Edited by: doyoulikemytightsweater on 13/07/2007 12:17:03 Now I got your attention - this is no joke.
I want to improve the attitude people have towards logistics. Obviously I want to eventually sell more, but I dont have any ISK problems so I decided why not do some advertising and hand out free ones.
The only issue I have is - how can I ensure people are not taking the free Scimitars I d give out and refine or sell them on ?
I want those who get my free Scimitars to use them in PvP.
Personally I strongly believe those are the most underrated ships for PvP in cruiser class They got - Great resists - Logistic drone bonuses - Especially the Scimitar got a small - near frigate - signature radius and nice speed - Good powergrid, CPU and enough weapon points to cause at least frig like damage - 5 med slots for tackling - The power to augment a raiding party if used properly. - Tracking enhancements that make any sniper froth at the mouth
So - without further ado I want to offer 4 Scimitars for free to the first 4 who can convince me they ll want to take em into PvP and write a short report back of their experiences here.
Cheers

Edited by: Oriodus on 13/07/2007 12:20:41 i'm training logistics and leadership (which includes all leadership specialisation skills - currently standing at 4.5mil SP total) for my corporation's needs - we're a PvP/NPC and industry corporation. Due to the variety of how we operate having dedicated Command Ships with different purposes (i.e mining foreman/siege or information warfare) modules attached benefits everyone...but what we do lack at the moment are logistics ships. I can use them well - i prefer role based PvP - to help others - so having one would enable us to do so much more...not just in PvP.
We're at war at the moment against 2 local grief corporations so tactically - i think they would become very useful.

The Scimitar is an amazing ****, especially after recent changes with logistics hulls.
They have teeny sig radius, decent resists, and are essentially the only 'healer' in EVE. When a gang jumps in with a half-dozen ships and a couple logistics, with or without rep drones, and you know you're in all sorts of trouble, cos you're not killing anyone fast.
I remember a couple months ago we jumped a dozen BCs and CBCs up near EC-P8R, and we had 2 eagles, a scimitar and a cerberus. Oh, they laughed, yet they didn't kill a single one of us, and we took down a few drakes and myrms, and a hurricane. Also, we had a point on a sleipnir, but he ran off. So i'm guessing WCS, which is abominable.
Back on track, yeah, all the logistics ships are awesome, and it's a pity we had to powercreep to carriers to realise the potential of combat logistics _

No problem - as long as you will use it in PvP and care to write your experiences here we could sort that.
What I want is to show the Eveverse how much better it is to add a Scim to your gang instead of yet another damage dealer.

I use mine for running camps/smuggling. It really is a great ship for that kind of thing - fast, hard to lock, and can take a beating. Stick a cloak on and you can get through pretty much anything

Hello,
If I had a Scimitar, I would buy a tricorn hat, replace one of my legs with wooden one and get a parrot. I would teach the parrot to say "Pieces of Eight" and I would go Yarr.
Oh, not that kind of Scimitar!
If I could fly the beast, which sadly I can't, I would team up with an recon cruiser, he would sit on a gate and I would order my logistics droones to help him. Then using a drone control unit, I would sit a long way off the gate. And watch as the recon cruiser pwns all that come through the gate.

Heh Heh- I like that one - you might want to train up logistics really.
Regarding the teaming up part - Scimitar + sniping ship = total mayhem !

Give them to me. If you check my post history (not sure how far back it goes) you'll see I've been using logistics in PvP for about 2 years, way before they were FOTM. This is pretty much how I use them overall, not for getting your carebear on. I don't need to train the skills I already have them and have been using them this way for a looong time. Good way to demonstrate this actually is my alt's kill usage history:
http://shiva-corp.com/kb/?a=pilot_detail&plt_id=181&view=ships_weapons
You'll notice that I actually have some kills with one (I like putting some self defense firepower on them) and moreover, most of those came before they were boosted recently.

Sorry, I posted with the wrong character. I will be using the Scimitar exclusively for PvP in low-sec gate sniping. They are very quick to set up, sniper warps in at 100km from guns, Scimitar warps to gangmember 50km = 150km from gate guns and still in range for tracking links. :-)
No, this will not be for pirating. This will be for fighting against a specific group. :-)

