After listening to what they just said on Eve TV, I do think "As the GM sees fit" is a bit much. At least for the big things that might happen (like fielding too many points), should have a clear response, and smaller things should use what is already set.
Just my half a cent for the future.

I know that both sides and the majority of the watchers are keen for spaceship gore. I personally was rather disappointed that the match didn't go ahead being my first alliance battle and I know this sentiment was felt by the other team.
There was alot of confusion in the rush to get the battle going and the only real solution I can see is a rematch of the same teams with the same setup/characters.
true, it would have been nice to just force the goonies to drop one of their members and get the fight to go ahead with fixed teams, the penalty was a little harsh, BUT, rules are rules, and if that's the penalty for breaking the rules, then so be it.
as pointed out by the guys on the eve tv couch - it's not like they formed they just logged in and warped to the arena right away, they had pleanty of time to get the team sorted. like i said, harsh descision, but could have been avoided, tbh. ========================================== Iy

we are being harsh with the rules because we want no problems and no delays. if you said there was 1 to many people sooner and not waited upto 10mins, the outcome might have been different.
but i will not change the rules while the tournament is running and i/we will take the actions if any other alliance does this.
i'm sorry if you feel this is unfair, but rules are rules.
I didn't talk of unfairness, I talked about harshness. What you did wasn't against the rules but also wasn't specified in them; I can reasonably take that the same penalty will be applied in the future for the same situation.

Originally by: Ahistaja This ruling is quite lame and unfair, and GMs could've easily handled it fairer. It was a mistake, caused by people crashing out of this game, scrambling for replacements, it's not like GS sneakily sought an unfair advantage with this. They could've easily made the extra person bugger off, but used it as an excuse to screw with goons. Whatever.
It is a clear case of CCP "getting even" with goons by giving them maximum s..t because for past regressions, and it's nice to see BoB and other people in this thread recognizing it as such.
I shed a tear for you.. I really did.

it also didn't help your case attacking the other team at the exit beacon, which we are still discussing inhouse.
Is their a rule you can't kill anyone at a exit gate?
If not all is fair as love and war.
Though i'd be a nice story to hear. "How do you kill... that which has no life?"

You are not even allowed to be at the same exit beacon as the other team to start with.

For the first few matches there was only one exit beacon.
