up the good work man. These stories are amazing. |

I love the chronicle's ! But is there any chance you can post the parts more frequent? One every week instead of once every two weeks. Atm by the time a new part comes out i almost have to reread all the previous parts because i lost the plotline.

i love when is a "series" and tbh i much rather have a new short story than these 1 page things... just hope the mountain will turn into one...
On the other hand.. what i would really like to see in these storyes is more of an interaction with "capsuleers" i do believe there are so many great storyes that can be told about events past in eve -------------------------------------

That last section is a bridge whose primary purpose is to push us forward to the next chapter, but it's also a subtle culmination of Draea's suspicions, ones that I've been quietly voicing. Remember this section. It's going to matter.
As for the picture, it's going to be the same background but different story title, yes. It took us a bit of time to update this time around, and may do again next time due to the Fanfest, but after that we should be back to normal.
Originally by: Arlen Warstadt Very nice job though. I had to reread "The First Half" again and kinda put the two together like a puzzle. But that wasn't a downside. On the contrary I found it quite nice.
That was actually the main point of both pieces. I wanted to write two interlocking stories in which reading one would give you an added insight into the other. Black Mountain is all about perceptions and intentions, and this two-story combo illustrates how the same event can be experienced - and conveyed - quite differently by different people.
Originally by: Lateia I love the chronicle's ! But is there any chance you can post the parts more frequent? One every week instead of once every two weeks.
It's going to remain at two weeks, I'm afraid. We used to do it on a weekly basis back when I started this, a year ago, but that sort of thing (a) eventually leads to all manner of scheduling problems, and (b) means I can't do any other projects but this one. I can write a new story every two weeks and still have time to write other things, one of which we're going to have read out loud during the Fanfest.
Originally by: papaPadla what i would really like to see in these storyes is more of an interaction with "capsuleers" i do believe there are so many great storyes that can be told about events past in eve
These stories often have capsuleers hovering around the edges, but they won't be about capsuleers as such. I want to show you new sides of the world in which you live, not merely recount what you already know.

Quote: There was Krezek the tech-sadist, Falau the brawler, Yorlas the bounty hunter and Polok the chem-tech warfare dude.
This sentence in the 2nd paragraph feels more like a placeholder you forgot to delete than part of the story. Especially since it's immediately followed by a full introduction.

It isn't. What it does is (a) lengthen the paragraph's pacing, so you go from a short sentence to a mid-length one before being plunged into that monstrous description right after, (b) give you mnemonics so that you can better distinguish the people you're about to read about, and (c) provide the clearest hint you'll ever get of what these people stand for. Care to guess?

It's kind of a long shot, but do they represent the four main races of EVE?
If that's right though, I can't seem to place who stands for what race. That makes me think I'm on the wrong track. Hmm...looks like I'll have to reread and think about it a bit more. |

I used to play SWG and before the NGE it had brawlers, bio warfare and bountyhunters, so that added to the feeling of discontinuity. But even without those connections I still feel it breaks the flow of the story. It feels like see looks round, then looks round again at each one specifically.
Footnote: This is not about being right or wrong. The sentence just feels out of place for me, something I didn't notice in your other works.
