Stay out of NOS range is another one.
Multispec jammers is an ECM module which is equally good ( or bad ) at jamming all 4 racial ship lines. There are specialized ones for each race that have a better chance to jam that race, they also feature better range and a lower cap use.
ECM works by breaking the active lock of the target for a number of seconds, after this they have to re-lock you. ECM is chance based ; it gives a %chance to work, based on (jammer str/ship sensor str) if within optimal range. Falloff range is the range, ontop of optimal, at which the module has a 50% chance to hit the target. So @ optimal +2x falloff that chance = 0%
Target disruptors dont exist unless you mean Tracking Disruptors ( TD is often used to abbreviate this ). TD's reduce the targets gun optimal range and gun tracking. They obviously only work on gun ships.
Remote Sensor Dampeners (RSD), reduce the targets maximum lock range, and increases the time the target needs to lock you ( so they are best used b4 he locks you ). If the targets new modified maximum lock range is smaller than the current range he will lose the lock, and is unable to re-acquire it till he reduces his range to you.
That basically means ECM is always usefull if the module works on your target, but RSD might need more than 1 module to be effective, depending on the range. RSD's are especially usefull versus larger ships if they havent started targetting you yet.
2 TD's can very realistically cripple a Gunships damage output.
There is also a 4th type of EW, Target Painting ( TP) which does not hinder the opponents ability to effect you. Instead TP increases your ability to hurt him. It does this by increasing the targets signature radius. This is a factor in calculating gun tracking and missile damage, the latter only if the missiles explosion radius is bigger than the targets signature radius ( its a fraction thats capped @ 1.0 ).
Because TP's effects are hidden, its very hard to see if it was beneficial, and its thus usually seen as Electronic Warfare's weakest form.
Situationally it CAN be very effective though, the problem is that it has heavy competition from : a) tracking computers which increase both gun range and tracking ( both of which can increase gun hit chance)
b) Stasis Webifiers which reduce the targets speeds if its within range.
The problem is that when the target is within web range ( <10 km ) its generally much better to reduce the targets speed by 80-90% than to increase your gun tracking by ~30%.
