I am looking for a good ship to do this in solo. Would like to start a new character on a second account where I basically just do low sec pirating because I want to delve into the dark side of myself. :-)
I need help picking out the right ship. I am looking to spend probably a good month or two specced out with the new char and I am looking for a ship that is fast - can get in - gank and get out with out to much of a fuss.
What are say the top 5 solo pirating ships that are used often?
Thanks guys - just looking for ideas to get things moving.

some more information would be nice:
- budget - skill points - any preference for race?
I'd say the rupture.

I'd say a vexor. It requires less training than any of the gunships to be effective.

Races I would like in order of best to least
Amaar Calderi Mini
This is a new character from the start.
Is there any pirate guides maybe on creating the best build to get me out in the field the quickest.
Cost limit - There really isnt one. Well - figure maybe 400 mil starting funds to live on. Just looking to get out there asap and start making people cuss.
On a whole I prefer and I guess I am looking for something quick and a knife fighter - get up in thier face - lock em down and tear em a new one. Then warp out
Again thanks

Maybe arbitrator if you really want amarr, and later get into a curse or pilgrim.

Edited by: K3NDY on 03/07/2007 20:35:50 Well guide wise, the main one you should get down on is a scanning guide as the onboard scanner is a pirates best friend, if you get that sorted your pretty much set.
Now i haven't pirating in a while but bk in my day (few month now) my main pirating was in belts which is usually frig/cruiser/bc targets so based upon that i will give you some suggestions.
For frigs, which i suggest you use first as you will make stupid mistakes at first like falling into an obvious trap etc. For this the punisher and rifter are wicked, rifter was my first ship on my pirating career and also if setup for speed like i set it up for lets you gtfo if things go pear shaped.
For cruiser well this is where you have more options,
Vexor/thorax Good for starter pirate, as they are both solid ships vexor is better imo but all down to preference. The thorax is basically if you are goign to win your fine if not then well you buggered Vexor allows you to in theory stay beyond web range when fighting so have the option to run for the hills.
Arbitrator Its pretty much a vexor imo setup quite similar but also better against turret ships due to its trackign disruptor bonus, another versatile ship.
Stabber Oh how i love this ship, was my pirating ship of choice for ages, really need t2 medium autos though for barrage . . . Do NOT go in web range and you should be fine, fit it like a mini vaga and its a blast. Wicked if you come accross any mining ops with ceptors in defense as oh so many mwd after you to try and "catch" you until you turn you guns on and rip them to pieces.
I hope this helps
FOR THE CRIME IM ABOUT TO COMMIT, MAY EVE MAKE ME TRUELY THANKFUL

For early piracy? Basic nos-vexor is an excellent one to start out. It can be tanked or speed fitted and perform decently with low SP counts. The experience with nos, drones, speed and guns will also be very beneficial later on in your pirate career.
Personally, from there, i'd go into minmatar and amarr T2 cruisers. The curse, vagabond and huginn are 3 of the best solo ships going below battleship class and can be very effective with relatively low SP. The experience you'll have gained from flying vexors (or arbitrators, as some have suggested) will serve you in very good stead in these ships. Also, the ability to fly these 3 ships could make it easier to get into a pirate corp if you ever decide to stop being a loner