Edited by: The Pest on 13/07/2007 13:29:02 The guardian/basilisk is a much better logistic ship IMO.
Guardians/Basilisks have 2 bonus's, cap and armor or cap and shield. Therefore it is possible to diasy chain them and have a tank, perma-run all reppers cap xfers on top of an MWD all day long even if you get nossed.
Just don't get jammed
I'm maxed out in both ships. It's fun watching a nos domi with maxed T2 ogres unable to gank a totally unfitted celestis, I also had a Basilisk diasy chain that perma-tanked 5 ravens with nos and everything.
I'll put my money where my mouth is. I'll put aside 10 logistic ships. And I'll give away 5 guardians and 5 basilisks.
There is a catch, you must have Logistics V, mail me your limited API key and ill confirm this and contract you your choice of a free basilisk or guardian. -----

Thing is - this is a thread to promote primarily Scimitars.
However - I think its still very good to show any logistics ship has its merit.
The small sig, high speed and especially the tracking boost while still being able to do a respectable shield boost job makes the Scim a deadly ally imho
Lets see how those two logistics can compete with the Scimitar - any more takers ?
P.S.: Can you please explain to me how this verifying for Logistics V works ?

Scim has 4 high slots. Basilisk/Guardians have 6 high slots. They can fit 4x LRAR or 4x LSX, then they can add 2 large cap xfer's on top of that. One cap xfer on each basilisk or guardian is enough to allows you to run:
All high slot modules MWD & Tanking.
If you get nossed majorly, you either need to turn off the MWD or stick the other cap xfer. Meanwhile, the extra cap xfer can be used on an ally, and you still have the LRAR's or LSX's. The speed advantage of the Scim is nullified by basilisk's/guardians able to run mwd all day as well as everything else all day.
I have tested this in the FFA zones and I pretty much could not be killed unless they jammed my logistic ships.
I used the following configuration:
2 Guardians, each guardian had:
Highs: 4x Large Solace remote Armor rep. 2x Large regard cap xfer
Meds: 1x MWD, 1 cap recharger II
Lows: Various armor tanking gear.
1 Cap xfer to my battleship 1 Cap xfer to the other guardian. 2 large reps on the other guardian 2 large armor reps on my high armor resist battleship
My battleship basically had:
2x Cap xfers on him 4x Large remote armor reps 80% resists accross the board
Didnt die until someone learned how to use jammers on logistic ships (30 minutes).
Scims/Oneiros's can't daisy chain.

My alt is intending on buying one in 15 days, when she can fly it. My intention isn't nessessarily PvP: but Corp support whenver needed, whether that is LowSec, missions or whatever....
The main reason I want it and would keep it regardless of whether its mineral value is higher than its "value" is because it makes a great medium-class exploration ship due to its high CPU, good resistances and strong signal strengths. Its able to mount a defense, some weaponry and still support scan launchers and other exploration-oriented items.
I cannot guarantee that it would be used in PvP, but I *can* guarantee that it would not stay in Empire and would never be melted down!! <-----------> Factional Warfare:

It is not fair to compare a solo ship and ship boosted by a cap xfer. If Basilisk/Guardian is the best "team" of logistics .. if you are alone as a logistic pilot (wich is 99% of time in PVP)

To be brutally honest I believe that the Basilisk and Guardian are quite nice - especially when daisy chained.
I worked on concepts of pairing up Scimitars and am rather convinced that a pair of Scimitars could be totally deadly - even more if they use projectiles and mutual tracking boost on each other !
Per chance the very cool ability of the Basilisk to "create cap out of nowhere" may be nerfed as it is discovered more and more.
Epidote is right however as a Scimi can stand on its own feet and boost small - medium gangs to win over impossible odds.
Just check out the video at http://dl.eve-files.com/media/0707/scimitarra.avi
This guy saves quite a few of his gangmates plus he takes a lot of flak without going down - in a Scimitar ;)

Edited by: Sphene on 13/07/2007 15:10:03 I dont want to make any publicity for this ship ...
Yeah, why ? because it is a cheap ship which is under-estimated by a lot of players. I know that it is not the best logistics ... but i dont care. I like it for what it is quite the best .. staying alive and help other in a fight.
Some may beleive thats the main purpose of a logi is to shield/repair others .. that's wrong, the major aim of a logi pilot is only to stay alive.
Because in PvP you are the FIRST target. Some may be lucky to have another "logi" in the space as a guardian angel .. but in reality .. you are alone against missile, bullets and nos.
You have high resits, speed, agility, low sig radius and 45m3 full of Drone ready to help you. It is time to show that you are are in a mimi cruiser .. low slot full of nano and overdrive ... you gain speed ...
Your teamate are now free .. no nos, no web, no scramble .. all is concetrated on you .. help them now with track ... give them the power to concentrate all their firepower ...
can you win ? i dont know ... but you can have a lot of fun with this cruiser.
