The computer is on, but the lights on the monitor are flashing, and the lights on the keyboard are flashing. The monitor displays nothing.
Im thinking the motherboard is trashed? What do you guys think?

What beep code do you get from the motherboard? Look it up in the manual.

When computers start they usually "beep". This beep actually means something. On startup you may hear a different series of beeps. With the manual in hand for that motherboard the beeps can tell you what problem it thinks it is having. You need the manual since sadly there has never been any standardization to this so different beep codes mean different things on different PCs.

its another computer, not the one im on.
I cant restart, or start the computer, as the monitor isnt working.
I suppose I could do the whole hold down the power button till it turns off though.

Edited by: Scorpyn on 06/08/2007 13:49:23 Are you sure it's not just in standby mode or something?

I've seen computers get stuck in standby mode, so I wouldn't rule that out tbh. If you're able to restart the computer normally, check the settings and disable standby mode if possible.
It could also be that someone started a program that tried to change the output to the monitor to something that the monitor doesn't support. In that case, alt+tab or ctrl+alt+del should get you back to windows.
