After the last round of major sweeping mission changes, there are lots of L4 courier missions that can be done in a shuttle. Most of the remaining ones can be done in a tier one industrial, and have very low value cargo.
As a result of this, macro couriers have sprung up, particularly in Placid. Pirates pop them all the time, but still they keep at it. That suggests it is a more profitable activity than macromining. Probably not from mission rewards directly (they pay about 100k per mission and a few hundred LP) but from the storylines (L4 storylines often offer +4 implants).
I think there should be some difficulty involved with the harder courier missions as there is with the harder kill missions, and that the rewards should increase to match. In particular, the collateral should be more expensive, so being killed repeatedly on a courier mission is as stinging a loss as being pirated on a kill mission.

What are you talking about? Tried one? Or just surmising all this from rumours? Smallest item you get on level 4 courier run is 1,500m3 holoreels (specific item) - it can be a low value item (as in "you can't sell it on the market") or priceless (as in "irreplaceable if lost") - you decide. In fact, most of delivery items are specific mission items... So, if you lose one - it's a mission fail. Mission fail mean loss in standings that takes more than few iskies to recover. 100K per mission? Whatever...
On the subject of macros - I'd love to see a macro mission runner, even a courier one. Getting pirated on a kill mission??? How do you manage that? BTW, unless you run in 0.4 or lower - "the pirates" get popped by Concord faster than they can pop even a Badger .

With the hub systems losing gates it now takes twice as long to complete these "easy" missions. What used to be a 3 system courier run for me has now become a 6 ro 7 system run. Even if you warp to zero, if you are in a hauler it still takes time to align and warp. As for "lots", the ratio is around half and half. Some can be done in a shuttle, some in a hauler. ***** I've been set adrift is a sea full of idiots!

This is not true. Smallest is .1m3, and several can be done in a shuttle. Items such as Beef, Doll, Science Graduate off the top of my head are all possible for level 4 courier missions, and all doable in a shuttle.

It really is easier if you just let go of macro farmers paranoia. If that doesn't work, then take your fight to the guys buying isk. You all know who I'm talking about. The admit it on TS, they comment about it on corp channel, they tell others what services are faster than others. Even the ones that don't work, you always know. The guy who was broke and next day bought a faction ship, the guy who all of the suden bought a 33M SP character. Come on! They bought the ISK! They are the problem. Yet people keep playing with them like nothing happened and come to whine on the forums about the problem. |

Spot on Shameless Avenger. Not all so-called farmers use macros (which is of course against the EULA). Some just devote a lot of time and sweatshop labor (allegedly) to garner lots of ISK. How different is this to an average player doing their best to get the most ISK from complexes, missions, ratting, mining, trading etc.? The thing is however, it's not against the EULA and provided they are paying for the accounts and not using macros there is no 'problem'. So it isn't that there are some ways that are easier or harder to get ISK through in-game methods. The real problem is that people still buy ISK and that is of course also against the EULA. If you really feel strongly enough about this perceived issue, then please address the source of the problem which is players buying ISK. Macromining, mission running, ratting etc. are just symptoms.

I run kill/courier agents, LP reward is about 30%, the fact that it take 30% of the time and run no risk is balancing.
