There is another post here about probably "only saying probably since I don't want to get to any argument about whether they did or didn't" false accusations against veto corp. I made one post, and ignored it since and there seems to be some controversy over my statements. This isn't about the accusations rather use of the word LAME, which is why IĈm making a separate thread.
This is my own opinion and doesn't represent my corp or alliance. I would like to state that... A. I do not break ransoms B. I've never seen 4Rings or D-L use loggin tactics, nor do I use them. C. I do not scam D. I have NEVER, EVER, on ANY account been a corp thief. E. I pride myself on keeping my word for better or for worse "even going so far as suiciding my raven on a destroyer after making a threat to once".
If I speak to you I will speak to you with Respect and Dignity unless you do something to deserve otherwise. I do believe that there is honor in EVE in keeping one's word, and talking respectfully & being helpful/sincere in one's conversation. If you ask for my help I will GLADLY give it to you.
I was simply stating that the word LAME is thrown around WAY too much. No matter what perspective and goals you have the end in PVP in EVE it's about doing damage, getting more loot, and/or taking the fewest losses possible. By definition something that is lame is something that does exactly that, but has been labeled because it did it too well for some odd reason.
I see no difference between killing someone in lowsec against their wishes, using Nanos, WCS "though I think they nerf your setup to ****", logon tactics, and other methods of achieving this. It's all a matter of where you draw the line.
Contrary to what most people like to believe it isn't black & white. There is a broad spectrum of actions. Lame is where you put it on the spectrum. There is often a general public perception as to where to draw the line, but it is just that a perception not a concrete actuality.
It hurts no less by what means I destroy you, only how efficiently it is done. I am not with or against the claims against vet. I simply do not see why people so brazenly draw the line at loggin tactics.
P.S. If you respond with respect & dignity I will show you the same. Regardless of if we're on the same side of the argument or not. "Honor"

1. lol at that thread
2. I do my best to act how you say you do and to my memory have not done otherwise.
3. It's just a game. I treat it like a game; I have nothing against a person just because I blew up their pixelated ship, that's just what I do in the game. If they can't understand that, that's entirely there problem.
If people want to use dubious tactics and say ridiculous things, act arrogant, etc. then I do what I can about it. If I can't change that then tough ****, just got to move on, and be glad that I can because it's just a game.
btw sorry if I entirely missed the point of your post, it's kinda 1:35 AM where I'm at and I was a little confused to begin with.

Some of us prefer to play the game to a higher standard while being evil pirates. However, its your subscription fee-if these tactics work for you and your corp is happy to use them--knock yourself out .

Personally, I draw the line at where the game ends; thats where you log in and log off.
I think you will find that alot of other people can see the distinction between what is in the game and what is outside the game, that is why logon traps and alogging off in combat is construed as being lame by the majority of players.
The people who use logon.logoff tactics fail to realise that this is an rpg and should try to atleast play a bit ic, if not by what they say then atleast by their actions ingame.
Playing this game is not always about winning or losing at all costs, its about enjoying the game and I think the lamers who use logon/logoff destroy part of the game not only for other people, but ultimatey for themselves.

I say lame them. That way they can't run off very fast. Use webbers and warp scramblers/disruptors to keep them from getting away quickly, then you can kill them. It's really the only way to get kills in PvP, otherwise, they'll just warp away when you start shooting them.

Relax...relax...chill. What he said especially in light of your OP that I read to mean you feel WCS are valid for use on combat ships. Your fellow pilot was full combat fit...just unlucky at a gate to get snared. The wingman (in a second Mrymi) got away as I was the only one in a position to tackle and picked one at random .

I'm not angry "well ok maybe a little at the troll". Honestly I pointed out that WCS screw with your setup, and i meant that i wouldn't use it because of the penalties. But if someone DOES use it to effect, or rather thinks he's using it to effect not to be discourged by claims of it being "lame".
Anyways, I just don't think it pertains to this thread. The thread is more or less supposed to be about people's readiness to call anything unique/innovative lame, mostly because they got it used against them with sucess. Unless you have a point with your response I'm missing here. ___________

I don't understand all the fuss..
It is after all a module available in game, it is there for people to use it, people have every right to use it in what ever way they like regardless if other people like it or not or if they feel the module gimps the setup. Whatever works for you. People that complain about not getting the kill due to someones use of stabs is just people who didn't fit for bringing such targets down. Doesn't matter if they feel that 4 scramblers is overkill or gimp their setup, it can be done.
I feel the same way about this type of discussion in every other game I've played and as a silly comparison I'm going to mention the AWP in CS, I don't play on servers where it is prohibited, that said I don't use it often either but I feel it is part of the damn game so accept it or go play something else.

Edited by: RuleoftheBone on 21/08/2007 11:20:44 With the coming NOS balance long range/overheated 2 pt scrams will be very useful indeed. Then those who choose to fight with minimum 2 stabs in the lows are gimped beyond recognition.
Suggestion--fit to win instead of fitting to run/lose/die .
Change is a good thing .
BTW...just an overall observation. NOT directed at the OP.

Well honestly the only thing login traps really hide you from is local chat. And that's pretty much out of character anyways. Even so the process of logging on/off "the 2 min timer, 15 min with aggression" is inharrently a part of the game.
Everyone knows about & uses the logon/logoff timer and it's accepted. Everyone knows about & uses local and it's accepted. It's no more then an extention, or loophole around that. People are already using those & being cheered on for it, logon/logoffs are no different except in the way that they are viewed. ___________

Log in traps are in essence a form of exploit, using out of game resources (voicecomms) to gain an advantage in game, and imo show a distinct lack of tactical imagination. A win at all costs tactic if you will.

Thi is how I see things, I am sure othes will disagree.
Use any module, ship, or underhand tactic you want, however you want, if it works it works. People are too quick to call "lame" on any effective fitting/tactic which they personally dislike or which deviates from standard gank vs tank pvp. So to that extent I agree that lame is badly overused.
However, logon/logoff tactics take a player outside the game to gain an ingame advantage. Frankly in any game I have ever played that is outright cheating and if you do it you should expect to be condemned for it.
