Happy days ahead.
I've got the OK from Sony Ericcson to include some of their example code into EMSP.
Quote: No problem to use it at your own risc for a free Open Source project.
So the stuff that the BlackBerry users have been seeing will be released to SVN tomorrow.
If you want to try it on you phone now you have to direct your mobile to http://www.alexalas.co.uk/EMSP/emsp.jad to install it OTA (On The Air).
+ It won't effect your current appliaction - You have to re-enter your API key(s)

Unfortunately I am still have a 907 Invalid COD error when I try OTA. I tried download individual packages and installing via desktop software using both different .cod files, but it also fails.

I've managed to get the app installed on my Blackberry 7520 by going to the following address:
http://www.alexalas.co.uk/EMSP/emsp.jar
The program loads up fine, i am able to input my user ID and limited key, but it fails with i try to load the data. I checked the API access log and it shows:
/account/Characters.xml.aspx Authentication Failure
with an error code of 202 for four of them and the last time the error code was 203.
Hopefully this will help in the debugging process. I've also given ESMP full access to the provider internet service, so that shouldn't be an issue. Only other bit i have to offer is that my BB is connected to a BES. Not sure if that will make much of a difference though.

This also happens for me. If I install the .jar file from the site, as Aren did, it will install fine and load fine. However when it is retrieving character info it locks up while displaying "get training - parsing results" (or something similar). It will fail with the error:
Uncaught exception: Process emsp (202) killed due to message queue overflow.
So maybe some buffer somewhere needs to be checked. At the least a sanity check which won't fix the problem but at least the app won't crash. I have no idea what the message queue refers to in this context though.

If you look at the EveMon post (the stickied one) there appears to be an issue with the API currently.

That is unfortunate since I am unable to install the application via the .jad file as I mentioned a few posts above. 907 Invalid COD error. Hopefully, you can figure out what exactly the problem is since I'm a bit clueless to the situation.

I'll try and explain how the OTA installation works.
Normal J2ME Phone (i.e. not a Blackberry) 1) Open the phone's browser and set it's destination to http://www.alexalas.co.uk/EMSP/emsp.jad. 2) The Phone should ask if you want to install the application. 3) The phone finds the entry "MIDlet-Jar-URL: emsp.jar" 4) The jar (http://www.alexalas.co.uk/EMSP/emsp.jar) is download and installed.
Blackberry (OTA) 1) Open the BB's browser and set it's destination to http://www.alexalas.co.uk/EMSP/emsp.jad. 2) The BB should ask if you want to install the application. 3) The BB finds the entries "RIM-COD-URL: emsp.cod" and "RIM-COD-URL-1: emsp-1.cod" 4) The CODs are downloaded and installed.
Blackberry (Desktop install) (This is where RIM get silly, the ALX file looks for the COD files zipped into a single COD) 1) Download the following 3 files: http://www.alexalas.co.uk/EMSP/emsp.alx http://www.alexalas.co.uk/EMSP/emsp.cod http://www.alexalas.co.uk/EMSP/emsp-1.cod 2) Add the 2 cod files to a new zip file (emsp.zip) 3) Move/delete the downloaded COD files 4) Rename emsp.zip to emsp.cod 5) Proceed with desktop installation using the alx file
Hope this helps. -- EVE Mobile Skill Planner V2 http://evemsp.sourceforge.net/ |

Unfortunately, no =( His error was beyond the point of installation and was occurring when trying to run the application. I am not able to even install. When I direct my browser to the URL, the BB asks me if I would like to download the .jad, I proceed and it mentions that there is no signature and asks if I would like to proceed. I say yes, then it pops up a message saying download error and gives me a choice of 'OK' and 'Details'. All details mentions is 907 Invalid COD.

God damn it, these BlackBerries will cost me something.
Please ask Jay Deah how he got it running, because I don't have a BB device and as far as I know I am doing everything correctly for the installation on these supposedly J2ME devices (that aren't because the want as "COD" file, like what ?)
I'll be more than happy (and greatful) to a Java developer with a BB device that is ready to answer the "BB special exceptions at offset NNNN" because RIM isn't prepared or willing to stick to the J2ME standards.
Until that time, you will have to live with the fact that "Jay Deah" can install the application and use it on his BB and you can't.
It's not like I'm being paid by RIM or CCP to do this.
As such, as of now, BB support for "jmsp" on the BlackBerry ( ) platform is discontinued until a BB developer joins the project and makes themself responsible for the BB builds.
End of story. -- EVE Mobile Skill Planner V2 http://evemsp.sourceforge.net/ |

Jaabaa Is it possible to add ability (optional maybe) to show more verbose messages when updating data? Updating multiple characters via GPRS takes some time and I can't understand at wich fase of this process i am? Is it possible to show messages like: connecting, authenticating, downloading data for character XXX, processing data, etc. One more time: Thank you very much for such great program! Everything works fine until I try to download character file. I enter API keys, and start to download.

V3 is kind of beta code, it doesn't pop up an error window yet if you get the userid/code wrong like V2 does.
So try putting your API code into a file and transferring it to your phone and using copy/paste to transfer the information. -- EVE Mobile Skill Planner V2 http://evemsp.sourceforge.net/ |
