Edited by: Valandril on 03/08/2007 22:28:46 Pppl complain, carriers only sit and hug pos forcefield, which is true, but problem is that moment u field carrier, u get turned off by 1 t1 cruiser called celestis. Yes, thats all you need, and thats the reason why ppl won't field carrier, because u won't be able to do anything so better just sit and assign fighters.
"use triage u nub", triage remove ur ability to launche drones and make u sit for 10minutes what is not good(also boost our cargo, now we need to keep stront :P) and not everyone wanna just focus on remote repping, carrier can make nice dps support + repping.
So simple sollution - give them immunity to sensor dampeners, u stil can turn them off with ecm, but it will be harder and NOT permament, and thanks to that there will be more carriers on fields, less in poses whichc is what everyone want, right ?

Train long range targeting 5. Fit 1-2x SS sensor booster. Stay within 20kms of your gangmates. Primary the celestis(I hear they don't tank very well). Assign fighters to your gangmates rather than using them yourself.

I dont think problem is with carriers... The problem is overpowered module called remote sensor dampener... and if you start using sensor boosters to prevent being sensor damped on carrier, it will hurt your cap recharge (less cap rechargers in med slots) and prevent you from doing one of the most important carrier tasks - remote repping...
But making carriers immune to dampners would be too much in my opinion...

Did u read the post ? Point is to use carrier itself, not as assigning biatch.
I got 4 cap rechargersII and SS sensor booster on my thanny and 1 celestis will still kill me, loosing another cap rehcarger is bad idea, it will almost totaly gimp u and celestis will still pretty nerf you. ---

The best solution is probably to make sensor strength affect dampers somehow, so they aren't overly powerfull against capships. Potimaly you'd want to form a curve that is nearly flat in the area of subcapital ships, but pulls up sharply afterwards...

This would lead to sensor damp nerf which is fine but how do u see it in pracitce ? Maybe that sensor strenght is a % value of sensor damp effectivness on ship, so carriers would have 76% reduction in sensor dampeners effectivness.
Sounds fine with me, will make sensor dampening harder on bigger ships, which is very logical for me. ---

Get some corp mates to fit a Remote Sensor Booster, 1 per corp mate will be more then enough.

[Captain Obvious=Daelin Blackleaf]
Increase the base lock range.
A carrier has around vastly higher sensor strength than a battleship to help counter ECM It is immune to tracking disruption It is immune to target painting It has only around 1/4 higher base lock range than a battleship to help counter damps
[/Captain Obvious]
Rokh: Strength 24 - Range 90km Chimera: Strength 80 - Range 110km Strength +233% Range +22%
And at the other end of the spectrum...
Maelstrom Strength 21 - Range 75km Nidhoggur: Strength 68 - Range 88km Strength +224% Range +29%
As much as damps are evil and cruel somehow I don't think they're the culprit here.

Good, this proves the game mechanics are working as they should be. In case you havent noticed your carrier is a support vessel, hence should not be fielded alone! have your gang mates target the EW ship.

The EW ship? Its not one EW ship..I would nerver engage a gang with carrier support without having all my support ships and the BS ships who can afford it to fit a sensor dampener...why? its just simple..fit one module at the support ships and you can "remove" a carrier from the battle..with a small gang and lets say 5-7 support ships you can put at least 7 dampeners on a carrier...thats far enough

They just need to fix the sensor dampeners. Maybe reduce their current effectiveness by 25% or something.

That and certain instability issues in large battles make them just as effective dishing out fighters at a pos, if not more so. It is impossible to use them in a remote repping capacity in the enviroment that would actualy need them. I would love to take my carrier into a large fleet fight as would many many others but currently the risks far outway the gains; Thats without being dampened out of the picture.
But as for damps, they effect all ships equaly, yet different sized ships have different array strengths against ECM, so maybo size of ship needs to be included into the dampening forumlar.
ALso carriers as with many ships in eve for fleet or fight battles etcs needs to fit a sensor booster at least.
Until then get a EOS with links and mindlink running with 1 sensor booster or go two sensor boosters and call those ECM targets. anti-ecm FOF drones anyone :o).
For those who dont fly carriers currently you can imagine this: Your in Jita, 3 min module response time and your mate in a BS is taking dmg from all of local and your in Triage mode in your carrier with 3 sensor boosters running and enough remote armour repping power to cover the dmg he is taking twice over. Would he live or would he die. You know the answear then why you just see carriers at POS's.
