Every week in the Warp Drive Active PodCast Winterblink (The Canadian) and Urban Mongral (the Brit) will bring you the goings on in EVE (except for the stuff we miss, forget or deliberately ignore).
Warp Drive Active Podcast is part of the VirginWorlds Podcast Collective
Click here to listen/download Episode 14
Show 14, better late than never! Urban has moved house and hasn't ironed all the bugs out of his sound setup yet (It does get better during the course of the show though) He suffers in work from a horrible obsolete programming language.
Huge scrap in XID between BOB and Redswarm, BOB gives a pep talk to R I S E, It doesn't to have done a whole lot of good though.
In the constant madness of the North, it looks like Fallen Souls have been kicked out everywhere they used to own up there.
EVE university gets a load of war dec's from people who get a kick out of killing noobs!
At the request of Wilhelm we do a noob guide to tanking. For more information check out the excellent EVE Tanking made by Nyphur.
For homework this week, Blinky chooses a bit of classic Anime Voices of a Distant Star by Makoto Shinkai.
EVETV Episode 13 is free We hope this is the start of things to come. We also like the Brightcove player a lot more than the Jalipo player.
The Sisters of EVE Fanfest passes are out! Let your spouse escape the uber geekness in the convention centre!
Beyond that, just the usual random sidetrackage, gibbering and tinfoil hattery.
Lead out tune "What a Beautiful Day" by Levellers.

About time, I hope your move went well Urban, been a cold lonely couple of days on the bus to work without you two nattering away in my ear.
Anyway Stage6 = Much better than brightcove. I really wish MMM/EVEtv would just try it, just once... I bet they would love it.

Congratulations on another great podcast, and getting my name right .
However, I would like to call you on Minmatar ships shield tanking. Not all do, we have both armour and shield tanking ships in our line up (just another area where we have to do more work than the other 3 races to be on a level playing field!)
Not that I mind the extra training time much, 'cos when I train up for other ships, I just need the spaceship command and racial gun skills, then I'm set .
Akkarin
Hopefully the mods won't play with this one

Oh we by no means cavort around claiming this to be a definitive guide to tanking. :) Just a very basic one for those who might not know the foundation stuff. There's all sorts of complexities with different races and different ships for a particular race (as you say, Minmatar can do both-ish).
Just meant to give folks a taste. :)

One of those fun hidden thingies that isn't documented in the game. Once you figure it out, you'll find your setups can become far more efficient, fitting-wise.

Well like most of our intros, we come up with them spur of the moment with very little thought or preplanning. :)

You should have had Urban Mongral's screams in the background as he was blended.

That was actually something Urban himself suggested (and I had a great girly scream soundbite all ready to go for that too) but I had some stuff going on and couldn't refine the edit.

EPIC BUMPAGE! I WAS IN THE PODCAST! WOOT WOOT!
Voices went right to the top of my Netflix que, just behind volume 2 of Black Lagoon. I'm curious if anyone's seen The Place Promised in our Early Days, for some reason the description of Voices reminded me of it.
I must also express profound disappointment that you, Winterblink, as a self-professed anime fan, have not seen Martian Successor Nadesico. That would help you to pronounce my character's name correctly, I think, and it's also highly entertaining as a complete send-up mockery of Giant Robot Anime.
Also, not to overstay my welcome, but as a Minmatar character I must also point out that it's difficult to pigeonhole our tanking preferences, as half our ships have far more low slots than mids (Hurricane, Rupture, Typhoon), but our only two ships with tanking bonuses both get them to shields (Cyclone and Maelstrom).
Perhaps a n00b guide, "So you want to play Minmatar" Otherwise, entertaining as always fellas!

Edited by: Urban Mongral on 26/09/2007 23:08:26 Hey RuriHoshino, Thanks for all your Epic bumpage!
To be fair, I should point out that it was I who messed up the pronunciation of your name, not Winterblink. My apolgies for this though.
I've heard quite a few people saying good things about Voices, so I'm looking forward to checking it out when Amazon finally gets around to sending the DVD to me.
As for the noob guide, as we said it was just the basic's and certainly should not be taken as a complete guide. However I think we can all agree that the Typhoon is a pretty damn strange ship though and through. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

We can totally agree on that. I call it the Skillphoon, personally, because you need all the skills to fly the thing.
And I know it was you butchering my name, but I blame Winterblink anyway for not correcting you

Very good showing, for the both of you, found the tank guide very interesting, and that nifty little feature y'all mentioned of combining passive and active modules to negate the stacking pentaly is going to be very useful. Thanks.
