Shortly, I will be able to use cloaking module and while I have searched the forums, I haven't found a faq or comprehensive use doc. I understand the very basics, but I would like to ask if someone has the time/knowledge to address the subject. I will initially be waiting to Cloaking 3 to buy/use the higher quality cloak, and continue training to CovOps.
Any help would be great. Thanks.

What ya wanna know?
The basics are your invisible to visual, overview and scanner systems. You show up on the local channel so people know you are in the system but not where You can not cloak whilst target locked, but you can cloak if you are being locked Speed is slowed by the amount shown on the cloaking device, but skills can lower that There is a delay from decloaking to be able to lock, negated by stealth bomber bonus iirc

Also, area effect damage will de-cloak you. You need 2500m of clear space to cloak, and anything that passes within 2500m of while you are cloaked will de-cloak you. Deadspace clouds and debris fields, wrecks, corpses, cargo cans, Concord billboards, etc all fit the bill for causing de-cloaks.
The covert-ops cloak is the only one that will allow you to warp while the cloak is active. The jump in cloak doesn't count for this. When you enter a sol system you will need to move before you can do anything like warp or activate your cloaking module.

Nothing stops you from alligning while cloaked however, so in a stealth bomber you can actually insta warp if you take the time to allign before you drop your cloak.
Also beware that the cloaking devices give you a steep penalty to your locktime in addition to a speed and targeting delay penalty. Covert Ops frigs/cruisers can negate the second two but not the locktime penalty. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -Alekseyev Ambassador, Fleet Commander, Council Member =The Royal Guard= "=TRG=Public" Channel www.rgrocks.com

A couple of corrections.
1) Area of Effect weapons (i.e. - smartbombs) do not decloak you. 2) An object must pass within 2,000 m of your ship to decloak you.
Please ask some more specific questions. Just asking "tell me everything about cloaking" isn't really a question. The more info you give us, even like what ship you want to use it on, will help us help you.

Re: Natalie Jax
First, thanks to all who offered advice. The second part of this is to Natalie Jax, who did help with ideas...the problem being, I don't know enough to ask a quality question...I just needed some basics that would help me learn for myself. The type of information that would start me on the road. If I knew more, I would have asked a better set of questions. You helped, for that thanks.

Edited by: L0st S0ul on 28/09/2007 13:45:48 very simple to use, stick it on your slot, undock, press cloak.
Your ships speed is reduced to what the module states(covops II no restriction), you can fly about as normal just no warping or mwd until uncloaked. -----------------------------------------------
