all amarr ships have solid hull based engines, or which look like they are part of the ship.
the apoc looks like it had bits tacked on
But...harbinger...omen...both of those look a bit "mounted drives" operational too. And the look sweeeet-ah

The best of all Amarr ships is the Prophecy and the command ships based on it. Looks like a ship that really means business but I just wish the DPS backed it up.

Aye.
I'd say, take one(or two) guns out of the harbinger, add some more dronespace(as it looks like a carrier), maybe one more low slot, add two(or one) gun to the prophecy and such n such.
Make the prophecy a gunboat, the harbinger more a droneboat.
Would fit look and style more.

Eg the Dominix, one of the old warhorses of the yaddayaddayaddda... If it's old, take it out of commission, design a sexier version and put it on the market. Don't forget to make a good news item out of it.
Kas
maybe they really should redesign the domi after it does look like a giant ****e

I hope they do re-design the Dominix - make it more angular and brutal looking, after-all it way pre-dates the more organic-looking modern Gallente designs. ----------

Ah it's just a cheap mans blockade runner.
A few cargo expanders, i-stabs, mwd, WCS if you want(does hinder the istab/expander ratio), a dampener and even lasers to take out some lone frigate(maybe, with luck). With three basic expanders you already have a 750m3 cargo, which is plenty, in a fast enough ship with some defence and decent armor.
It's a simple setup and i've not yet mastered it, but seems to work wonders

All other sci-fi movies and games got sleek streamlined ships. Thats so dull, and I love the old ships that has the clear functionality over design appearance.
Symmetic = boring, you see it everyday all around you.
Moa, Ferox, Scorpion, Raven brilliant designs. I adore the Typhoon and Tempest.

Edited by: Krash Traxx on 13/08/2007 13:34:24 Minmater ships have the best look of all!
And that comes from an Abaddon pilot :)
but all races have nice ships. Caldari with their asymetric have this funktion over design look, Gallente are very extravagant, Amarr ships just slap everyone in the face with a "we are better then you" look (I think :) ) and minmater looks to me like the most realistic off all.
Space stations are a different thing... amarrs are just too small for me, but looking great. Gallante have the best looking spacestations for me. Minmaters look like huge factorys, and caldari... well they are caldari.
But at all I can find no 'ugly' ship or station in eve, they all look great in their own way.

I will agree with you here, with the exception of the Raven. Even the moa I can live with.
The raven, to me, looks nothing like what a battleship should. For one, it has this bridge structure right at the front looks more like a*****pit than anything. The flat surface that it portrudes from looks gaudy. That strange structure under the starboard wing looks ridiculous, like it's some sort of tinker toy or something. I'm all for asymmetry, but at least make the ship look like a battleship.
The raven could be scaled down to a frigate size and no one would think it was out of place. If you scaled down the phoon, mega, any of the Amarr battleships (which are all sexy, in my opinion) to frigate dimensions, it just wouldn't look right. The Rokh is great too, though I think they could have made the model a little larger.
Increase the wingspan. Get rid of the boxiness. Something. I can't stand looking at the thing.
The Tempest, Typhoon, Scorpion, and Ferox are all terrific-looking ships.

Decomissioning a line and starting a new one to replace it would be interesting, but would just end up driving up the price on the ship that was decomissioned giving it nearly faction ship rarity after a bit, but then, those aren't so rare anymore are they
And other stuff needs fixed first
Amen to that! I am attached at the hip with my typhoon. You guys may think its the ugliest ship in the game, but I like the fact that it is ugly and looks like it can swallow other battleships whole and for added measure, it has a battering ram buttressed to the side for...."dog fighting" purposes!
However, I do agree with coltaine. The maelstrom is flat out the most beautiful ship in eve...BUT...that is the limit of sleek sexyness I will allow for minmatar ship design. There are no metrosexual minmatar ship designers ccp! I read it in the historical articles go look for yourself, it says it in black and white. "Minmatar ship designers draw inspiration from their totally awesome manliness". "There is talk of future minmatar ship designs of having the donated chest hair of the entire minmatar rebel army painsakenly grafted onto ship hulls". _______________________________________________ RuntimeError: ChainEvent is blocking by design, but you're block trapped. Come to think of it, regarding battleships:
Typhoon is the only Minmatar BS I'd fly based on looks, and Abaddon the only Amarr. The rest look awful to me.
Gallente and Caldari look good for the most part, though not too thrilled about the Scorp. Well, Domi obviously doesn't look good, in the normal sense, but it looks great in it's ugliness (see previous post about faction domi.)
Rokh looks good, but yeah, it should be bigger, and it should make those "sundecks" on the side far smaller. Then it would look great. Sort of like a shotgunish locomotive.
Gallente shuttle is one of the most beautiful ships in this game....What? Yes, I'm serious.

Caracal is a fine looking ship, Exequror however looks like a pile of poo (and before u all start i fly gallente almost exclusively) -- War is like any other bad relationship. Of course you want out, but at what price? And perhaps more importantly, once you get out, will you be any better off? |

Now i also mentioned symmetry. Symmetrical ships look much better then the old ones (Moa shudder) and this also makes them a lot more fun to fly.
That is sooooooooo subjective that it is not even worth discussing =)
I would love to see the old ships getting freshed up though (poly-count buff and textures). But I would hate if they would be re-designed all over.

They arent so much as being re-designed as being given a visual boost! all the little touches that impossible before are being modelled and textured.
Bland and bare sections of the ships are being brought alive by detail and previously ugly clumps of polygons are being given some love. Before a light or bright spot on a texture could denote the ships bridge with the update im sure we will see that area subtely transform.

Decommision the ships but have them still available at the same price and function of the new ones?
Okay so RP wise it wouldn't make any sence but we get the new ship designs people want and the old ones still there for people who like them. ------------

I saw the thread topic and thought "Well, that's gonna get Nyarlethotep pretty irked, I think he likes the design of the Old Ones pretty well."
On the thread topic, though- I think most of the ships are pretty reflective of their respective races. Maybe a model update is in order when the DX10 client comes out, more detail and so forth.

Agreed. Prophecy really looks mighty and integral, unlike all these log-style ships.
Re-design can actually mean the addition of some poligons, but that's all about it. ---

All of the first generation ship designs could be fixed easily...
Cut them vertically fore-to-aft, mirror one half to the opposite side, and voila... fixed. And it wouldn't break any of the distinctive racial visual aspects of any ship whatsoever.

a navy abaddon would be cool
