I can fly BC's now, but I cant particularly afford one. Ive got 12 days left till Im offically off probation in my corp (just joined) at which time they can offer me a Corp insured Myrmi.
Can I rat in 0.0 with just a Thorax? If so, what T2 Items are a necessity? I just hit 2.6mil SP last night.

T2 armor rep is most important, but otherwise (depending on area) you should be able to do it all with T1 if you get in under their guns and use blasters.

good, I use blasters exclusively.
However I cant use the T2 armor repper yet. Is there any way around that or am I screwed without it?

I've been killing serpentis in syndicate with a thorax, brutix, vexor, enyo, all that works fine. You just need not too bad gunnery skills and don't forget to use the right drones.
You should be able to rat correctly against NPCs with low resistances in kin and therm resistances, you could have a hard time if it's angels because of the explosive damage they deal.
Ask more to your corpmates about the rats you're going to fight. -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast ! The Vexor Navy Issue is much more fun than the Myrmidon !

Sansha isn't the best to fight with a gallente cruiser, you will tank them correctly for a cruiser considering the base armor resistances, but the kinetic damage of blasters will be much reduced. You should use infiltrator or hammerhead drones and see what works the best.
If you already planned training amarr or minmatar cruiser to 4, do it, I suggest an omen or maller, some pulse lasers should really hurt the sansha, try the crystals with gamma or multifrequency, which do the most EM damage. If you go for minmatar, a rupture with 220mm autocannons and EMP or phased plasma ammo should work.
When you get up to the myrmidon, use praetors, and you can fit autocannons with EMP/phased plasma or artys maybe. Be careful of the npc interceptors which may sramble you, maybe you will use 4 praetors and 5 acolytes in drone bay to get rid of those annoying frigs. -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast ! EDIT**
Doh, wrong section of the forum. If a mod could move this to Ships and Modules, id appreciate it!
Callente,
our rats are Sansha so you're not going to do well in a Thorax. Make sure you're using the amarr drones that do EM damage (infiltrators?).

Thanks :-)
Im actually looking at Amarr and Caldari ships, and I like what im seeing. I think I will pick up the Frigate and Cruiser skills since Im in empire tonight.
I can salvage now though, so I suppose I could just tag along and salvage some of the wrecks whenever we have a mining crew working to make some ISK if thats cool with everyone

1) get ALL gunnery based skills to rank 3 or 4 if you have the time. this is VERY important for Controlled Bursts because with lasers and hybrid weapons(you use hybrid) then you need that skill up to save on cap from the guns to use for armor repairing.
2) Just get a BS and be done with it. Especially in Angel space, if you go there, a Cruiser will do nothing, especially gallente as you are stuck with specific weapon damage with hybrid guns.
3) Don't fly a ship in 0.0 you arn't expecting to loose because I bet if your not careful you will be shot by a random person as you belt rat.

Vexor is good, if you need to change your damage type. Plus, it's a very nice ship for PvP.

Just my opinion here on the drones: Ignore the Infiltrators. Never touch them. At all.
Sansha are also weak against thermal, and the thermal drones have a much higher damage modifier, and I believe that thermal is a much more useful damage type in PvP if someone manages to slip into your alliance's space.

Try 2x EM hardeners and 2x thermal hardener and a Med rep, MWD and 2x ap recharge in mids.
You 'should' be able to tank them....however you may be quite slow killing the big ships with those Gunnery skills.
Good luck.

Yep, what he said. Never use EM drones. Typical Sansha BS resist is 50% EM, 60% Therm, 70% Kin, 80% Expl. Against those resists, and in a Thorax with all applicable skills at 5, Hammers IIs will do 25.34 DPS each compared to 22.77 DPS each from Infiltrator IIs.
