Just as an experiment, I left a drone mining repeatedly whilst I went back to my station to empty my cargo. Whwn I went back again, the poor thing would not respond to my commands. Can I take it they don't like to be left alone?

Once you warp out of control range, they go dormant. You need to fly to it, scoop it, apologize for leaving all alone in the coldness of space, and relaunch.

To scoop it back up you will need to fly within 1500m.

There are 2 scoop options... to drone bay, or to cargo hold. Scoop to drone bay if you want to relaunch. Scoop to cargohold if your drone bay is full and you're collecting extras.

You can only scoop to drone bay if you've got control of the drone.
If it's been left in space it has to go into cargo and can only be transferred back to the drone bay when docked.

When I went back the drone had gone. Probably went to the big drone yard in the sky.

You can only scoop to drone bay if you have empty space in the drone bay. Drones retain "ownership" (little green stars on your own corp's drones) once you warp out on them, but they go inactive. Sometimes rats shoot them if they were agressed, sometimes other players steal them.
Carrier-deployed fighters are more autonomous and can warp on their own.

Edited by: Serret Nevets on 31/05/2007 17:39:47 You bad boy... do you leave behind your children in the supermarket to see if they will still keep shopping? Protect and nurture your drones. You'll need them someday.
And Vasil... since when is it stealing if you warp away, leaving all your toy's in the park and I come along and pick them up?
Spanking or being spanked... it's up to you. |
