Watching it now...
I'm glad my moaning has convinced the EVETV guys that the North actually matters, so credit on that. The main problem is that becuase of the taped nature, the news is basically false.
For example, you report that Burn Eden and Outbreak are in the North, where in fact they left days ago. Nice try though, and unless the show goes live, there isn't much more you can do.
NPE was better than expected, but the guy, Beefy Fiddler or something, annoyed the hell out of me. Caladari?
Vagabond profile was good. I hate the Vagabond, and I hate people that use it (slow ships ftw) but it was well done with excellent footage. You should probably do a more standard ship like the Raven Or Mega next time.
Farjung was pretty good, although a bit too much bias/arrogance slipping through. Maybe if you can get a Goon/RA/IAC member on, that would be sweet.
Roleplay stuff was meh. I have no interest in roleplay, despite the reputation of Morsus Mihi :p
Not much else to say really......still not worth paying for, but getting there.

Great, thx for this. Glad I didnt have to wait till downtime to see it. As a new player, the discussions of spatial politics, ship builds etc really helped get an insight into what awaits. The only thing that bothers me is the creeping episode length, running to 40 minutes this week, but at the same credit rate. No problems with the streaming at 1000k, but how about chapter points so I can bypass certain sections and only pay for what I actually want to watch? Great episode. More Fangtooth and Fortuna5! Might pop along on Sat to the meet too :)

EveTV has improved massively since the pilot.
The NPE part was good to watch and it will be interesting to see how they progress. Being relatively new myself there were lots of things I saw that I remember doing myself.
I was suprised by how interesting I found roleplaying bit was, I think it's a testament to what people have been saying about "If you get people who are really interested and involved it what they are talking about then it shines through". Thumbs up for that part!
The update news in 0.0 was good, I mean, if you read CAOD every day you probably already know most of it but it was nice to have an overview of it. Keep it up!
The profile slot is definitely something you should keep. I enjoyed it.
Just to say again, good job to everyone involved! There is probably more I could comment on, but I think I've made my main points.

Blinky's Reviews: EVE TV Episode 2
Highlights
Pann Interview. Some nice insights into community policy and how feedback can make its way to CCP developers. Pretty brief.
Alliance Update. Getting better and better each episode. A bit light on content, but that's probably because the news in the last week was a bit light overall really.
The Farjung Report. Some great informed and intelligent commentary on some of the goings-on in the game. He's always known what he's talking about, so this is no big surprise. Also some great commentary on HACs during the ship profile. Keep him on EVE TV, keep him talking on issues, and I hope to God that he's involved in gathering/checking information that's being reported on.
New Player Experience. Great seeing everyone go through the character creation experience, and seeing everyone's impressions of the process. Can't wait to see more of this. Welcome to the game, gals and guy.
Role Playing. Ok so I'm not a role player, just getting that out of the way. Was a pretty interesting segment overall, role players are a pretty ... interesting group of folks. If it makes your game more enjoyable then hey, more power to you. :) There's certainly enough backstory and detail in the EVE universe to support a thriving set of role players.
And can someone explain the goggles? If I knew I was going to go on camera I wouldn't dress up like I'm out on a day pass from the institution.
Presentation
Overall the EVE TV presenters look like they've been relaxing more into their roles. Definitely more comfortable looking on camera doing their stuff.
Technical
This week, for some reason, I was gifted with a ton of stream buffering. The first half of the show (at the 1000k level) was bordering on unwatchable for me. No other application or device on my LAN was using any bandwidth at the time, so ... no idea what gives with that. Seemed to slowly get better as the episode progressed.
Summary
EVE TV continues to get better and better from a content and presentation perspective. Technical gripes are minimal, but a download to disk option can't come fast enough. :)

Just a small opinion-comment. Ok two.
First, is it just me, or do you all at EVE-TV beleive this may become sort sort of Sport-programme in the near future? It's sounding more and more like a dodgey American ESPN show, with talks about the 'players', the 'teams', the 'scores', and the equipment used. Not being negative here though. I'm a high-sec RP junkie and I still love watching it. Just wondering if anyone's noticing this 'direction' or am I seeing things?
Right, the second comment. The new player experience. Maybe it's the Amarr in me, but I was sadly dissapointed when all three players choose Gallente. (Yes, I know they are pleasing to the eye, Kasumi especially, heh) Perhaps a review of why they are so 'popular' might come out of this? Maybe CCP needs to re-think the portraits for some of the Males from the Amarr and Minmatar sides at the very least? Just something on the side for the tele to delve into and perhaps have a dev chat?

