If you don't care for the story jump down 2 paragraphs
A few days ago, I had my iteron V warping between asteroid belts looking for good ore (silly, i know). One belt had serpantis ships in, so I warped out to a gate. I noticed that I was still getting shot at by seemingly invisible ships, so i tried to jump through the gate, only to get a 'Session allready in change' message. I was then blown up.
So I thought, this is that that desync issue people have been complaining off, and off I went to try and petition my iteron back. Cue the standard 'theres nothing wrong according to our logs' response.
However, I'm just wondering whether the fact that I tryed to jump through a gate while the servers thought i was in an asteroid belt would make them reconsider. Or there's the possibility that logs showed me at a jump gate, while getting shot at by belt rats.
So, it is worth continueing the petition? It was rejected with me describeing the situation above. Should I try and excalate it to someone who would be able to check stuff like that out?

retry lest 2 times for desynch my buddy has had a desynch and 1st petition come back NO, 2nd one comes back with his ship.
I dunno if some of the mods just dont look into it much or dont care and reject them out of hand, i am sure alot of people try to get ships back for all kind of reasons and might just be tired or reading "waaa my ship blew up...." and just say no.
But then you get the guys that look into it and take it more seriously.

CCP won't reimburse anything unless their own logs show that there is something wrong. This is because anything client side could have been modified in some way to the petitioners advantage. Unfortunately, the nature of desync means that their server logs won't show anything, because the server thinks you are somewhere, and perfectly fine. The problem is that the client and server are thinking different things, but you can't use client logs as proof because, as I already mentioned, they could have been edited.

It's funny how CCP's logs are complete toilet until they are 'proving' that they DIDN'T give their favourite alliance free stuff.
Tickles me every time.

GM's and high ranking dev's have access to very different logs, with very different levels of detail.

Not if you don't want them to use them to their advantage in-game.
It's a common issue with a lot of client/server applications. Client says one thing, and Server says another. It's usually code in the client machine that is the cause. But, with them not looking at, or even interested in client logs, it could be a looooong time before a resolution is reached.

No need, they are likely useless for that sort of thing. That's why I said they were different. It was an answer to how the dev's investigate stuff, when the GM's apparently have crappy logs that don't show anything.
