Edited by: Blansh on 23/05/2007 07:10:31 Hi, i am new to eve and just finished my learnings some time ago. While i am clousing to the moment of learning towards specific ship with specific eqipment i started to stragle cuz i dont know what ship to train for. Since my bro started to play allso and we thought it would be nice to fly together in ships wich cover each other and add to each other. Note: preferably Gallente ships
My quiestion is wich ships should we train for to make nice 2 man gang for some pvp where we can atleast have a go on everything up to Cruiser (preferebly BC) sized vessels or multiple small targets.
We cant choose betwin Crusers and AF.
Cruisers:
-2x Blaster Thorax. Ions in highs, tank in lows, mwd and capbooster in mids and one of us with scrambler and other with webber. Allso this setup is relativly cheep dont need THAT much skills.
-Thorax+Vexor.Neutron Blaster Thorax with full house of dmg mods and tackling + Nos Vexor with remote armor repares and some ecm (or Guardian-Vexor, though i have a feeling it is a faction ship and i am wondering how to get my hands on it)
AF:
- Double Ishkur №1. Highs: 3xNoses, 1xremote armor rep Mids: MWD, me scrambler/bro web, cap booster. Lows: Tank. (Though dunno if this could be fited )
- Double Ishkur №2. 1st: Tackler + blasters/rails. 2nd: Nos + remote arm rep + ecm.
- Enyo + Ishkur. Neutron blaster Enyo and Ishkur with nos and remote arm rep.
Think i described our idea. And yes i know AF's need some serios skills to make them good, however we are not in hurry.
Any tips? ideas? expirience wich worked fine?
Any help aprishiated.
EDIT: Though Gallente ships isn't a mandatory.
P.S. sry for crap eng

Guardian Vexor was an event reward, I think only 50 were given out and less than 10 are known to still exist. I do not think you want one of those. Train towards the Ishtar, perhaps? :p
Personally, I think that 2x Thorax with gank setups is a good option, Thorax does a ton of DPS for a cruiser.

A T1 fitted megathron + blackbird?
One month of skill time (cruiser 4, basic cap skills, all ecm support skills to 4) and you are a very effective yet more tinfoily ECM pilot.

Celestis + Thorax/Vexor.
Fit the Celestis with 3x best damps you can use and train up all skills for them (especially signal surpression) and then fill the rest of it with MWD/AB and whatever cap mods you need to run it all. Also shove on wahteevr weapons you have the powergrid for (preferably rails or HML's... no blasters on this one until you get better skills).
Then fit the thorax/vexor as you usually would and just plow straight in. As soon as enemy gets a lock (or preferably right before) MWD back out of locking range and then dive right back in (requires a bit of practice).
Alternativly fit the celestis with 3 damps and the biggest blasters you can + plate and cap mods, maybe a NOS.
Fit a full gank thorax and both go charging in and hope that by the time the enemy gets a lock he is either dead or very close to it.
Slight problem with these is that you may have trouble against multiple targets.

Try Arbitrator + Celests.
Arbitrator can take care of most turret ships with use of tracking disruption, nos, and drones. Celestis can prevent other ships from locking and reduce the primary target's lock time which helps to keep the arbitrator and it's drones alive.
I've taken this gang on killing sprees through lowsec with great success. We've killed pirate BSes and small groups of BCs. Our Celestis/Myrmidon combo even killed an Astarte piloted by a member of Reikoku (Band of Brothers).
Tips: - When using sensor dampeners, you have to totally overdo it. Get your signal supression skill to 3 or 4, and always use T2 or better damps. - Drones are your primary weapon, so make sure you can field T2 light and medium drones. Minmitar drones are the fastest, and Gallente drones do the most damage. For a celestis, I usually go with 3x hammerhead II and 2x Warrior II. - The Celestis's life depends largely on cap, so make sure your setup can sustain itself for the whole battle without having to shut down the damps. _________ Gallente FTW |

Start out with 2x vexors/1 vexor and a celestis, then move up to BC/BS when you get skilled up a little.

It really doesn't matter what cruisers or AF you go with... outside of jamming the hell outta your target, you won't be able to take on to much.
I'd have to think that dual myrmidons would be a much better way to go. Each with a good tank and remote repper, that makes for good starts. I go with dual hyperions myself... makes for a very impressive combo. The setups are a bit odd though. One hyperion is pure support with no weapons. Both have very nice tanks.
For younger characters... Myrmidons would be the way to go as long as you have a good setup to support each other. -------------------------------------- ---"What's in your wallet?"--- "There are two kinds of respect, fear and admiration.... I'll take what I can get" |

I like the speedfit vexors, but am uncertain why you'd fit the drone link augmentor?
Why not one of those speedfit vexors with some remote repping ability and a tackling thorax:
5 x Light Neutron 2 (with void you'll be surprised at the dps!)
MWD, Med. cap. inj. and a nice Webber
Biggest armour tank you can fit in the lows with a MAR2
use the much slower hammerhead 2's from the 'rax and valk 2's from the vexor with hobgob 2's for backup.

