Just looking for reports from anyone who has used it and found something.
I've been cruising around and have not found anything in highsec with it yet... going to try lowsec next.

And what does that have to do with using the new onboard scanner?

I've found quite a few things with it so far. It seems to be working as described in the patchnotes. I'd try warping to different planets (moons, not a good idea) and scanning from each one.

They seem to be everywhere in 0.0, i've found 4 of them in less then 15 minnutes. ---------------------------------------------

Most 0.0 Have multiple ones, just warp to a planet, scan, then go for it.

Ok so I found several in lowsec.. they were not particularly challenging or rewarding, but I imagine ones in 0.0 will be more so.
I like it so far..

Well, there is supposed to be a chance of an officer spawn at the end of each encounter. Though being only encounters, these areas lack escalation that exploration sites have. Pretty cool that things are out there to find, though. Planets are starting to become more than scenery and places to build stations.

It is called a Commander not oOficer, no idea if there is a difference.
Seem that even the new encounter can have escalation paths, even difficult ones, as a guy has written that he has found one with multiple escalation and requiring a Carrier even before the last stage.
The dev comment was "interesting encounter, keep me informed", so maybe it shouldn't have been a encounter but a "normal" exploration site instead.

every system has 2-4 of them. they can be camped / scanned out (if you're in the process of one, someone can scan it out and warp in on you )
My opinion is my own, not of my corp or my alliance. If you have problems, we can have a "who can do L4 missions faster" duel >:) |

I know that it may be a little late in the day, but could someone suggest a good reason why i trained scan probing skills to max? The only sensible answer is probably the one that probably comes to your mind immediately. :(
Can someone tell me whether there is any benefit now to exploring using the multifrequency, quest method ?

yup which is why planets will become the new camping spots
now why is everyone ****ed off about belts being moved to this system?? It would fun, you know your ratting the belt going to each one after scanning once, and then ABM, oh whats this non-aseroid blet I found, oooh I need a carrier
I would love this system
and to pirates they can camp the planets hehe to dorpping bubbles at planets in the future SOON

I assume that given the ship scanner has only 25 sensor str you are still going to get better ones if you use probes?

Correct. Basically, the onboard scanner seems to me to be like "glorified ratting" in a sense... easy to find, relatively easy to tackle. If you want the "good stuff", you're still going to have to go the exploration route with Astrometrics, scan probes, etc. Recruitment Thread EKT Website |

The onboard scanner only finds the piddly little encounters, it wont find the nice hard ones that the exploration probes can find.

Your point is not a good idea in low sec and deep space.

Hardly. You got local, you got the directional scanner, so no "I gate jumped to certain death". As well, can't see why people wouldn't scan from a bookmark anyway.
