Out of curiosity how fast can you get ice harvestors to cycle with a lone hulk ? Fittings? |

I would encourage you to play with this little piece of software called EFT (EVE Fitting Tool) : https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=24359
It can answer that question of yours with a bit of fiddling, and a lot of other questions regarding ship fits, skills, implants and such. http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Contributor_name:Akita_T#Contributions_link_collection |

Two Ice Harvester Upgrades, Max Hulk Skills, Yeti 5% implant, T2 Ice Harvesters = 250.76 seconds.
Fleet with a max skill Orca and you can get 169.65 seconds.
Use a Mackinaw instead of a Hulk: Solo = 276.52 Orca Boost = 187.12 seconds. (You get 1 more ice block per cycle) Maximze your Industry Potential! - Get EVE Isk per Hour!

Well what I'm looking at is presently I'm using 2 accts to mine ice. One is in a Mack and the other in a boosting Orca. At present I'm at 318 sec. a cyle. In another couple of hours I should have the added cpu skill so I can fit a second IHU t2.. At any rate with equal skills, If both of my accts are in Hulks with comparable fittings and skills, will I be able to mine more ice than the Orca and Mack.? I have to take into acct the hulks will have to make runs to the stations where-as the Orca can hold 180 blks of ice. With IHU's on the hulks I'll be down to 10k cargo capacity each or 3 cycles to fill. This is about 15 minutes (or less) to fill. That's 4 trips to station per hour or 8-10 minutes lost in travel time.
So without getting into implants, what is the sweet spot?
Edit: With Zifrians examples it would seem 2 hulks would be quite a bit better than a Mack/Orca other than hauling time. |

2 macks would get you more overall. If you'd rather not go back and forth to a station mack+orca would be better than a hulk. at minimum skills a hulk is almost as good as a mack in ice, but once you get T2 harvesters and lvl 4/5 exhumers the mack oershadows it. |

Here's some screens on those options:
Hulk: Hulk Solo 22 per hour so 44 with 2 hulks Hulk Orca 57 per hour
Mackinaw: Mack Solo 32 per hour, so 64 with 2 macks Mack Orca 64 per hour
Some overlap of course between how many hours you mine. Skills etc could come into play more later maybe.
Let me know if this makes sense, trying to get some feedback on this new tab I'm working on right now. Maximze your Industry Potential! - Get EVE Isk per Hour!

with maxxed skills and T1 links, I'm showing 66 ice/hour with a Mack/Orca, or up to 70 if the Mack pilot has the Yeti implant. T2 links, and you top out at 77 ice/hour in a Mack.
edit -- and without gang bonuses, 49-52 ice/hour (depending on whether you have the yeti implant). |

You would be better off investing your skill points in combat related skills. The profit margin on ice mining is so laughable you would be better off paying a homeless person real money to kick you in the junk repeatedly. |

Heh, I allready have 2 alts helping Goons in Branch, and 2 alts that run lvl 4 missions. The mining alts are for when I have other things to do. White Glaze also gives me fuel for my one alts Chimera.
On a side note I fitted Ice Harvestors on a hulk and by my calculations 2 hulks would mine about 66 blks in a hour as opposed to 1 mack/orca doing 48 blks. This using the skills each has presently. Still have room to do better.
