Edited by: Zek Flint on 14/06/2007 17:38:51 I know I am prolly the only person who cares about this, but I want to say how proud I am EVE is working to follow web standards. The only thing I see wrong with their page source code is the lack of a DOCTYPE. Hardly any table based layouts that I can find, and that is much better than just about every other MMO out there.

Moved from OOPE.
Hardly good track record though...

It is very difficult, to make a web-page with complex design, cross-browser compatible and have it pass W3C HTML/CSS validation.

I agree. I was merely pointing out that the site is not really close to following web standards. Most places don't code for the web standards because most browsers don't follow them.

I agree, I myself code websites sometimes(Quite a bit actually), I keep the code neat and *close* to standards, but I do not code exactly on standards, for the reason you said, plus I think they are a bit to picky on some stuff.

Sure?? Making cross-browser pages conforming with standards rather easy and not using javascript where it not required easy too.
P.S. Even reparced as XHTML TRANSITIONAL - 1262 issues... Gah! I have only 80 with my page and they all - from counters. And page looks same in all browsers I know. -- . |

As Tonto says, it is very easy to make the W3C validator liking your page. That doesn't mean that what he likes is right.
Example
I had the heart to make the validator smile... But I had no heart to go beyond that for the moment... yet. So for now, he'll go for the ridiculous fixes I've put here and there bloating the code.
One day maybe... ------ This sig space is Read-only ! omgalink |
