Cant believe how bitter the goons are. You'd think by how you talk you guys were down with Drone Region syndrome.
Corp Thieves are scum on any level, giving a thief props shows to the rest of eve that you, your corp and alliance are tards.

Do you wait for him to finish the Theft or you ban him strait away? He could have done more damage... That is interference... ----------- It is by will alone I set my mind in motion. Ok to end the GM actions - someone caught Flatliner taking from the corp hangars after having not seen him for so long and thought "wtf he'd never do this" and decided to petition it. End of story.

I love these posts. BoB could be burned to the ground, a couple guys left hiding in NPC stations, and there would be some nitwit still posting here about how NOW they are going to fight, NOW they are mad, boy you better run, here they come now!
Are you scared?
Are you running yet?
They're coming! Seriously!

I've found that lotteries where individuals put in money and part of the proceeds go to the corp can be excellent fundraisers. More fun than mining too.

The account is banned in case it is hacked, to make sure the person hacking it doesn't cause any further damage.
The investigation wasn't so much about the corp theft as to make sure the account wasn't hacked. If it was the afflicted corporation would have gotten the stuff back, something that would have been complicated if a hacker would use the time to spend money and items.
A double edged sword really. By banning to prevent further damage you also limit potential corp-theft and extent of the heist.
You have logs of everything, so why not let him finish doing what he's doing and check meanwhile to see if it's banned.
Who knows if he could've grabbed much more?
You would imagine Evol would revoke his access rights immediately and petition ccp thereafter.
You really think by the time CCP heard of this there was going to be any more damage done?

Edited by: Berrik Radhok on 18/07/2007 17:29:23 The best part of this is that all of the stuff is in NPC stations, so this guy won't have that much trouble getting it all out.

To say that it was done due to the size, raises an eyebrow. I've never heard of it ever being done unless the char in question specifically petitioned and complained that they had been hacked. I had a corp member steal from us, and then plead that his account was hacked. I got no confirmation from CCP on this, he wasn't ever banned for any investigation, all I can assume is that he was lying (even though the stolen isk was returned). Of course, it's good to know that when it comes to BoB corps, we simply know that someone wasn't.
The lesson is every single corp theft must now be pettioned as an exploit / hacked account, even if it is clearly not. Well done on the speed of the investigation though, last time I checked it took alot longer for people who were actually hacked to get an investigation.
In the end though, this game ends up being about what you can achieve with and without trust. Without it, you go no where. With it you end up being open to these sorts of actions. The game is clearly slated to advantage large corporations, rather than smaller ones, except on these rare occasions where we're reminded that even though you save alot of headaches being the one big corporation, you risk exactly this.

From what i read so far this corp theft is "unique" so far in the ammount of ISK stolen - some say 100b while some others say 300b.
Considering the guy was buddy-buddy with them for 3-4 years, i wouldn't call it a corp theft, but much of a "friendship points spending". He was friends with some in EVOL, they gave him access and he put his plan into action. Honestly, the only thing i find interesting is the ammount of ISK that must have been stolen.
Waiting for the thief to post what he stole and how he did it. :)

Quoted for absolute truth. CCP learned from past mistakes and now excercise swift investigation and communicate with the community before tinfoil-hattery claims of pro-BoB, goon hackers, you name it, starts florishing.
How on earth can switft investigation be a bad thing?

Question: Why are their people on here blaming Goonswarm for this?
As far as i have read it was a long standing Evol member that stole from his long time buddys and goons are just having a dam good laugh about as they are allowed to do.
