As of yesterday we (Aunni Ti Tsuun Consortium) are out of the tournament, ending up third place in a quite harsh group consisting of us, IAC (4th largest alliance), FREGE (second largest alliance), Morsus Mihi (8th largest alliance) and Aftermath (smaller, but quite good at what they do).
A few weeks ago while we were sitting around bored with a merc dec on our corporation one of our members approached me saying that we could still join the alliance tournament if we wanted, told me about the rules of the tournament and how the deposition fee would look. It got my interest up and after confirming with my CEO and the rest of commandstaff I talked to a ally of ours about using his alliance for the tournament. He agreed and our 50-man strong corporation joined up and applied for the tournament.
We ended up in what I still today consider one of the hardest groups of the tournament with two "obvious winners" in Morsus Mihi and IAC. We decided to give it our best anyhow.
First match we lost, our torp-ravens with Huginn couldn't stand up to the sensordamping.. Second match we lost because our last two ships MWD'd outside of arena border as they had the last Drake nearly in armor. Third match we couldn't stand up against the nano-ishtars. Fourth match we won with a droneswarm.
We ended up third and we are very proud of our team. We didn't come to the tournament with any fancy implants (I've got some mixed lg/hg crystals but didn't fly a single shieldtank) and our participants went from 5m to 45m SP. We fought and we laughed, as the tournament should be and noone regrets entering.
Why am I writing this? For every little corp/alliance that looks at the tournament and thinks "Oh they are all so big, have so much cash, what are we going to do?", the answer should be "We're gonna beat them". Size, money and high skillpoints is all good and a big help but all of those things can be beaten. Put your heart to it, get some friends together and play around. Get ideas and put them into action. From the lowliest noob to the highest veteran, EVE is for you.
I imagine we'll see people next year again though probably under another name.
Good luck to Morsus Mihi and IAC for beating us and advancing and good luck to all the RP alliances who has done very well in the tournament.
Sincerely Ladel Teravada Proud RPer and Teamcaptain

Oh.. Almost forgot. Thanks to ATTC alliance and the co-executors of Roy Gordon and Irias Salo for allowing us to "use" their Alliance-name during the tournament. Very nice of them.

Congrats on your accomplishments, its good to see CAIN saying "let's try this, what's the worst that can happen?", its a good attitude to have.
Watch the range to center beacon next time though .

It was ATTC's pleasure to allow CAIN to fight under our name. You fought well and showed that even roleplayers can fight .

You fought well. You were unlucky against us, but you came back strongly, nearly defeating IAC, and defeating FREGE, which actually put us through to the last 16.
As Xyliana said, I hope to see you in the next tournament.

Thanks for the great tournament guys, I dreamed of taking part when watching the winter tournament, and it's testament to Ladel's efforts, and how far our corp has come in the last year that we were able to make a showing.
And yes, I replay that second match in my head daily, brooding and obsessing over my epic fail. But hey, I got a Raem Civrie killmail, that was worth the entrance fee.
See you next time!

There is something about walking into a fight as fair as possible and just duking it out. There is a camaraderie among combatants. (Unfortunately I was not able to get in a ship and be a part of the select few flying the flag of SF but their is a sort of proxy.) On top of that we have a history of conflict in game. It's good to see hardcore RPers there as well along with all the other groups (AM and NAMTZ.) We are glad you entered.
I wish I could have a drink with you guys at fanfest but I won't be there most likely. So ... e-cheers CAIN.
I hope to see you, the other RPers and all the other participants next tourney to make the next one as good or better. ---------------------------------- An informal Star Fraction FAQ | ---------------------------------- |
