I have thought that it would be interesting to have a "Death Race" in the game, where contestants fit out any non-capital ship, and have to race from one end of the Eve universe to the other, by any route they choose.
Anywhere along the way, people try to gank them.
The first ship across the finish line is the winner.
Only one rule - no cloaks.
Anything else, including escorts that shoot at your competitors, would be allowed. ------------------

You might want to give each contestant a unique item to avoid the problem of people with pre-positioned ships and jump clones.

Ah, so we make the whole trip a courier mission, with each contestant carrying a little golden statue of Kieron... ------------------

I haven't tested this with the new contract system, but with the old system you got an Evemail telling you the time that a mission was completed. So you might be able to enforce the actual travel requirement by creating courier contracts.
You would have a hard time enforcing the no cloak rule, but other than the fact that Covert Ops have the fastest warp speed (tied with Interceptors) people have little reason to fit one in a race.
If you made the cargo size of the courier mission larger enough to prevent the use of covert ops / interceptors things could get interesting.
If you use something of real value for the cargo, then advertise the race, you should have no shortage of pirates to work as the gank squad, provided that they don't start fighting amongst themselves for the best camping locations.
It could be made into an interesting event. I had though of doing it myself, I just can't be bother to do all the work for it.

That's why contestants would have to have people helping them along the way as well as people trying to kill them.
Their friends might fight you at the gate.
The idea is to cause a wave of conflict and fights from one end of Eve to the other. ------------------

Could be interesting but would require lots of effort and cooperation.

The Crane I fly has a base warp speed of 9.0 AU/sec. Are interceptors that fast? ------------------

Interceptors go at 13.5 au/s base warp speed, but with warp rigs they can go at up to 19.44 au/s. ------ Spreadsheets: Top speed calculation - Halo Implant tanking |
