I agree, the more hype there is, the more suspicious you should get, that's what I do before considering buying any game on the market nowadays. |

I like it because it is story and choice driven, and I imagine that's probably why its a game you'll either love or hate. When I first tried it during the beta, I thought it sucked because it really wasn't what I was expecting. I knew it was story driven, but, didn't know there was so much damn dialogue to it. (TBH there is too much damn dialogue sometimes.)
Now I don't like the fact that there is no out-of-game features, such as the ability to look at your character info on the web and such. Really, come on dudes. That and the forums suck hard (no search???? what the christ).
I played a lot of MMO's and I don't think SWTOR even has a right to call themselves an MMO. As far as singleplayer goes, where I live I am suppose to pay almost 70 EURO to be able to play it for only 1 month and the great story is like 2 hours for bounty hunter I played to level 50. The rest is missions/content that are the same for all classes all involving kill this and pick up that. So if I want to experience a "full campaign" again I need to play 1class on republic, then good luck finding someone willing to do it all over again... To put it into perspective, Skyrim comes with 300+-hours out of the box+no limit to when and for how long I can play it, also it supports mods and have a better community lol I got x10times more value and a better single player game from knights of the old republic 1 and 2 each. Also there are no multipleendings anyway, Mass Effect 1 had more content for DLC.
So no I don't hate it being story driven, I doubt you will find people who do, but the story is not good, short and extremly repetitive. Everyone I know pushed through to 50 on one character, not one of them wants to do it again or with a different one and at 50 the PVP is worse than even warhammer online, the PVE content is terrible and mostlybroken and glitched anyway.
You know they just added search function to their forums... That should tell you something about what else that is missing if not even their forum is worth 2 cents.
I am happy you enjoy it, but I doubt anyone can after maximum a month or 2, 60-70 euro+monthly subs later down the drain and their new content coming is about zombies... |

You are right, I still thought Bioware was as great as they use to be, I loved their games since Baldurs gate 1. I just now discovered what they have become since EA took over, I only played ME1, missed the dragon age and 2 scandals or how they call their own community names lol How they big have fallen..
I also did not know they used mythic for pvp design or ME devs for questing last month before BETA to make the game. Seems to be 4 studios involved. I just... didn't expect them to pull a warhammer twice, only reason for doing so that I can come to think of is that it is good business to make flops and cheat your customers. Maybe they are also too big to fail or their management make illegal profits on its failures. I just read that EA has not made any profit on anything in the last 4 years.
They wont with this either, 14.99 after CC charges, upkeep, support, developers, IT and Lucas Arts license fee which is 35% I think after spending 300million, or as EA said after it was leaked, 125-200 million USD. No way they make money of that, not as a company anyway. Seems also Bioware management has VP and other high positions within EA, so maybe Bioware were always greedy jerks them too.

I just cancelled my recurring SWTOR subscription. When you cancel the subscription, it gives you a drop down box to answer why you are leaving. I picked "I'm leaving for another game". Another drop down box appeared with a list of games, and EVE Online was the fourth option, so I picked it. Take that, Bioware. |

I hit 50 and was amazed when I went to Ilam i was given the same stupid ass missions I had since level 1. Really is a pathetic game. Sadly because it could have been cool. With 3 boring warzones I was surprised they were going to start a new flashpoint etc with out having a new warzone. The flashpoints suck. Why bring more suckage? When PVP sucks worse. I guess they are all carebears. |

That is free right? I read an interview by Smedley, I do hate that guy though for the whole SWG fiasco and him denying and trying to trick us all but he said SWTOR would be last subscription based MMO he thinks, best thing that guy has ever said :D
It does look good. But I wont trust hype now even less than before, EA and bioware made me an even more cynical person, which I thought was impossible to be lol |

