So I'm eyeballing a few Courier Contracts deep into 0.0 space. Small cargo only. I'm talking 30+ jumps. What is the best ship type and modules to use?
I'm thinking Covert Ops Frigate (Buzzard) and Covert Op's Cloak, but that's a big investment.
I figure once I get past Empire/Low-sec and 0.0 border gates it shouldn't be all too bad. I might run into some warp disrupter's, but cloaking should save my hide. Am I right?
What else should I equip on the ship? Am I way off?
I'm a little confused about player Outposts also. Can they be locked when I get there? How do you deliver if they are?
Thanks in advance and forgive any noobness.

A good interceptor pilot will decloak and tackle a Cov ops ship.
Nonetheless, Cov ops frigs are your best bet.

To enter player-owned outposts/stations, you need docking rights, which you will only get if you are allied with said owners. So if you are going to do these courier missions, ensure that you can actually dock at the destination.
And yeah, CovOps is your best bet.

What about other mods? Inert Stabs for quicker warp alignments? Or is that moot considering I'll be cloaking right after aligning or dodging warp disruptor's? Warp Core Stabs then? What about the Mids and remaining Highs? I'm not looking for setup's per say, but more ideas of what modules might increase my ability to escape situations.

there comes a point where a tackler inty can lock faster than anything can warp so your best bet is stealth + agility.
cloak, align, warp.. instead of:
align, locked, tackled..
there is still the potential threat of being screwed in cloak but u get more chances stealthed:D

IStabs and nanos, mixed with WCS are a good idea. As for the mids, a MWD, and some sort of EW.

Yeah great, except you can't cloak before you align.
Cov Ops with speed mods in lows, MWD and cap batteries/rechargers in mids is the best small courier you'll get it.
Anything but a bubble just hit warp then cloak the second your ship starts to turn and you'll uncloak for less than a second.
If you jump into a bubble, don't panic, zoom out, look for the biggest gap where there are no ships (there's always a big gap), double click to move away, immediately hit mwd then hit cloak, you'll cloak quickly but importantly get a full 10 second cycle from your MWD too, my helios will hit almost 2500m/s for that first 10 seconds cloaked, It doesn't take long to get out of the bubble then you can just warp away.
The more ships in the camp of course makes it more risky, but still the chances of getting caught are quite slim unless you're unlucky, I've been through camps of 30+ like this many times and never been caught since I sorted out how to do it.

Just use an interceptor. If you hit a large gate camp or bubble camp, just MWD back to the gate. They might have a sensor boosted tackler or two that can lock you quickly, but inertia will get you to the gate faster than the DPS ships can lock onto you.

2 problems with that
Firstly it's not reliable enough, too manyh times you'll hit the gate and bounce too far way to jump, or see a lovely "session change in progress" message, both resulting in death.
Secondly it won;t get you to your destination, you'll be turning back all the time.
Cov Ops is the way forward for this.

meh, get a stabber or a vaga. that is 100%'ly better than a stupid cov op frigate.
why? well the problem is lagg, i can target and warpscram a covert ops on entry if were more than 10 people on the gate ( of course depends on his connection too ) but we did catch quite a few of them.
other problems are:
cov ops are paper thin. tiller will smartbomb them. they are 2 expensive ( incl cloak ) imo to slow...
so why the hell not use a stabber?
1x Imp Cloak II, 4x Dual 180mm Autocannon II, 1x Medium Neut. 2x LSE II. 1x 10mn MWD II. 1x Overdrive II, 2x Nano II.
no rigs.
has great shields, uber speed, good agility, can cloak, is "fast" while cloak, can kill tacklers... what you want more cargo of whatty? 375m^3? Edit: Okay a lil less, since od II.
if you jump into a gate:
A: Reapproach gate. B: mwd-align to something you can warp to ( planet, belt etc )
if interceptors follow you, just unleash your guns and they will go down or turnaround, if they are faster than you click teh object you want to warp to and activate your neut, as soon as you activted it, you click warp.
p.s dont forget 2x small ecm drones.
btw: this setup is great with minnie cruiser III imho.

There is a way to stop all that.
Before doing anything, in your time you have cloaked, open map, and set a waypoint to the previous system, then approach gate, MWD and SLAM AUTOPILOT.
No more bouncing. Autopilot, always activates at 2.5km thus alleviating the bounce affect. Need to be fast in doing it though, as you dont stay cloaked forever. |

You want to take the chance that a bubble camp can't decloak you, thus causing you to lose your ship, your pod, and your cargo? I don't.
If you activate autopilot as you speed towards the gate it will automatically jump for you. No risk bouncing off.

And if you have a good camp some of them will jump through too and kill you on the other side. It's no good idea.
Cov ops is the best bet as was said. With the MWD + cloak trick you will not get decloaked unless you are very unlucky. And bad luck also kills you in other ships.

As stated above, both Covert op and cloaking interceptor are working methods. Neverthless, you should make sure you're familiar with them and gatecamps before you carry something you can't afford to lose.
Yet, in addition, the golden rule for cov ops (and somewhat for ceptors): - Don't warp directly to the target gate, if there is any non-friendly in local
That is, pick some random planet/belt at random distance, and warp first there. Also check the random target is not at same angle than some other gate.
Otherwise you risk running into smartbombing ship, or bubblecamp with enough clutter to decloak you.

No need to open map. Takes too long.
Just turn your camera - select the gate icon, right click -> "add as first waypoint".
Then hit autopilot, wait for the ship to start aligning back to gate and hit MWD.
Same effect as you - but pretty much the quickest way to do it ;P

I think a force recon would be better for that. Do courier missions in a pvp fitted pilgrim and if you get tackled by an inty, just kill it. ______________________________ Caldari blood. Gallente style. Minmatar Attitude. |
