Ok lets do that. Lets go look at how the real eve game looks like outside EFT:
Race Amounts of it in eve space Caldari 1'200'000 Gallente 1'000'000 Minmatar 670'000 Amarr 635'000
Ship type Amounts of it with these races Amarr/Caldari/Gallente/Minmatar
BC 11'246 / 36'688 / 20'902 / 13'981 BS 18'440 / 40'183 / 31'317 / 14'719 Cruiser 26'394 / 96'072 / 70'447 / 35'775 Frigate 94'489 /219'977 /150'477 /170'625
Source: dev blogs
Let me tell you something about a mmo society. It adapts to changes faster then you think. If something sucks they dont fly it. Loads of caldari ships in space, why? Majority do pve in caldari ships. Loads of gallente ships in space, why? All the pvp'ers stacked up in there because they have all the goodies. Why so few minmatar? Its skill intense to own. Why so few amarr? Pretty skill intense to get equal to other races.
There is nothing that expresses crushing imbalances then statistics over how often a ship/race is used in all mmo's.

I use my abaddon for both PvP and PvE with a nearly identical setup and I burn through Megas and Raven easily. Cap is only an issue if the fight lasts longer than 5 minutes and under 30km. Over 30km - 74km I can go forever. Here's my setup(s):
Hi: 8x Mega Pulse T2 Mids: Heavy Nano. Chem. Injector, Tracking Computer 2, 2x Cap Recharger 2's (change tracking computer to scrambler or webber for PvP. Depends on whether it's gate camping or not.) Lows: LAR 2(I upgraded to a nice named one), 2x EANM 2's, DCU 2, 3x Heat Sink 2 Rigs: Engy Dmg, Engy Opt. Range, SMC 1
Turret Dmg Mod > 10.x per turret
I've PvP'd against my corp mates with massive tanks over 80-90% resistances and ate them alive. Most PvP'ers don't tank as hard and I burn through their shields/armor before they take me under 80% armor. I also have maxed skills in gunnery, engineering, rigs, and electronics.

Good for you. Did you even read the statistics above? So all these gallente and caldari are stupid? These are actually the people that use the phrase "cross train if you dont like your race". So why dont they cross train to amarr if they can melt megas and ravens? Just because a 30mill amarr char can do that against 15mill chars doesnt mean the races are balanced. You are 1 out of hundreds of thousand. Your performance means nothing compared to the statistic above my good sir. So go grow e-peen outside this thread please.

You serious? Youre saying the lack of amarr ships in space is because the amarr pilots are living in EFT? We are not in 5th grade you know.

Amarr arent really a 1v1 race. Im quite content with that. You can go fly Gallente and know you are better than anyone else with your solo pwnmobile.
I'll stick with my terrible amarr ships and keep racking up killings in gangs, it works for me. Besides, its fun when everyone thinks you can do anything in pvp, then they are dead wondering what hit them ^^

You have not quite understood the role of amarr ships and lasers. Why do you think amarr get ****loads of highs/hardpoints + loads of lows and only a few mids? Its because they are supposed to be tank and gank ships and pay for it by having lack of mids. The way it is today is that gallente can tank just as well as amarr, out dps them in typcal pvp ranges, out range them aswell with long range guns and have more mids and bigger drone bays.
Youre just so used to being an underdog that you thinks its normal and paint happy pictures in your head to accept it and not be sad-face all the time.
Btw try racking up kills and melting people with anything else then mega pulse IIs.

1) I was proving a point that Amarr(the abaddon in specific) can be used for PvP 2) grow your e-peen somewhere else and help be more constructive here 3) abaddon is one of the only Amarr ships without cap bonuses and expected to fight with lasers, of course it's going to require MASSIVE skills to make it worthwhile, that's why it requires Amarr Battleship level 3 4) It would only take 15m SP to max the skills I listed 5) You don't fly Amarr, you admitted as such, your opinion has no merit on this topic so quiet up with the criticism 6) I've tested my skills on TQ and during Armageddon(414 MILLION skill points) against other players in battleship combat all day. The only thing nastier than my abaddon was a Hyperion with a full T2 rigs and kit, under 10km with blasters and it was a close fight 7) NOS was the killer of Amarr ships and that was nerfed. Expect to see a rise in Amarr pilots over the next 6months - 1year 8) :P

1) The problem with amarr laser boats arent obvious or present with large t2 pulses, especially the abaddon wich is a great amarr ship. So just because abaddon does allright and is balanced makes a whole races ships balanced? I think not. So this proves nothing really. 2) Did I brag about something in here and implied "well i can do this, but you guys obviously cant"? 3) The abaddon is fine, just fit a cap booster. I had nothing to complain about abaddon. 4) So? 5) Where did i say i dont fly amarr? 6) Again, abaddon is the wrong ship to use. Go try an absolution against an astarte, go try an omen against a thorax, go try a zealot against a vagabond. And who knows how your opponents fitted their ships. And abaddon is a tier 3 BS while a mega is a tier 2. 7) Amarr fitted a cap booster before the nos nerf, it actually nerfed amarr in the way that pilgrim is utterly useless now. You see how the prices rock bottomed after the nerf? Great atleast back then we had 2 ueber recons, the only 2 amarr ships that truly excelled at something compared to other races. Now we dont have anything that people will cross train for just to get that great ship. 8) Post with main my dear?

