Four months ago I experienced what was, and still is, my most devastating experience in EVE; a corp theft. An infiltrator robbed me and it shattered me financially almost to the point of breaking. I was caught off guard emotionally by the serious abuse of trust that had occurred. It was the only time I had really thought about quitting.
One of the many masks the villain of our story wears is ætranscom caldariÆ. He has gone by many other names in the past and still does, but this was the personÆs æmainÆ as far as I knew at the time.
I was taken for about 38b isk.
Here is the thread about it at the time, please donÆt necro it: http://eve-search.com/thread/527716
It took me a number of weeks, but I finally got over it and was able to put it totally behind me. Then one day something strange happenedà
For those of you that are not from the market forums, I run a public investment scheme where I sell bonds (shares) to investors and give them a monthly interest payment. Earlier this month, I was browsing the list of my shareholders, getting names in preparation of sending an evemail out, when something almost surreal jumped out at me.
It was this: http://capships.com/transcom.jpg
I guess he didnÆt know that CCP had made changes to the corp interface in the mean time that allowed CEOs to view a list of shareholders û thanks CCP ;)
The very person who had ripped me off was now my biggest investor. This took a few minutes of æwtfÆ before it finally sank in. There was only one person who had invested that much in me; a character by the name of R1lewedge. Do not confuse with Rilewedge who is a different person (R1lewedge was created just 3 days after one of transcomÆs alts, veblungnes, was kicked out of RilewedgeÆs corporation).
Now, I had some thinking do to. I thought about simply creating a new corporation and reissuing the shares to everyone who was currently an investor except for him. The problems this would create with æoutdatedÆ shares floating around, and people exploiting this by selling them off as genuine, would be too great, and not fair on any other investors. I had to think up something elseà
I decided to convo him with a bull**** story about a new premium rate investment I was going to run for high volume investors, where they would get an extra percentage point of interest per month. I explained that If he was interested in this special offer that he would need to trade me the existing shares and I would send him shares in the new corporation when they were created. He agreed and transferred me 24,000 shares, which have a total value of 24b isk.
I was quite happy J but my happiness was yet to peak. He informed me that he had a further 12b invested in another bond, and asked if I was willing to trade those for more of my new, premium investment, and then sell the other bonds off. I could not believe my fortune. I agreed.
Of 38b stolen, I got 36b back. Not too bad. Also, he does not yet realise this, he is finding it out as he reads it now (hi ********!).
Anyway, that is my short tale today, I hope some of you got some amusement from it, I sure feel good about it J The moral of the story is if you steal isk from someone, donÆt be an arrogant bastard and try to use it to actually make a profit from that same person, with that same isk; youÆll inevitably get whatÆs coming to you.