Exactly, same with SOE and LA. I wonder when companies are going to realise it is most likely better and cheaper just to make up their own license/lore than to use star wars for any games. They get as much out ofit as 20th century fox did with star wars, or even less...
Why can't CCP just make an EVE Online 2? I don't get it. Is it suppose to slowly die untilno one plays, quit then start working on it? I am pretty sure EQ2 started before EQ1 ended, heck they both run now. |

Agree with the OP so much.
Bioware have gone from a great developer to **** all now. They released awesome games like Mass Effect, Baldur's Gate 2 (one of the best RPG games of all time IMO)...
I really like EVE, i think its content is varied enough to keep people playing for years if they want to, and they will always find something new to do. The universe has resulted in a novel (Empyrean Age) that is really good, and there are people now and then demanding an EVE movie/TV show. EVE is my first game i have ever played online in any way, and i have no reason to try another, especially a ****** one like TOR The Apostle : I want a kangeroo Captain Kirk : Silly Austrians Sarmatiko : Let me guess: you're from US? Captain Kirk : Yeah Riverside IA - why? |

your first flaw was thinking a good game and bioware belong in the same statement look at biowares latest games, they are all crap with amazing stories. think about it give KOTOR, mass effect, or dragon age a mediocre story... was it still a great game? no the story (and voice acting) is literally all bioware does right
2nd, you got SWTOR thinking MMO, you should have though kinda multiplayer RPG.
3rd you got MMO at launch, never a good idea IMO.
honestly? get game, beat light and dark side 1 time and forget about it until they release an expansion, pick up expansion and go through it again + new content. |

I disagree, and this is the greatest tragedy. You ALWAYS want to be in on an MMO at the beginning.
Collectors edition aesthetic stuff only becomes worthwhile when it can't be gotten anymore in three or four years. Progress and experience pay off in PvP. It takes time to build up a group of people your compatible with. You can bring your friends or new players up to speed on daunting amounts of content when it's received multiple expansions. I especially like the drama it cuts out when I can pick a class I LIKE and ride the nerfs and buffs without having to deal with crap about how you're over or under powered. You were playing before you were OP, and you've been playing long enough to be useful even when UP.
But the last few years, I've been buying MMO's at launch in the hope of their gimmicks being good game play changes that will make them last. They have all been disappointments, many sell or hand out their collectors bonuses to anyone, and populations drop off suddenly making it impossible to build up a group of people selectively and forcing you to recruit anyone out of opportunity. It's a horrible catch22 of either missing the launch and first year or two waiting to see if it's going to last, or gambling on the tiny chance of real success.

It's known to use the EVE time based skill train system. A sub is most likely, but unlike EVE you might be able to PLAY even when not subbed, just your queue wouldn't advance. It could also be a cash shop that sells queue time in more and more economic intervals, with a sub system ($15=skill queue stays moving all month.) being the cheapest way to buy bulk time. |

Only for the imperial side currently, as with the latest patch, they are apparently able to camp - and farm - the republics.... the rage on the forums is unbelievable, over 200 pages and growing.
Two days before the free month runs out, mind you. That, together with other issues, does not really bode well.....

Yeah I've had tons of fun following that fiasco too. Highlighted pretty well how inexperienced BW is at this. It won't determine TORs future though, no matter what BW decides to do as a reaction. TOR never relied on strong endgame or PvP content, so what happens with it won't ruin the game. It will matter, but the PvP was never something amazing even when it worked perfectly, so any failure will just hasten the inevitable.
The real test will become a month or two from now when the main mass of players reach maximum level and get tired of rerolling more alts. Either BW has shown at that point, that they can deliver a constant stream of high quality story content for the masses to digest or they will start losing the casual story focused players and get in to a cycle of reduced income -> reduced speed/quality in content delivery -> increasing loss in revenue. I'm somewhat interested to see what happens, but it's going to take a few months before things stabilize enough to say for sure. |

No, that would be called not being a dickless c*nt and instead allowing people to just enjoy the things they enjoy without being an elitist asshat because you think one massively multiplayer online video game is inferior to another massively multiplayer online video game.