Thanks for all the lengthy comments, seeing the show is weekly we run through all the feedback and then apply as much as I can in the few days to improve the over all production.
To answer a few of the questions while I am digitizing the London player meet footage (multitasking ftw). We will be adding different viewing and paying options however we want to take the time to sort out the details but it is coming.
The Tourney... rules wise is done by GM Nova and the Iceland CCP Team and I am sure they are getting ready for the late Aug event. On our end we are sorting the best streaming option which as stated in the FAQ is free, something we always want to keep free hence the weekly show gathering the support for that.
The EVE TV Team are interviewing commentators and experts (thanks to all the players that applied) as well as adding improvements to the weekly show.

Enjoyed the show. Was happy that the RP stuff came at the end so I could skip it.
And, just as an FYI, watched it with my girlfriend who doesn't play but has heard me talk incessantly about the game at times, and she was actually pretty captivated by the show. Just a testament to the solid format that it could interest even someone with casual experience of the game. ----------------------------------------------------

Seriously impressed by EVE TV. Getting better and better each ep.
Alliance news was 400000% better than last ep's.
Vaga profile was sweet.
Keep Farjung he's confident, know's what he's talking about and interesting.
Getting someone from the Coalition on there to balance out the Alliance side would be good.
New Player Experiance what ever your calling it. Was better than expect :)

why doesn t jalipo have a pay per stream so you onyl have to pay once for each stream? then you wouldn't have to make it downloadable. or pay by minate

Edited by: Threv Echandari on 09/07/2007 16:12:49 Good Job on EP 2. Continuous Improvement is the phrase of the day! I'm actually paying (after I said I wouldn't)...Though I would prefer a DL option..
That said the Alliance News is getting better, The Pann Interview was a good length. Farjung is Great. Great Ship Profile, I like it I like it! I for one like the "Dodgey American ESPN style" of reporting for the Game mechanics related stuff. I like RP too, and I think the "Alliance News" Actaully does a good job with this. However perhaps some coverage on Storyline (RP) news and player RP Action (CVA Etc) would balance that out. Maybe Running a Gag (This just in... Emperor Doriam is still dead) But overall good Job and Keep it Coming!

Edited by: Senai Navara on 09/07/2007 21:36:39 Edited by: Senai Navara on 09/07/2007 21:35:39 Hi,
after few streaming issues with the EP1 everything is just fine now (with 1000k at least).
Just like everyone mentioned it: EVE-TV is getting better and better and I'm looking forward to comparing an EVE-TV episode in, let's say, a year from now with the pilot :D .
Beside all the good things, there are two points I would like to note. I didn't read this so far, but maybe some other people feel like me:
1. At least in the EP2 I had the feeling, that spiralJunkie and StevieSG are talking a little bit too fast. I'm not a native speaker, but english is almost like a third mother language to me since I started learning it when I was very young (with 7 years or so). But now and then I had to concentrate a little harder to be able to follow. Farjung for example has a perfect "speed". I mean, maybe it's just the fact that one needs some time to "process" the new information. Though it's OK if it stays like this at least, just don't speed up :).
2. The background animation is nice, but come on guys, EVE graphics is now 5 years old and even a screenshot looks much better than the background you have there. It looks little bit "cheap". Maybe the CCP graphics-cell could make you a fancy background? :D
Well thats all for now, keep the good work.
Looking forward to the next episode!
Senai
Edit: some typos

Bear in mind the tournament appeals to a different audience, I hope you have a WMP stream for the tournament, because I think most people don't want an integreated flash player.

Pretty much watched that episode to see how Hardin, Rodj and Midnighter would represent RP in eve: Quite good actually but this part could have been a bit longer. I also liked the NPE and the new background hangar thingy.
Maybe I will watch the Farjung part at a later time too, considering the positive feedback here. ----------------------------------------------------------------------