1) Everyone remembers the gank-geddons with tachs, double damage zealots and absolutions, and the curse. All great ships before the nerf bat hit them. They already "fixed" Amarr several times, each "fix" made Amarr pilots whinier. It's time to stop "fixing" Amarr and leave them be! 2) You misunderstood me, I was pointing out it can be done and you threw insults my way 3) Glad we agree :) 4) You said a 30m sp char can do it against a 15m sp. I was pointing out that on even ground they can do the same. 5) My mistake, confused you with another poster 6) I said Hyperion, Gally Tier 3 BS, not Mega which I feel I could still out DPS/Tank with a Geddon 7) With NOS nerfed Amarrans won't have to worry about their cap being drained in PvP. This will help boost tanking and dealing with laser drain. 8) Done and done.

Im glad that we somewhat drifting to the same direction now
1) Yes everyone remembers those right? You know back then space was filled with amarr ships. After the nerf bat hit them what has happend until today? Amarr ships are the least to be seen in space today. See a connection between good ships and the amounts of it in space? Its pretty obvious that amarr has problems with its laser boats because people simply just dont fly them. Everyone isnt dumb, they know when something is worth flying. So by just looking at the situation now you cant really deny that there still isnt a problem with the race.
4) Most people that say "I killed a (insert more powerful ship) in a (insert weak ship)" have done this either by luck or outskilling (sp-wise) the counterpart. This hardly weighs heavy for argumentation.
6) My bad, wrong ship. Eyes getting tired here too.
7) The nos nerf was a great improvement for eve pvp but it sadly took away our only 2 really good ships that were feared. Atleast amarr people, unhappy or what not, could say o well we have alot of crappy ships but atleast i can fly a curse or pilgrim and have an edge for once.
8) Now that wasnt so bad was it?

The Abaddon IS good... only reason though is because it was designed after all the Amarr nerfs. Just look at the Zealot compared to other HACs... pathetic.

1) Everyone flew Amarr when Tachs were top, then Caldari before the missile nerf, and now Gallante are on the rise. The problem is that when everything is balance that doesn't mean the player count will settle into even numbers. Perceptions are built around pre-existing rumor and information and not always on current fact. You'll continue to see high Caldari and Gallante numbers until people figure out that Amarr aren't really nerfed but require thought and skill. Also, there is a lot less 1v1 combat in EVE now. This doesn't help Amarr ships any since they can't tank 2-5 ships by themselves and as you pointed out Amarr pilots are few and you'll almost never see a gang of them.
4) You're right, anyone can kill anyone with a little work and SP. That's what makes this game great but there is also a statistical average which is what CCP works off of. I believe most calculations are run at average and max skill points(eg, lvl 3 and 5 for training) when considering balance.
7) I agree, it did take away (in)famous ships from Amarr

So why dont they cross train to amarr if they can melt megas and ravens? Just because a 30mill amarr char can do that against 15mill chars doesnt mean the races are balanced. You are 1 out of hundreds of thousand. Your performance means nothing compared to the statistic above my good sir. So go grow e-peen outside this thread please.
You'd be amazed how stupid and gullible people can be. If someone says they suck, most will believe them without doing any research or experimentation themselves. -=^=- "Someday the world will recognize the genius in my insanity." |

So back then when amarr was king with 8xheatsink gankageddons people flew them, either by trying or listening to rumors and when they got nerfed people found another race by hearsaying too?
So the eve community suddenly lost its ship testing skills today? Amarr is good but no one knows about it suddenly?

Amarr isn't overpowered which is what draws people to a race. They are decent and effective when used properly. Decent will never draw crowds will it? Nope, people only want the "best". But there is never a "best" in EVE. It takes a while to learn that. Usually a few ships too. As far as people leaving Amarr that was easy, torpedos 1-shoting frigates, cruisers, and wasting BS's. When you couldn't snipe people from 200km away you took the next best thing, OMGPWNBBQ with a little bit of flight time. When they nerfed missiles people when to blasters. Remember before Amarr how arties were the cool thing and everyone love Minmatar and then they nerfed arties tracking?

amarr fine and with the nos nerf I get my curse fittings for half the price and it's still an awsome solo boat. I like the pilgrim but I need to train recon 5. I fly the little brother arby as well, good little ship.
I love the harbringer for gangs, the abbadon and the geddon do serious damage. Malediction is the best longer range tackler in the game IMO. The ret is a great anti-inty gang support.
Once I have t2 HAMs I'll fly the sacrildge more and I'll soon beable to fly the hertic and the new hacdictor.
The ships are shiney. No good being uba if you don't look good doing it.

Oh yeah im sure amarr is just fine...
Those numbers arent giving an alltogether accurate picture in on that aspect either. Consider more would fly minmatar if their ships werent so ugly as sin, and less would actually fly Amarr if it weren't for the fact they are so golden and sexy looking.
Im a 100% dedicated Amarr pilot, loving every minute of it.

Edited by: chosen1 on 19/10/2007 07:21:42 nvm i`m making a new thread, i want to know how a dev would fit a damn armagedon with T2 pulse/T2 tank/web/scram - pvp basics. (i can`t fit it with all the fitting skills to 5 due to lack of cpu)

Well, Amarr could use a boost in general yes, but the Abbaddon is fine as is. No boost needed, though I guess if you don't like to fit cap mods on your ships maybe you can whine enough for the devs to change its role. There's not much that can beat a plated Abbaddon with good skills, and when they're used correctly it's better than a mega or raven in gang, in most cases. -----------

With a pricetag ~50mil higher than those two ships, it bloody well ought to be better in a gang - and in any other situation for that matter.
