Someone brought this up and I think its a great idea...
It will cut down on all the corpses out there and allow salvagers to retreive possible implants.

This is a pretty cool idea but I would see it being more balanced if salvaged implants were somehow "degraded." For example, a corpse that was carrying a full head of +4 attribute implants upon salvage would yield 2-3 +3 or +2 implants.

Maybe standard implants (that only give + to attributes) survive unscathed but named and faction/named implants (those that give other bonuses) take a penalty hit of some sort like they loose 1 attribute point or 1% of their extra bonus. ------------ This is not War... In one of the EONs, there was a mention of a possible "mobile-morgue" ship that would freeze, store, and then dissect corpses so you can get their skills and implants. Maybe the mobile-morgue ship is the fifth TII ship class that was mentioned in the blog, but won't be in Revelations 3 due to a lack of current resources?

Or some "broken" implant you could repair with the right tools/skills and multiple broken implants.

Edited by: wictro on 13/09/2007 19:05:32 I guess it was me with the idea.
the iplants should be a semi-rare drop, as propably the corpse aint fully intact.
it has a WW-II feeling, where rifle's stock hammered a lot of neat gold tooth of non-healthy soldiers.
+1 implants should have higher drop rate than +5, as they stay intact better, as they are build more simple/ using lower, sturdier tech.

I would also allow the biomass to be used in some way to decrease time between clone jumps (well, actually I'd just decrease the time from 24 hours to 18 hours, but barring that, I'd do this).

OR you can leave the the chance that the implats are intact and not degrade them and there might be a chance some are destroyed when podeded but the ones that survive are the ones you can keep.
Say he had set of plus 4s 3 get destroyed you get 2 none of this degrading bullshI :P

Oooooo. New module, along the same lines of a Salvager.
CREMATOR BEAM ------------- Same range as a salvager. Has a low % chance of removing implant intact Has a higher % chance of giving a component of some kind (datacore, salvage stuff, or just plain biomass) Skill requirements: Salvage 5 (come on, you know this needs to be a specialization) Biomass Dissection / Cremation / Embalming / Something Morbid (each level increases percent chances above)

the corpses should not decay, as its almost 0 kelvin there.
daily DT can remove em, to prevent clutter.

Not quite 0, if I recall space can never get to 0 kelvin due to residual background radiation. Comes close though, like a few degrees off.

how about a new function for medical services in stations. if u bring em a corpse u scooped in space theyll give u a refine quote according to ur standings like repro plants. but this time theyll show u the stuff which they could gain out of the corpse. so if ur standings are bad u will miost likely have to accept that the stn will charge u some of the more expensive plants but if ur standings a re great theyll just keep some rubish and phosphor and amino acids.
making this illegal in empire space should make this a lil more complicated and interesting for dedicated "borderzone"-salesmen.
alos u could add a new branch of bloodraiders who facilate this kind of medical services or create even a new pirate faction which is dedicated in gaining the dead remains of lifeforms in order to gain spezial organic components for some other kind of morbid ritual/self-enhancement/nutrition/shipbuilding etc.
theres a jovian bloodlines called "the modifiers". they could have a interest in biomass for their genetic engeneering etc.
there so many ideas..
ccp u just have to use this somehow

Yeah but don't forget the horrible, horrible solar winds that tear apart and plague all the fragile molecules you find in living matter, as well as wreak havoc on electronics.
I still like the idea though. I think it would encourage pvp.

This would result in a price drop of implants. Many more would afford +5 sets and CCP would have to introduce sets up to +10 because people would probably start taking their implants for granted.

New Mini Profession in EVE... The BioSalvager. aka "The Corpsers"
Would require a bunch of biology and science skills to get top returns on corpses. Maybe each lvl of biosalvage skill will let you salvage the corresponding lvl of implant. Lvl 1 Biosalvage skill will result in only +1 implants. Lvl 5 skill will return +5 implants (assuming the survive the random generator)
OR
2 skills that when learned together allow you to salvage the (I hear they exist) +6 implants and/or named/faction implants
This would force someone to train a Lvl 5 to get the best implant salvage
Maybe could entwine this with the booster producers.. use corpse biomass to produce new types of boosters with even more effects. ------------ This is not War... This is pest control - Dalek Sek

Not signed.
Then make it so the extraction reduces the point value of the implants. Sure you'd reduce the market value for lower end implants, but the upper tier stuff remains the same since they'd never be extractable at full value (or at least very rarely able to be).

Perhaps you need 2 lvl 5 skills to be decently successful at salvaging +5 and higher implants. ------------ This is not War... This is pest control - Dalek Sek

I would say no more "decently successful" than the chances you'd have of salvaging the best salvage parts from ship wrecks.

Yeah, if a sucessful extraction would be as common as an officerspawn i'd have nothing against it.

Now if only we could get the implants info to say WHo the implant came from..
"This implant was extracted from the frozen corpse of (insert name here)"
Hmm maybe a new market would be built on the implants of your enemies..
Sir Molles implants.. 50mill Ginger Magicians implants.. 40mill Random Newbie implants.. 1mill
A whole new wave of *cough* named *cough* implants.

i think this could only work if you didn't salvage complete implants, but implant components, then players build the implants (or turn them in for LP with a faction that "sells" implants). ========================================== Iy
