Edited by: AnKahn on 04/06/2007 16:30:50 Edited by: AnKahn on 04/06/2007 16:26:45 Interesting topic. Indeed I have looked into command ships as the next ship to train for. My alternative is to spend that time cross training another race (ie Gallente) in order to be able to fly a Pwnmobile PvP 1v1 BS. That of course requires training guns and drones etc as Im Caldari, but the time would probably be about the same.
So the questions are 1) should a CS be able to defeat a BS (certianly of same race so it's apples to apples)? And 2) CS is for fleet support, right? Why are we worried about soloing ANYTHING in a CS?
For background a corpmate flys a Sleipner and ownes ANYTHING 1 v 1.
So finally I would ask, is this just another Caldari thing (shield nerf issue)or are commands ships really not properly named/used?
Thanks in advance.
Edit, 1 & 2 I talked about the Ceribus and then realized its not a CS as its based on a cruiser hull.

ôSeriously, who the hell cares about gallente shield regen, they are armor tanks, why would you passive tank? Besides the fact that a passive shield myrm is a a little op from what people "say".ö Gallente are the main passive shield tank race they are not a pure armor tank race. Lots of us do care about Gallente shield regen I for one love my 3000dps Eos tank thatÆs not using every slot up for a tanking, its a great PvE ship. Passive shield tanking guide click here |

Ya know, every ship can take advantage of drones, why not at least have SOME drone skills trained?

If the issue is that other Command Ships are lacking in shield regen why is it necessary to lower one to the 'many'? Why not RAISE the many to the 'one'.
Think about this. It will serve the same purpose and not make so many account holders so mad and make you look so clueless. ---------------------------------------------------

Well, this makes my day. I have been training for a NH since i started playing, still a few months away so my Drake is baby. At 5.5 months old I should only be in a BC anyways. Sad thing is, all this training for a CS and it sounds like I will have wasted, no...thrown away...alot of my valuable training time for a ship that will do doubt become useless. While some of the skils will still be useful obviously, the nerf is just plain stupid. The thng about passive tanks is all the mids were used to MAKE it highly passive. With active, your going to b limited agin becasue now you have to try to get a horid cap regen time up to maintain the active componenets as well as a cap injector which is a WASTE of a mid. IMO anyways. Flame away.

Great. I am a nighthawk pilot. One of my corpmates flies a vulture. We PVP. I loved the fact that when we jumped into a system and were lagged to hell and gone for 1+ minutes, our ships might still be alive because we could actually tank some damage without being able to activate modules. We also had a measure of NOS immunity. There was no reason to nerf this. It especially blows for those of us that run shield purger rigs. The passive tank was decent, but not insane (I like to have some PVP capability, thanks), and this will drag it toward the side of being insufficient.
Why? What was the point of this? There was no problem here and no reason for a nerf.

This post is talking about the command ship nerf, not the drakes so stick to the topic.
I don't understand all the caldari ship nerfs coming about especially if they nerf a coomand ship....Lame....
To be honest i never passive tank in my NH, I prefer having a ROF under 5 seconds with my HML.
Passive tanks are only good for 1:Bait 2:missions....if you use it for anyother pvp reasons well it seems like a waste..
These are my opinions, you don't have to agree you just have to concede Hells
Let me liberate you of your T2 mods. T2 mods are dropping in price, because of invention?? No its because of pirates. |

So, you have no guns or missiles, you're running a siege gang link to reduce the cycle time of a shield booster you don't have fitted, and you're using 50 cap every ten seconds with five SPR's fitted?
UBER FITTING!

UBER FITTING!ö It is with an Eos. You still have cap to run everything with SPRÆs as long as you fit 1 PDS and you have a great tank and due to the large drone bay still do good DPS. Well I would swap the gang assit to resistance based not reduce cycle time.

This doesn't make sense to me at all. The command ships already lost out during the hitpoint boosts.
t1 ships got 50% increase, t2 ships got a 25% increase BUT the t1 battlecruisers got a quite a bit more thus closing the gap on the command ships.
What should have happened was the command ship hp should have been recaluclated from the new, increased value of the battlecruiser hull THEN the 25% boost of t2 should have been made.
That was not done and we have the silly situation where the t1 hulls very nearly have more hp than the t2 hull.
IF the command ships had there hp's adjusted along the above lines then the shield recharge nerf would not be too hard to take. But as it is it kinda sucks.

That went through my mind a whiole back also, this fix would be well deserved and I think we should push for it, Command Ships should have 25% more hitpoints than their original Battlecruiser. Simple and fare, what do you guys think?

Agreed.
I'd still very much like this nerf not to happen, and the buff stacked on top of the current statistics, though. |

Hmmm - I guess when people whine about one ship they forget to look at what happens to the rest of the ships. Of course all nerfing/whining is done in the essence of balancing the game.
I look at this way here - before you whine evaluate how the rest of the ships that use the modules or that are in the particular class of ships that need to be modified will be affected.
Of course this is my own personal opinion and does not represent my Corp, My Alliance, or My Race.

The Eos is disgustingly-overpowered compared to every other fleet command ship, and it ain't because of its capacity for a passive shield tank, I assure you.
And, yes, I was making fun of the guy for running the wrong gang link. The resistance one is clearly the way to go there.

Stupid nerf as usual, CCP doesn't have ANY idea of what's balancing. Boost shield hp at least, a "command ship" that requires BC lvl 5 is put ashame by a tier 2 battlecruiser like the drake -- Another one bites the dust! |
