Edited by: Asestorian on 25/07/2007 20:25:22 This is a rather interesting problem. Previously, I had used an Apocalypse to run level 4 missions for the Amarr Navy. I had level 4 in Amarr Battleship, and the rest of my cap related skills were the same as they are now. During this time, I had no problems running two Tech II Armour Repairers, alongside three hardeners, and seven Megapulse IIs.
But, after a little while away, I have come back to the Apocalypse, and fitted out a new one with exactly the same modules as I had before (except named cap relays are now Tech II, but these are supposed to be better anyway), but this time Amarr Battleship V. However, now, I can't even run two armour reps with the 3 hardeners non-stop, let alone with guns active. Surely I should be using less cap, not more?
Have there been any changes to the cap use of any of the modules I listed recently?

Hmm what kind of ammo you using? I like Standard L for cap reasons.
Also it'd help if you posted your whole setup. I can't think of any recent changes that may have effected this.

I use a mixture of Multifrequency, Standard, and Microwave, with Standard being the most used ammo.
My set-up is:
7x Megapulse II 1x Tractor Beam
1x AB 3x CR II
2x LAR II 3x Hardeners 2x CPR II
All cap skills are maxed, BS 5 and all gunnery support skills maxed.
Overall I'm confused

Maybe you've trained some more levels in skills that increase cap use, such as Repair Systems or Rapid Firing? -------------- Poisoning the Chalice: Smartbombs as a Counter to Nos |

No rigs? 3 CCC rigs should fix the problem.
I prefer Abaddon myself and go with more dps/less tank for missions.

I did think of rigs and will probably fit some, it's just that I didn't need to before, even though I had less cap on my ship

I thought training skills to higher level would lower the cap usage not raise it, or have they changes the way some skills work buy giving you a bonus in one field then taking something away for another ?

Firing your guns more often / Reducing your repair cycle times = You will use more cap in the same space of time. Controlled bursts (iirc) will reduce your cap for guns, which will help counteract rapid fire. /DeadRow

Ok well I take it then that nothing should have changed, and either I'm missing something here, or my ship is bugged and is using more cap than it should.
Because seriously, nothing has changed except Battleship 5. But the Apocalypse only has cap related bonuses, unlike the Armageddon which has the rate of fire. I'm just confused about why suddenly the second repairer is using so much more cap compared to before. It's increasing the time it takes to do missions because I can't leave my second rep running and burst the AB to get into multifrequency range. I always used to do this and I never had any cap problems. It just doesn't make any sense