After spending some time with quick fit, and after playing around a few ideas wich were given here i have enouther question:
What pros and cons for each of the folowing couples.
1. Blastership + gallente ecm(celestis and all this kind of ships) 2. Droneship, nos, remote arm rep + gallente ecm(celestis and all this kind of ships). 3. Blastership + caldari ecm(BB, Rook, Scorpion, ect). 4. Droneship, nos, remote arm rep + caldari ecm(BB, Rook, Scorpion, ect).
To make it easyer: in wich situations BB is better than Celestis, and wich ship will add moust to one of tham.
Note: I was thinking about 2 ecm ships but we whanted 1 dmp ship and 1 ecm in the end.
Ty in advance.

Just go try them out. There's a limit to how much you should depend on other people since if you don't have the skill to fly the ships you will still lose.
BB and Celestis will be about as useful as each other tbh.

Problem with pure EW ships are their crap damage output. Also, as far as i understand, you're new and cant afford battleship losses, or t2 ships for that matter. Also, if you are both gallente and haven't yet invested much skills in other races, don't bother.
Therefore, to be able stand a chance against other ppl, i'd sugest you both get in BCs.
A Brutix is a really good choice if you want to be able to ***** some battleships without using one yourself. Fit 7 Ions or Electrons with a singe magstab in lows, then a cap injector, tackling gearand MWD, and then see how well you can tank it using the remaining slots and power. Play around and see if the damage output is high enough. Then add 5x Hammerhead IIs or 5x medium ECM drones respectively.
Now, time to add some EW, NOS and drones. 4x NOS (best ones have range of 12 km, just outside a 3x dampened average battleships locking range) 2x small neuts or small guns
3x Dampeners 1x MWD 1x cap booster w/800
2x MAR II 3x Armor Hardeners II (Exp, Therm, Kin) 1x DCU II
5x Ogre/Berserker IIs
Yeah, you guessed, a Myrmidon. No tackling gear kinda hurts, but the EW really does help put in those situations when neither of you can tank the victim's damage. However, if your brutix got those ECM drones i talked about, you can at get id of one of the damps and get a 20k scrambler yourself.
But i guess it's all abit out of your range aswell...
So, while you still train towards that, a dampening Celestis and Thorax will work well enough to score you some kills and gather some nice loot.
Celestis, there isn't much difference what you fit here, except for the damps. 3x Damps will work well enough with it's cruiser skill bonus An 800mm plate will prolongue your existance enough to warp, if something goes horribly wrong MWD, 20k Scrambler, small armor repper, cap relay or 2. Then you can experiment with highs and try some remote reps or small guns/launchers to kill drones off with.
Now, for the Thorax.
5x Heavy Electron IIs
1x MWD 1x web 1x Scram
1x MAR II 1x 800mm plate 2x MFS II
This is a general good setup for a rax. Works well both solo and in gang. It can also work with t1 guns, just lose the medium repairer for a PDU or MFS and upgrade your plate to a 1600mm.
Now, for the drones, one of you should use pure ECM drones, and the other DMG drones. This can ofc vary on who got better drone skills, however seeing as the Thorax has a slightly bigger dronebay, i'd suggest it to be damage dealing drones, and leaving all the EW stuff to the Celestis.

Well, it all comes down to preference.
Two Thoraxes can be really fun, imo an Enyo even more. But if you really want to be effective I'd suggest one damage dealing ship, and one ship specialized in electronic warfare. A rigged T2 Blackbird supporting from 60km jamming stuff, with like a Myrmidon or Hurricane setup mostly for gank isn't that expensive or skill intensive.
There's many more electronic warfare ships. You could also use pure support ships that increase your capacitor, shield or armor from behind the firing lines, though imo a whole other ship is ususally better than a pure support. An electronic warfare ship can be pure gold though, ships that you could *****you at first can't get a hit, or even a lock suddenly and become vulnerable to a pure-gank setup next to the EW ship.
Good luck.

celestis and thorax
celestis w/ at least 3 damps, a scram and a big plate (800mm or 1600mm) thorax w/ blasters, web and cap booster
you should be able to damp anything to under 10km so keep celestis out of range and whenever ur target locks the thorax just fly out of range and then back in...it should take them a long time to relock....or you could use ECM drones
